65 days and counting folks...
I'm a huge fan of the Mother series...I've beaten both Earthbound Zero and Earthbound.
All this info comes from Starmen.net.
Shigesto Itoi's website is www.1101.com/MOTHER3/. He
has been updating the site weekly... If anyone understood what is written on that site, then you get my admiration...Starmen.net traslated the whole site
here.
I'll just post one image here, to whet your appetites...
And now that I've posted all the links and crap, I'll explain why this is so big. The game was originally announced for a release on the N64 way back
in 1996...It was canned in 2000... When Mother 1+2 was release for the GBA in 2003, Mother 3 rumors began to re-surface...
they were released for the GBA?!
since when?
In Japan only...same as Mother 3, as of right now *crosses fingers*
It's sad NOA (or NOE for that matter) didn't bring the game over here...They already had the English translations done for Mother 1 (EB0)...and Mother 2 (EB) was already released here...
That screenshot dashed the intense feeling of hope that had arisen in my soul when I read the name of this topic.
I had been hoping for a fully-3D sequel to one of the greatest RPGs ever created and get what looks like nothing more than a sickly excuse for a rehash.
Weak.
Wow. It's finally coming!
...which reminds me, I probably haven't visited Starmen.net in like......a year......
Don't go hating on the game...
I just started playing FFVIII tonight... and right now I'm determined to stop playing it because the "3D" graphics look like crap...I'd go for a 2D RPG anyday...BUT I'll give it a chance...
that and a really messed up story... I wonder how messed up this one will be...
oh and one more thing
SMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH!!!
I'm going to hate on my first impression of the game: It's a poorly-executed attempt to cash in on the nostalgia of a huge cult classic.

Ever thought it's just a style decision on why they kept the simplistic graphic design?
Also, how in the world would they work a full 3D sequel on the GBA? You do know this game is coming on the GBA?
And don't say that it should have been on the DS with a 3D design because Earthbound 64 was fugly.

True that Ashide!
UPDATE!
New screenshots and and details on a bundled game, Micro, and a Franklin Badge...sweetness!
There's something unsettling about a middle-aged man following little boys and girls around.
NEVERTHELESS, I approve the existence of this game.
Too bad that Micro won't ever come to the US--assuming that this game will.
I like how the ox is in line to the restrooms though the best sho is the one that features the ghosts partying.
Another week, another batch of screenshots...
This weeks pics include and screen of the main character walking around in a cave and a shot of the battle system...SMAAAASH!
If you were wondering, the names on the battle bars read "Flint" and "Boney"...Two of the main characters from the canceled N64 version...(this info was taken from starmen.net 's translation of the site)
DUDE! Check out the current present on the site. Lotsa pictures of the enemies in the game and they are pretty tripped out:
There's even more on the page.
Fighting hippies was just the beginning!
Great day in the morning, has FF7's Hojo found new work? Oh and if this game does not have Retro New Age Hippies to beat down with a bat, I'll be sad.
After seeing the enemies, I vow to get this game.
I've 'got' it...Now I need to wait a month or so for the fan translation... Or the US version announcement at E3 (Come on NOA, you know you want to!)
Sorry to bring this topic up, but while playing the game...well, read for yourself.
Spoilers (Select To Read): In the game, you come across....topless mermen. Mermen who kiss you (both genders) for energy. There are also other stereotypically gay characters in Mother 3. When I came across this, it's making me think. Due to this, are the chances of Mother 3 coming to the States now low? I know Japan finds this humorous (those Japanese are just plain weird), but I know people here will find this..controversial? Thinking about this, I get a reminder of Ash (the gay guy from Streets of Rage 3). What do you think?"
Well I'd already read the story FAQ on Gamefaqs. If the game come to the states, you'll be surprised to find out what happens towards the end and why.
Well, for anyone who has played the first chapter of the game, they know this is one sad game...
Spoilers (Select To Read): The mother, Hiwana, dies saving the twins from a monster at the beginning. Flint, the dad, goes crazy when he hears this and starts smacking others with a 2x4. A US release is looking kinda slim right now, with no announcemet at E3. There will be a fan translation sometime in the future though...
OMG
EPIC BUMP
I actually imported the game about a year ago So I'm doing this legralish... but yeah, very excited to see how the translation plays

LOL... 2.5 years later...
The link that you posted up here Psxphile, makes me want to try playing Mother3, to go see how I feel about This RPG Mother3 videogame. Especially because I completely watched the whole enitre very top videoclip in the link you gave.
Yeah @ PSX
I'm sorta on the fence about it, as it is a lot of money... but holy cow, it looks awesome And since I have the physical game already, I might as well add to the collection
I still have the Nintendo Power Player's Guide that came with my copy of Earthbound tucked neatly between my collection of GameFan and Next Generation magazines. It's clear to me that the design and direction of the M3 handbook was inspired by it.
I'm looking forward to reading it.
Guys, I'm playing through Mother 3. It's a wonderful game...
...but there's something I want to get better at.
Starting combos. Once I start them I can generally keep them going for a while but I can't seem to be able to start them at will. I know you're supposed to press the button to the beat of the music and I've tried this... but I've failed.
Anyone have any tips?
Or something?
Put the enemy to sleep. You get to hear their "heartbeat", which is the exact timing of the timed hits.
Found this on /v/ weeks back:
Accidental triple posts are fun
*comes back to the thread*
*looks at the picture* Wow, that's so detailed and in-depth... I'll try it! Thanks, Psx and Shadow Hog.
Just started Chapter 4. The game is pretty awesome so far
Oh, and I just ordered myself a copy of the Mother 3 Handbook. Figured I might as well anyways, or else I'd regret not doing it.
Is that the Salsa chapter, Hiro?
Lol, everyone hates Fassad. I can see why. Though I try not to hate characters... but beyond not hating him I sort of LIKED him.
Now I think I may be a full-blown fan.
WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME!?
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! O_o,,o_O;
Now shipping. Looks incredible, the artworks practically jumping off the page.
I've long since finished the game but I'll be giving this book a good pore-through!
Mine tracking info has cleared, showing it left Arizona today
Very excited.
PSX, did you manage to get in on the preorder key chain?
'natch. I hear we'll also be getting some type of poster deal, due to the delay in manufacturing. Not a bad haul.
EDIT: Just got home to find a package from Fangamer waiting for me.
