According to CNBC yesterday Sony annouced that PS3 will not be launching until 2007! A CNBC reporter said that Sony Computer Entertainment will delay the launch of PS3 in the U.S. because of high development costs according to SCEI the PS3 will cost Sony close to $900 a piece to build each unit. And no the PS3 will not cost $900 to purchase(Dumb Nintendo fanboys)it will cost alot to produce and could cost Sony nearly a billion!
This news ran on CNBC and Bloomberg also predicts that with PS3 not launching this year could hurt Sony and drop it's shares and forecast earnings, Sony could lose nearly half of it's share in the U.S. game industry, although this is good news for Nintendo great news for Mircosoft this is good and BAD news for the entire U.S. industry! Analyst predict that in 2006 that console and game sales will slump and decrease production at about 10% E.A,Mircosoft, Sony and Activision's stock have already dipped 20% at this news and with Sony in decline the entire industry could suffer a CRASH like 1984!!!!
Mircosoft will double the 360's user base but they can not save the industry, No Nintendo Revolution will not dominate, but PS3's delay could give it a good head start if the market continues to decline with continued multiconsole ports released simultaneously, annoying GTA clones and murder simulators, crappy unbearable movie licensed titles, and repetitve FPS, the industry could CRASH by the end of the year like it did in 1984 with terrible movie games, crappy arcade ports, and an oversaturation of software.
The only thing to can save the industry is if 3rd party publishers can cut development costs by test marketing high profile titles before releasing them wHich is why I'm hoping and praying that SEGA will start making consoles again, I know they may have something up thier sleeve, with PS3's delay SEGA will have to release thier LindBergh arcade ports on another console NO not the Revolution it's CPU is too weak to handle Lindy's processor, and probably not Xbox 360 since the port may have to match the Lindbergh's power exspecially with games like VF5 and House of the Dead 4(Which I played this weekend in San Antonio)at SEGA GameWorks.
If SEGA does come back to the home console market I'm guessing they could probably name it something like this: SEGA BLU RAY, SEGA Blue Orb, SEGA Midnight blue, or SEGA Emerald.
I believe SEGA would choose a new name that isn't pretentious or an understatment unlike 360 and Revolution, they would choose something to has to do what their plan for the industry the Dreamcast was because SEGA wanted to take online gaming to another level, SEGA BLU RAY would be SEGA being the only company to wanna take advantage of a special DVD technology that isn't availble to U.S. and Europeons and is being test marketed in Japan(After all SEGA did name a CD add on SEGA CD or MEGA CD atemping to take advantage of Laser Disc and FMV.)
The Reason why I beileve SEGA coming back would save the industry because they would know what they're doing, they would come up with guidelines for 3rd party publishers to stop oversaturation, they would make development costs cheap by reqiuring all 3rd party publishers to test market high profile titles. After all SEGA has learned alot from it's past mistakes and they probably know all about the mistakes made in this generation.
If SEGA doesn't come back then history would repeat itself, gaming will fall into decline, Mircosoft will revert back to making PC software and Nintendo will go 3rd party, and Sony would suffer the way Atari did back in the 1980s, this would make things easier for SEGA and triple thier chances of coming back and doing what Nintendo did back in 1985.
All I'm saying is this just my opinion, SEGA already holds a strong grip on the Japanese arcade market basically all nearly all Japanese arcade machine are built by SEGA and if they come back, then in Japan they could gain nearly 80% of the Japanese game industry from Sony!
Dear Pat L,
SEGA IS NOT COMING OUT WITH A NEW CONSOLE. GET OVER IT.
EDIT: o.o stupid EzBoard.

LOL HORSE S**T!
Now stop talking out of your arse!!! }:0
Also why didn't you post your "opinions" in this topic?
...
...Of course!
I see the light!
I FINALLY SEE THE LIGHT!
SEGA is the Jesus of the video game industry. I can't believe I never thought of this before! A company that is known for only one major franchise and numerous failed consoles is obviously destined to be number one in the end! Thank you, Pat L, for helping me realize the evils of Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft and that the billions of dollars they make compared to SEGA mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
I mean, why would SEGA stay in a secure enviroment and make decent money producing games for multiple consoles when they can just go the other way and lose millions of dollars on another failed system of their own? IT ALL ADDS UP!
Laughs at responses, Ignores SEGA bashing.)
Which is why
I can't wait until March, GDC 2006!!!!!!!
I didn't bash SEGA. All I said was they're not coming out with a new console, which is empirical f***ing fact.
Well, at least it's only a month until you eat your words, Pat.
Where did this info even coem from o.o
SEGA Bashing? They're stating what everyone already knows, SEGA have been more successful as a third party developer and producer than they have been with the Dreamcast and Saturn combined, their games are being sold on 4 home consoles and 3 hand held consoles, they get a much wider audience and bigger profit because of that. Why would they kill that now?!
You'll notice I only said "IF" not "Once" or "When".

Do you have a link to any sources? All I've seen is speculatation that there could be a delay, nothing official.
Try cnbc.com
After all, I didn't make this up it was also reported on WGN News last night and I don't even live in Chicago!!
There's no such thing as a cnbc.com, Pat.
Admit it, you pulled the whole thing out of your ass.
No I'm not going to admit because I didn't make this up.
And there's no use arguing with you cause I'm just wasting my time with illerates like you.
If you didnt make it up give us the link to the article then.
cnbc.com redirects to moneycentral.msn.com/investor/home.asp, where a search for PS3 turns up nothing related to your claims.
Found it.

It's sounds like an opinion here, but last night a reporter confirmed it.
Ah, but it says maybe. And abotu 90% of the stuff in your post (excluding the Sega stuff) isnt there.
Yes, because that website is totally like cnbc.com.
And you have the nerve to call us illiterate?
Aside from not coming from the source you originally specified, there's nothing more than speculation in that article. It doesn't prove that Sony has offcially announced anything.
...XD
::Cracks up at the Sega facts:: I'ma SEGA fanboy, but even I know they're not coming back unless something falls from the heavens and makes their system the ONLY system ever on the market :O.
Pat...you're hopes in a new Sega console are about as good as this ever happening...

Um...correct me if I'm mistaken, but isn't, oh, I don't know...SONY going to use the BLU RAY discs? Isn't that a large part of the reason the PS3 will cost so much to make, seeing that BLU RAY is a new format.

Doing what Nintendo did? Nintendo didn't make a come back in '85...That's when they started their involvement in the home console industry...
The industry isn't going to CRASH... It might decline, but it certainly won't crash... I really don't see how adding a 4th console to the industry would help it at all...I think it would further the decline in the industry...
You are a silly person, Pat L Hedgehog. Thank you for brightening my day by making me laugh.
Ah, this topic really cheered me up. Really.
...Now go to school. You apparently need it.
All right I really do think this topic has run its course due to the lovely near flame bait arguments going on here. The truth of the fact is Sony is considering pushing back the PS3 some to reduce production costs. It's all speculation depending on what website you look it, but I won't be all that surprised if it does happen.
