Here it is: the new trailer for SMG that premiered today at the GDC.

It's amazing. VERY F***ING AMAZING.
Petey Pirahnasaurus ftw.
It's insane--in a good way!
Killer awesome. Considering this is a Nintento game and gameplay usually comes over graphics, I was impressed at some of the graphical feats in this trailer. Simple, but lovely.
eep, that looks like it'd give me a headache... o_o
and in an off-topic yet not really new-topic-worthy side note, I'm sitll incredibly infuriated the Super Paper Mario has been yanked away from the GameCube and made a Wii exclusive title. Argh. >_<
Well what do you expect? It IS Nintendo, after all. They've been known to constantly keep changing their word, like with the case of Twilight Princess.
But surely though, it doesn't change the fact that game will STILL be good, y'know? Speaking of which, I can't wait for next month!
Yeah, good point. I guess I should be grateful they didn't screw us out of the GC version of Twilight Princess. Still sucks for me though, since my lack of interest in a Wii means I miss out on Super Paper Mario, a title I was looking forward to quite a bit.
Funny how up until recently Nintendo.com still said it was a GC title, now they call it "a hilarious dimension-shifting platformer possible only on Wii!"
riiiiiiiiiight.
okay, I'm done dragging this off-topic now, heh. sorry.
It's on Wii for one simple reason: very, very few people care about the GameCube anymore (sadly). Thus, retailers about ready to close up shop on that section. Thus, if Nintendo wants a new game to reach a wide audience, they have to release it on their more popular console. Thus, GameCube games are migrating to Wii.
Honestly, though, I prefer it this way, since it means I can use wireless controllers (I don't have a Wavebird) AND I don't need to pop that memory card flap on my Wii. Plus widescreen. Widescreen's a plus.
o.o That's some trippy stuff. I may get this. And this would be big for me considering that the last Mario game I bought[other than SM64 x 4] was SMW for SNES in like '94. Said I was going to get Sunshine, but never did. Heh. This game looks really fun though. I've already got a rather large Wii already though.(Thus the Mario game buying slump continues lol)

I can understand that, but part of what makes it so annoying is that Super Paper Mario was originally announced as a GameCube title before the Wii was even out. It was first announced in May 2006, with a supposed release date of Nov. 2006. Which obviously went out the window. Wish it could've at least been on both systems, but it's been delayed far enough that Nintendo has already pronounced the GameCube dead, and certainly won't be releasing anything else for it.

You didn't miss much.
I knew Petey (or Petey looking pirahna plant) will be in. o.o

Not to be nitpicky here, but shouldn't the fact that a game you really want is coming out for Wii be the reason for interest in getting one?
As for this game, it looks incredible, everything about it. I especially like the backgrounds, those big planets/stars/things dominating the area. Plus looks like there'll be a Yoshi planet. ^_^

The issue is that it's pretty much the only one, and I can't really justify buying a console for one game, unless it's the greatest game in the history of like, anything ever. Even as much as I like the old 2D Mario platformer types.
And if it'd been a Wii title from the beginning I probably wouldn't be quite so annoyed. But it's that much worse when Nintendo dangles it in front of me and says "it's coming out for a console you own! oh wait, no it's not. changed our minds, sucks to be you. buy our new console."
Considering how much I like 2D platformer stuff, I was thrilled that I'd actually be able to get this one, as it looked more interesting to me than New Super Mario Bros. even (another example of a title I'd like to play, but wouldn't buy a system for). bah.
Gee, I'm whining a lot today. o_o </disgruntled GC owner>
*thinks of Avenue Q* Sucks to be you Zero. lol j/k Yea buying a system solely for one game is risky and kinda dumb...but we've all done it. Or have thought of it atleast. =P
*PSSH* I want to play LittleBigPlanet but it is exclusive to a $500-$600 console which is expensive for my price range for a home console. But I'm not complaining since it's one reason to look out on purchasing a PS3 in the future.
Before that game preview, the PS3 wasn't really that enticing for me and this is coming from someone who loved her PS1 & PS2.

It was? @ the bolded quote.
Anyway, SPM and SMG are be my main reasons for obtaining a Wii in the future so far. Also, I'm sorta glad that SPM is moving from a dead system to a console that is "in" and early in it's life. It gives shopkeepers to keep the game in retail for more than six months meaning it gives more people a change to experience the game.
Better this way that the previous rumor of it being canned.

Ahh, fair enough, best way to go is give it a year to decide.

I thought Nov. 2006 is what I remember hearing, but now that I think about it, it may have been Oct. 2006. (which is what the Wikipedia article mentions)
And like I said, it's the whole dangling and pulling away thing that's why I'm complaining so much. I wouldn't be half this whiny if it'd been announced as a Wii title from the start. I'd be more along the lines of "darn, that looks good" rather than "screw you you said it was coming to my console".
This may be the obscure fan favoritave in me, but I really hope Tatanga will return. (he was the villian in Super Mario Land 1, who kidnapped Princess Daisy which was all a front so Wario can take over Mario's castle in Super Mario Land 2, in which Tatanga was a boss cameo in the Space Zone) Can you all see a similar plot happening in Galaxy?
Say it with me...Easter Island heads coming at you in 3D?
Didn't one of the Gradius games already cover that?
