Sometimes this thread can go days without a guess.

I see NES-quality graphics, but could very well be an older PC title. Other than that, I've got nothing to go on.

Incorrect.

You're correct to think it's an NES game. Think along the lines of "low class" NES games. Kinda like Solar Jetman (GOD I was pissed to find out I wasn't here to guess for that one. I played the living HELL out of that game! YES, I actually owned that as a kid!)

Here's a hint. You're on a mission to rescue some VIP hostages that have been taken over by prisoners. That screenshot is one of the first things you see before you, the crazy secret agent, flips out of the car to go sneaky-sneaky across the city streets and into the embassy.

The mention of "embassy" automatically made me think of Rescue: The Embassy Mission.

Ding ding ding. Did you really "think" of it? Or did you google it? 😛 I played the ever living HELL out of this game. And I hated it, but I always tried because GOD DAMN that last mission was IMPOSSIBLE!!!11

Okay, you're up, Rabid.

I totally thought of it. I never actually played it, but the name has been sitting dormant in my head for centuries (years).

It's definitely Game Gear-esque. Something about that screenshot just screams 'I ran on a handheld system with a paltry resolution!'

Ye be on the right track laddy.

I must admit my surprise that someone hasn't nailed this yet. Trampoline Terror was picked right off the post (With Google assistance though, so I'm not so sure about that one), but this one eludes people? Hmmm...

Heavy research, involving Google Image Searching every game on a list of Game Gear Puzzles until I found it. You probably found your picture from the same site I found it.

Anyway, here goes. This one isn't too hard, I should think.

A'ight. I played it on the Genesis, but that was a port. I believe this screenshot is of the original Amiga release of this puzzle adventure.

Okay, here's another clue. The main character is a stereotypically named hillbilly, with a weapon/friend. Their names form the title.

Bubba 'n' Stix. Never played it, but I'm familiar with the character due to all the ads that were run in magazines back in the day for the Mega Drive port.

Niet.

hint time: Originally released during the PS1's lifetime, the game went on to inspire a PS2 sequel, a DS side story and a PSP port of the original.

Once saw the game in a shop along with Legends many years ago, wish I picked them up as I've never seen them since, must've been imported.

Surprisingly, the game this screen shot hails from was developed here in the U.S.

Also, it's for the SNES.

And eerily resembles another 2D mech game from the publisher's catalog (by a japanese developer), so much so that for years it was rumored to be an unofficial spin-off before the issue was finally settled by the game's director in 2004.

And, oh yeah... bitchin' 2 player Vs. split-screen mode.

Eh, didn't think it'd be this obscure.

Okay, time for some blatant clue-ing: this game was developed using the Z.A.M.N. engine.

... well hell, not that blatant. I'm not GIVING it away. Figure it out! DO THE NOODLE DANCE!
