The Sonic representative is Sonic Adventure, not Sonic 2 or Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Voter idiocy confirmed. Actually I suspect a Dreamcast fan site spammed the vote. Chu Chu Rocket? 3 Panzer Dragoons?

Also the original Super Mario Brothers is not listed by the fan vote.

It could be worse. They could have chosen Sonic 06 instead.

Besides SA isn't far removed from S3&K in terms of quality.

Well, Sonic Adventure didn't directly compete with S2, CD, or 3&K in the brackets. It beat its challengers. The other Sonics didn't. I don't remember what they were, except CD was up against Earthworm Jim (which I voted for, albeit I didn't know how the bracketing worked.)

Sonic Adventure still deserves it, regardless.

Well, based on what I read here, neither Sonic 2 nor Sonic 3 & Knuckles were an option anyway. Also, there are four games per system.

I wish the handhelds counted. ;p

To be fair, Sonic 2 or Sonic 3 & Knuckles would be an unrepresentative sample, whereas Sonic Adventure would be closer to the average...

EDIT: That and it had the significance of being one of the Dreamcast launch titles, whereas S2, S3, and S&K were just installments earlier in the franchise. That and a game like Sonic Adventure doesn't have a number in it, and IMO would feel a little less weird to show standalone than a game that is clearly a sequel to another game. (Or a game where a relatively less major character is named alongside the protagonist in the title.)

That explains a lot. I'm not sure if the categories are a good idea, but at least the strange distribution is not so strange by that list.

Time time time. 4 games per system? And they pick Zwei AND Saga? Saga, Yes. Zwei..ehh that could have found a better game for the Saturn :/ Hell X-Men vs Street Fighter :/

I'm thinking artistically, and hell Street Fighter Alpha would've been a better-ERR WHAT! RESIDENT EVIL 1? WTF >O! (I forget if it came out on Psx or Sat first, but STILL FMV Intro? COme ON!) Hell I'da even taken Scud THE ASSASSIN over some of the crap on this list >O

AUGH GUARDIAN HEROES? WHAT *Explodes-this list has officially made DL start a rantblog*

Playstation. Is that a knock against Scud: TDA? That game was f___ing INSANE on shooting mode! 2 guns were practically a necessity!
