This is far less obscure than it may initially appear.
metal gear
No, but you have the right generation of consoles.
R-type 3
Now you're further away. This is not a 16-bit game.
ah <bites thumb> sorry silver... its just i was thinking "what evil game says you failed" and R-type 3 popped in my head.
man this is hard, please give some clues.... i dont know if i can guess this one even so
is it vampire killer?
>_< i'm probably wrong....waaaaaaaa...... <hides under a table>
Not Vampire Killer.
Here's a further clue then. This is a rather well known SEGA arcade game, which was later released on a range of home consoles.
Psxphile wins. FLAWLESS VICTORY.
Hmm...
it looks like pong... and the graphics remind me of ps1 or the N64...
oh man.... how can i guess this game? how can anyone?!
ahhhhh!!!!!
is it pong for the playstation 1?
lol nope
Looks like a game of Snake to me, bro.
It looks like a whiteboard with a red piece of chalk on it.
And for some reason the pic made me think Warioware.
... how can a whiteboard have chalk in it? dont they use markers? although i hope you're right about warioware...if not,
psxphile be a dear and give more clues will you?
I see no reason a chalkboard could not be made with a white finish, and yes, white is the standard color for dry erase boards.
As for the screen-shot, it looks like a first person close-up from a third-person game, probably of an interior wall.
yes, it is a minigame
no, it is not a type of WarioWare-like collection of minigames, just one of various little optional time-wasters you can find in the main game to make some coin
yes, it resembles Snake somewhat... but it has more in common with another famous Snake/Nibbles spin-off that even had its own movie made
and for your information, it is clearly a white wall being painted over by a pink paint roller (Player 2 can be blue!)
It reminds me of Snafu.
I don't even know what that is. o.o I'll Google it later.
I'm figuring the lot of you are stumped, so I'll give you another hint: this game was just one of many in the franchise (which apparently started life in the Arcade before jumping for good to consoles back in 1986), but this was the first one in the line to be localized and brought over to the West in '92. Several sequels would pass before the franchise would get another chance in the West with it's first N64 title in '98.
"and for your information, it is clearly a white wall being painted over by a pink paint roller (Player 2 can be blue!)"
this really confused me psxphile... how can it be a a game like snakes, have a movie and has mini games that paint japanese walls to gather coins??? what's with your clues
but if it is an N64 game like i thought, that should be a short list.... but your last clue is more confusing... i'm just gonna go ahead and follow my gut on this.
is it bomberman hero?
Huh. Welp, essentially it's the same game (er, minigame), sans the moving in diagonals. And the brush speeds up incremently as time passes. The object of the minigame is to paint the wall completely. The more area you cover, the more cash you earn. But you can't go over a previously painted area or you fail. However, managing to paint the whole wall without "crashing" into yourself nets you bonus cash.
Of course, knowing all this probably won't help you here since it's just an optional mini-game.
I guess... I could mention that the main game is a colorful and somewhat cute sidescrolling platformer with a dash of the adventure genre for spice? And that it could be played co-op with a friend?
EDIT: hey, where'd you come from! Hm, no... not Bomberman Hero. And if you followed my clues, you would have realized that the game in question predates the N64.
mystical ninja 2? <hides under a table> if i'm not right i'm gonna be so disappointed >_<
Well... you're not right, but you've named (stumbled on?) the franchise. Now you just got to find the right game.
omg i thought it was gomen the first time i saw that japanese screendoor but i didnt think it was it, cause i dont remember that mini game.
hmm there's only 3 mystical ninja games on the N64, the first is a 3D one, the second is the 2D platform but you said no... so is it gomen sugoroku?
Um... I keep saying it isn't an N64 game.
the legend of mystical Ninja
darn it! i even found the site you took the pic from psxphile... i solved this hard confusing screenshot and yet i feel totally dumb!
i knew it was mystical ninja its one of my favorite games, why didnt i follow my gut the first time >_< uhh.. <grinding teeth>
you're really good at choosing pics, this was really challenging
the legend of mystical Ninja

i thought really good and hard about this, hope this is a better challenge then my last try.

Jardinains! =D
Hullo!
You are indeed correct TTG
Is it a text-enhanced version of Zork I?
Nooooope.
you know it reminds me of an old games show i used to watch as a kind called "nightmare" where 4 kinds play a medieval game one as a blind gamer who goes into the game and 3 other kids direct him telling him "go one step forward... turn right... hop" it was fun
although this is not it of course, its just i couldnt help remember that. i also think there were games you could play with typing instructions.... you'd need a system with a keyboard of course and the graphics are old from what i see..... this is gonna take awhile.
please give more clues turtle. what system is it from or any clue.
Hm. It was on the ZX Spectrum.
Also, check
this out, Mada. It's the Spoony One's retrospective the the old Knightmare show. The show did look like fun. =D
