I'm kinda worried right now... I see no mention of Earthbound being unlockable in the CLASSICS collection. FFS NOA, they included both Ness and Lucas, you think you could throw us a bone and keep the EB demo? The fans are already doing a full translation of Mother 3 since you dropped the ball there.

Personally, three minutes of Earthbound won't get you anywhere.

Well, he's fast.

...And that's pretty much the obvious report. =P

He's got some pretty good aerial attacks, and his specials aren't much to sneeze at either. Mainly his A attacks, though.

He's easy to play once you get past his insane speed.

As said by the people at ECC, "Jigglypuff combined with Captain Falcon." Brawl was up and running in the lounge and I got to see it up close. It was great listening to the player's conversations while battling, as they were all pretty much geeks, 10 times better than watching a video on youtube. It started to get interesting when suddenly right when I was there Sonic got unlocked. It was amazing to hear everybody talk about Sonic, the games, and opinions. What was funny was what one said: "When I first saw Sonic in Brawl and didn't click the movie yet, I hoped that his Final Smash wasn't Super Sonic. I was expecting a furry parade, like suddenly all the Sonic characters would come on the screen one at a time and do an attack, Like Sally Acorn comes up then Amy swings a hammer and so on"

There was one player I know had an openly resentment of Sonic, calling him a f'in furry. Another talked about if Tails was playable in Brawl that his Final Smash could of used his Super Tails form from S3K, describing him right down to the 4 flickies that attacked everything on screen. One quirped about Sonic the Fighters, how "it has characters not seen since," while someone sung a few bars of "Sonic Boom, Sonic BoooM, Sonic Booooom" and "Everybody's Super Sonic Racing"

It was very surreal, as I'm not used to hearing people in RL talk like this instead of being on the internet. o.o;

Well, I went on an impulsive shopping spree and bought a Wii and Brawl yesterday. I've gotten as far as The Lake on SSE only because, in my purchasing frenzy, I forgot to buy a legitimate GC controller (I got the feel for the game using the Wiimote-con-nunchuk) last night. Now having purchased a GC controller, I have to say...

...if it weren't for the visuals and the Adventure, I wouldn't be all too impressed with the game. I don't comprehend what purpose there was that Sakurai had for slowing down the gameplay, but I thrilled on the speed of Melee-paced gameplay. With Brawl, it feels like I could run to the lavvy and come back in the time between Falcon's Knee connecting with someone and the resulting knockback, as an instance. Trite though this complaint may sound, it is of great significance at higher levels of technical play, especially in effective recovery. It is a good game, no question; it simply plays like Smash 64, which I consider to be a step backward for this terrific franchise.

March 23rd release date for my part of the world. I guess in the mean time I can play NiGHTS and later Riders 2 when that comes out in two more days But I'm glad that you guys can finally enjoy the game. I can't wait to find out how the new characters play and find out who'll be new additions to my main choices... sigh.
...I think I'll go freeze myself and have Butters wake me up when it's out.

As of yesterday, I unlocked all the stages, and today I beat the last of the events (though there's more stuff to be unlocked from clearing certain events on Hard).

I just ordered Brawl and a Wii Freeloader from a credible UK website for £42 including 1-2 day delivery. I'll be damned if I'm going to wait until whenever in Summer to play it and £42 is a spiffing amount if I'm honest, since that's only £2 more than if I was to buy it when it actually came out (incidentally, the bundle only costed £40 but the £2 was for quicker delivery 8O).

Also I'll finally be able to play other games a lot quicker and in all their uncensored glory. Here's looking at you, NMH! 😀

I'm not close to getting everything unlocked....but I'm sure I'll get there soon enough, I really wanna unlock Wolf and Toon Link, as well as more and more stages.

So far my Brawl experience has been humiliating the little cousins by beating them with the goggled Pikachu. They wouldn't let me play any of the cheap characters, not even yoshi. o.o

...But the characters are supposed to be balanced. How good they are depends on skill.

Technically that means ALL characters are cheap since your skill level is higher than your cousins.

And them forcing you to use pikachu over and over again is increasing your skill with pikachu... making you cheaper.

So you should just be not allowed to play.

Here. It's an estimated date and I'm sure it will change a little, but Pokemon Battle Revolution took for fricking ever (like four, five months) to get here after that hit America. It was ridiculous. So for now I'm believing that date. It's very strange, sometimes it doesn't take that long for games to come out here, other times it takes ages. We tend to get movies pretty early now though at least (it wasn't always that way) so, like, I got to see Cloverfield a day before the rest of the world (thus avoiding rampant spoileresque discussion)... but I'd trade that for having Brawl now.

