WII = PENIS LOL NINTENDO ARE PAEDO
To be fair, as UK: Resistance reported, a woman's magazine said that the Wii-mote had a "slick" design and has a vibrate feature.
GOD ONLY KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!
Good times.
Ha! Sweet $500 now. I'm $100 closer to obtaining one.
...
Great news!....unless like me, you still live in the UK...still, hopefully we'll hear something.
Not enough for me to consider it yet. 'sides, they're losing even more money per system now =O
Yeah, my cousin will be happy since he wants to get the PS3 and now it won't be 600 for the 60 GB, yet the Elite 360, with HDMI and 120 GB harddrive, still has the biggest memory, yet cheapest price than any of the PS3s. *shakes head*
I'm glad the attempt at hiking up the standard price of a console even further seems to be utterly failing.
The Elites also bust faster than the Premiums and WAY faster than the PS3s. So by saving $20, you're securing a much more efficient failure than any other console in noted history!
Do you happen to have a source handy?
360 standard failure rates: 33%
As for the Elites, while they haven't been out as long, both of the managers (asst. and store) at the Gamestop I regularly go to said that they've been both shipments of Elites that they sold come back to them within 2 weeks.
As for the PS3 and the Wii? Less than 1%. LOL MICROSOFT
Aha! Now the real time weapon change is on the other claw!
Who's weak point is being attacked for massive damage now, Bill Gates!
Once again, the conservative, $599-heavy portfolio pays off for the feudal Japanese investor.
Kind of hard for PS3s to break down when they arent being played...
Yeah, because we want 360s breaking only when they are played, otherwise it'd just be bad manufacturing...

Except for that whole 'Folding@Home' thing, which is designed from the ground up to work the processor to the bone in ways that would slaughter 360s on an epic scale and yet has not felled a single PS3.

Heh, nice... I thought the Elite was supposedly supposed to run cooler than the core/premium models, even without the 65nm chip. Evidently not.
As for the other stats, I'd definitely heard that the launch systems were pretty much crap. But it does seem like the problems extend beyond that somewhat, since my system, purchased in June 2006, died nine months later. Fortunately for me that was still under warranty, so they repaired it for free. Been working fine since then, so far.
And at least they've extended the warranty to three years now, including refunds to everyone who already paid for out-of-warranty repairs. Doesn't excuse the admittedly pathetic failure rate of the early consoles, but at least they're taking care of everything for free (something I don't remember hearing from Sony back in the early PS2 days).
wooooooooooow. O_O Nice. Doesn't that mean Konami would basically be going against Kojima's wishes? (since he pretty much trashed the 360 when the subject came up before) One would expect him to be less than pleased.
Sod that self-important toser. Konami pay the bills, Kojima can screw himself.
It's kind of like Resident Evil 4, where the creator said that if the game went to any other console than GameCube, that he'd "cut off [his own] head". Which obviously didn't happen despite the fact that the game did, in fact, go to the PS2.
To be honest the statement is being inerpreted to the most extreme result. It could merely be asking Sony to pay for exclusitivity, or a timed exclusitivity...it does imply that they are considering porting MGS4 to another console (MGS4: Wii edition!), but there's no indication of confirmation, nor when it would be released.

He said that as a way of saying he would quit, which he did, which is probably why Clover was absorbed.

