...Blue Mystery Dungeon?
OH GOD IT'S POKEMON
Er... I thought that line sounded familiar. My first guess would have been a Pokemon title, but I haven't been able to clarify where exactly that quote comes from and who says it. However, since I've only played the mainstream titles (and of those, only Red/Yellow/Ruby/Emerald/Diamond to completion), I figure that should narrow it down somewhat.

...The only thing that leaves out is The Gold/Silver generation!
What do you mean "only"!?
As in I don't bother with Puzzle Leagues, TCGs or Rangers. And I remember buying Silver but I don't think I got any farther than the Whirlpool Islands (by then I was burned out... it would take the nostalgia-laden Fire Red to get my groove back) before selling it.
Oh wait, I DID play Pokemon Snap. And... uh, the aforementioned Fire Red.
The DS Pokémon games are:
Trozei
Dash
Diamond
Pearl
Platinum
Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team
Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time
Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness
Ranger
Ranger: Shadows of Almia
EXPLORERS OF DARKNESS
SHADOWS OF ALMIA
Ranger
Not Explorers of Darkness or either Ranger game.
Diamond/Pearl?
GyserHog, I will accept that answer. I actually took the line from Platinum, but I have confirmed that the same character says the same line in Pearl, and assumingly Diamond as well. Since the line was from one of the minor trainers, I will not require giving a character name.
Gyser's turn.
Schweet.
Here's one, and I want a name on this one.
"Death's vastness holds no peace. I come at the end of the long road -- neither human, nor devil... All bends to my will."
Kain - Blood Omen
and I want a name on this one.
I sense trickery afoot.
Trickery? From moi? I am hurt and offended good sir! How dare you make judgements upon my good character!?
And no to Kain. =P
Pious Augustus - Eternal Darkness
That's also a no.
It's from Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga, btw. I'm just not entirely clear on who or what leaves this message at the game's cliffhanger ending, seeing as how I've yet to play it and the game script at GameFAQs doesn't give any names. I suppose the sequel might reveal who the mystery writer is but the line doesn't come up again in its script so I'm at a loss.
Rather, I'm just too lazy to check any further.
You've nailed the game, this is true. And yes, the GameFAQs script certainly doesn't feature the name of the writer of the message. It's not a mystery though. The character who leaves the message is certainly named in the game without needing to play the sequel.
Bah, you can have it. The character is Hitoshura, the Demi-Fiend AKA the main character from Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne/Lucifers Call. You can fight him as an optional super boss on your second play through of DDS. He leaves that message on the ground after/if you manage to beat him.
Nothing like a little cannibalism and an out-of-continuity super boss to spice up an RPG.
Nah, I don't feel like I won that fairly. I'm giving it to next poster.
"I think we can all agree that Echo here is a complete a$$."
Game & Character...
Mm... pretty sure you can say 'ass' here. Within reason, of course.
I take no chances.
A FRICKIN' BONE
Throw me one here.
... I mean... it's been a couple of days now... clearly, the Googles they do nothing
Multi-platform. Released in the USA. Maybe THAT is what is throwing everyone off...
Well that narrows it down! Oh wait, no it doesn't.
Eh... nope, still haven't a clue chief.
Are you admitting defeat? Did I REALLY Stump the Scwab?
Is he really expected to know a game when you didn't even specify what bloody generation it is.
You've basically narrowed everything down to absolutely every game ever except a few japanese titles and Tingle's Magical Rupee Land.
So, it's multiplatform. PS2? PS3? Sega genesis? Give us something to actually work from
Within the last ten years. Never officially released in Japan, which is probably why you're drawing a blank...now you know how I feel when you constantly drag out games that were never released in US...
Try watching ESPN once in a while.
now you know how I feel when you constantly drag out games that were never released in US...
Yeah, no kidding. It's hard to take an active participation in this game when those damn weaboos keep referencing un-localized titles like Pokemon, Ninja Gaiden, Jet Grind Radio, Duke Nukem and Donkey Kong Country.
How about Shin Megami Tenshi and Ojamajo Doremi...never released in the US...
Still stumped?
How about Shin Megami Tensei and Ojamajo Doremi...never released in the US...
You mean the same Shin Megami Tensei series that since the English release of SMT: Nocturne on the PS2 in 2004 (With many titles seeing English releases well before that, as far back as 1995) has seen nothing but rave reviews from both game critics and the fan community? The same Shin Megami Tensei series that has even seen fit to make it's way to Australian shores, a country that is notorious for receiving horrid treatment from countless video game publishers? The same Shin Megami Tensei series that I currently have many of the titles sitting in my video game collection, all in English?
We can't possibly be talking about the same games.
As for your quote, from the clues that have been thrown out there, it sounds like it's from one of the numerous Sports Title 200X that get released every year, in which case, I have no bloody clue. They all look and sound the same to me.
I only recall Ojamajo Doremi being brought up once in 'Name that Screenshot', and while I will admit that the game that screenshot came from was only released in Japan, the first season of the anime that the game was based on did get a US release, even if it was a butcher job by 4Kids.
I feel most of the challenge to both of these games is people generally selecting games that are either obscure(regardless of origin) or that have a cult following. Would be pretty boring if every screenshot and quote came from mainstream games.
It is not a sports game. I don't play those.
Anybody?

lulz... just... lulz.
...I'm not sure if Rishi knows Psx was joking or not.
...I hope he knows.
...Actually, I'll place my bets on it to avoid offending him just in case he DOES know.
I can't be the only one who's ever played that game...
You probably are.
Alter Echo?

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Sorry, SH, but no.
I'm geussing he didn't from that response. D:
...that facepalm has reversed my assumption.
I can't believe I stumped you lot.