I got to try it out at my friends house about five hours after he got it. He stuck with what he knew, a GC controller and Peach (until Ness) for the most part, while I took my hand at Wiimote with Nunchuk (At this point, my Wiimote experience is Wii Sports and Cooking Mama) and, after a practice run with Pikachu, sampled new characters.

Unlike all of my friends, I like Captain Olimar. He took a bit to get the hang of, but I did some good work with them in co-op SSE. Snake was a load of fun, but his B moves kept slowing me down. And Falco (one of my main men in Melee) needs adjusting for me.

I hope to play again sometime soon :/

Maybe I need to play as him more, but so far, I don't like using Olimar, the guy is too awkward for me. However, newcomers Pit and Pokemon Trainer handles like a breeze (though I avoid Charizard because he's sloooooooow--I perfer the more balanced characters-ones not too fast nor slow).

At any rate, today's update is the hidden Melee stages in Brawl

Unlocked most everything, but wait, no thats a lie, my Vault still has alot of red. I haven't Beat Subspace again yet. Why? I'm playing on Intense and Im up to the Great Fricking Maze of EASINESS!! Sonic utterly pwns this game hands down.

Olimar is really great when you get the hang of him, but Pit..wow Pit phails epically. I expected alot more from Pit. Sad day. Luigi saves lives, nuff said about that. What else.

Oh yeah, Wolf and Jiggly and that other person, dun have a single CLUE how to unlock them. And wtf @ 62 Stages to complete??! I just started them on Hard and well, Super Bowzer Bro's can die. repeteadly. Like I did.

Pokemon Trainer rules, Suqirle's new name is Chuck. Ivy=Norris. Char can die, since Fly does NOTHING! AT! ALL.

And lastly, Toon Link killed me as Sonic 12 times before I beat him and got him unlocked. 12 Times. Do not mess with Toon Link.

Wont be back for about 10 more days as I immmerse myself back into Brawl. Bye bye!

I just got back from playing it the first time. I experimented with most characters and beat classic mode with Fox because he's absurdly strong. Unlocked Ness, Marth, and Luigi by doing a ton of brawls and Falco the same way but I can't beat him yet.

This is my first real Smash Brothers experience (other than button mashing in Target). It took me a long time to figure out what smash attacks are and up to then I just used a ton of specials. The hardest part is consistently double jumping and up specials with the analog stick.

The stages are amazing. Remember when only a few stages were revealed and we were afraid they were going to be small and the same?

If you're using a Gamecube controller, Vec, then use either Y or X for jumping. It's a lot easier and you'd be able to to get more horizontal jumping distance iirc, too. And from what I've heard of the game you can set the controls so that up control stick =/= jump, which should make it easier to set up strong and smash up attacks.

Also, it figures that Isaac would be the most irritating to unlock out of all the assist trophies =O @ update.

My copy of Brawl arrived today.

At first it would only work in black and white on my oldish and crappy tv so I had to set up my Wii on another tv. But, although it plays in glorious colour now, I sometimes get this really awkward black shimmering effect on colours, predominantly red/orange. So it makes playing on Eldin Bridge and Norfair slightly irritating (plus the clear screens on Classic modes).

Any ideas on how to possibly sort this out?

So far I've only played Classic mode twice, once on Normal and once on Easy. I've unlocked C.Falcon and Luigi.

I'm using the Wiimote+Nunchuck. You can turn off up-jump, but the C button is VERY inconvenient for jumping and there aren't a lot of alternative buttons to jump with.

How are you supposed to use items? I press attack over items but it's inconsistent. Is grab the preferred way?

I think I will have to use a wavebird to avoid being PWNED in online. Wiimote buttons are too far apart to get to quickly. Does anybody have a good configuration for the Wiimte+Nunchuk?

I use the C button for jump and motion control for strong attacks. This has been working good for me, but you may not like it.

Any one have good tips on how to unlock Sonic. So far I've only unlocked a few guys, it seems very random to me.

Senselessly hard. Like...I can't explain it. But I beat it, believe it or not. lol Anyway for getting Sonic...I don't know he challenged one day after beating Classic I believe. It is mostly random. The SSE is an easy way to get most of the characters. lol
