Apparently this game series has been all the buzz recently. With its freedom and graphics, its custom tracks option I would of died for back with my childhood of Redline Racer and Streets of Sim City. (or essentially have those two combined)

Unfortunately it only works for Windows, of course...like a lot of good things that popped up right when I switched to Mac. There does seem to be a free version just like that Audiosurf a while back. Anyway, just type "Trackmania" into youtube to see more. Be warned that many people have the habit of putting songs in. Still, there are some crazy stuff there.
Not to mention when people abuse the replays...the cars remind me so much of ants it creeps me out.....

Yeah, nobody here has ever expressed knowledge or interest of Trackmania so it's fair to say ~3 people here have ever even played it besides me, thus no threads. It's been "quietly popular" for a long time but the recent spike in activity is because Nations Forever finally became free a few days ago.

It's a very basic, very fun and very hard game series that thrives on user-created content. It'd be dead without it. Nations Forever is more like a whole new game than an expansion pack, I think I would have spent money on it if I didn't know about the bugs.

Pretty much all of the United models are compatible with NF so I've been trying the best ones out. the MiG, KITT{!}, chopper and quad are all really awesome.

I've been aware of it since Sunrise. Which was awesome. But I figured pretty much nobody played it, so I didn't bother to mention it... much.

Oh, and a DS version is coming soon, so there.

Huh. That looks interesting; the tracks are brilliant and the second one looked like it had several alternate paths, but way the cars don't react with one another (passing right thru each other, even from start-up) bugs me. It's pretty enough, and it looks like it controls well. And the loop-de-loops are so cool enough to make Sonic cry. And that's all I have to say. o.o

I've been meaning to check it out for a while now, but never got around to it. It's a cool concept and I look forward to the DS release.

Hearing a lot of stuff about the copy protection stuff this uses on it's free version. Bad stuff. It's been known to cause irreversible hardware failure on CD/DVD drives.

Then get the Steam versions, which don't have Starforce (the copy protection).

I've never heard of it before, but thought it'd be worth a shot.

Now I'm 94th out of 212 Kentuckians, working on a custom track inspired by two of my old devotions: Roller Coaster Tycoon, and Line Rider.

Starforce has been absent from Trackmania for a long time, though if old retail versions are still floating around it'd be on those.