Until you consider consider that Kojima is Konami's only remaining next-gen cash cow and they should kiss his ass as much as possible to keep him happy. Look at Konami's 360 releases. Bomberman? Rumble Roses XX? Not an impressive showing there.
Kojima is, quite frankly, the only weapon they have left. So why would they do something foolish and lose their only weapon?
Well, normally they wouldn't want to tick him off. But the existence of MG1NES, Snake's Revenge and the Metal Gear Solid 1-2 console ports seems to suggest Kojima is flexible. You know, as long as he personally doesn't have to lift a finger.
Oh boy this might get nasty. Nice to see Konami wanting to port it over. They must've joined the "Let's ruin Sony's chances of survival this generation" *shakes Konami's hand* As if the company itself had a body, that is. >_>
There was no price drop. They decided to sell a more expensive package, so stopped making the 60 ones and all the millions of unsold ones will be sold cheaper. The 80gig version (with free game) will be $600.
I suppose doing this hurts the second-hand console market because people wont be able to make a decent amount on a used 60gig now.
The supposed 'price cut' isn't affecting Europe, by the by. Oh Sony, you do us so much credit.
Kojima confirmed again that MGS4 was PS3 exclusive at E3, by the by. Not that the rumours aren't gonna come back in full swing next month.
From what i read somewhere (kotaku maybe) it was said that 80gig version will be hardware similar to that of the euroversion, i.e lacks the ps2 chip (correct me if i'm wrong). Also i was lead to believe that it was possible for uses to self upgrade the HHD in ps3s? as such for 30 stick in a much larger drive o:
*bangs head against desk* Is Sony naturally this stupid, or do they just practice.
Hahaha not sure Ray. They've got to have some trick up their sleeve, they're hurting bad right now.
It should be noted that an SCEA person has since stepped up and confirmed that this story is FALSE. The 60GB is here to stay.
Whoa wait. 80gig. I don't know why I thought the new one was a 120 gig one. o_o
120 Gig is the 360 Elite. You're getting your consoles confused.
This article is constantly updating trying to get to the bottom of the 60GB console thing. Current update? According to Karraker, "The 60GB PS3 will be available in North America for $499 until supplies of that unit are depleted. We have ample inventory to meet the immediate needs of consumers in this territory for several months to come. We won't be making any further announcements regarding our hardware offerings in the North America at this time."

I dunno. I'm thinking the fact that the 60GB model plays PS2 games while the 80 doesn't will leave them still sought after by a lot of people.
Wow you're right THS. Geez i'm out of it today. lol But i'm going to take another stab at it. Spite, while the 80GB model does not have backward compatibilty component, i'm nearly positive I read something about some adapter thing you could buy for it that plays PS1/2 games. I'm not sure what it was, but there was something to make up for the fact that it doesn't play PS1/2 games, besides the 20GB. I saw it on G4. *shrugs*
so...
XB360: Game Console that needs add on to play HD movies
PS3: Game console that needs add on to play games?
It doesn't just have the chips that the EU PS3s have?
If so, it's not like it'll have a siezure when you put in a PS2 disk. Relax, people, sheez. It's nothing the X360 doesn't do WORSE.
Haahhaa SX, I do respect your constant "taking up fo the PS3". I do the same for the Dreamcast...except mine is mostly a dead attempt, considering...it's...it's *sniffle*...deeeeeaaaaadddd!! ='(

You know, I was actually interested in buying one, but no. Don't they comprehend that backwards compatibility was part of the power of the PS2? That PS2 games and the PS2 are still selling strong? I'm not going near a PS3 without backwards compatibility.
To be perfectly fair, there is backwards compatibility without the emotion engine. It just isn't as comprehensive. I'm not sure on how many titles are supported, whether they'll ever update it and how it compares to the hardware emulation, but I should think most of the fundamental titles should play. I know not all of them do, tho - I recall Metal Gear Solid 2 having problems.
MGS2, wow thats like a pretty high selling title. Come on Sony. Get with it. Next it'll be like God of War/II not working and Gran Turismo 4 or something.
So buy the marked down 60GB now, Vec. o.o
And again, it's not like no PS/PS2 game will work. Oh, also, I find the PS3 upscaling PS/2 games to be quite effective - It makes old games not look like ass on HD.
Well, at least Sony had a nice E3. Right?
Not at first, SX - before they released some firmware updates the old stuff looked like utter s**t. Kudos to them for fixing it.
And also, the backwards compatability of the 360 isn't very great either. Barbie Horse Adventures, but no Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory? F**k that.
But it does have Pychonauts!
At least the majority of nonworking PS2 games are crap.
And yeah, the original firmware didn't do anything, but the point is that they fixed it, and it looks great. Same with DVDs, too. I have a DVD player right next to my PS3, but I use the PS3 for DVDs, because it looks better.
