You know there's over a million consoles at launch, right? You know that's more units than any other console has ever had at launch? I wouldn't wait in line either, there would be plenty to go around.

That's one million for Europe. I think 200,000 was the figure for the UK. It's average, if not normal.

Ontopic: A little thing I've noticed: right now, Sony is the best first-party developer out there. Microsoft hasn't had a big first-party hit since Forza 1. Nintendo has Zelda... and little else right now from under the Big N tent. But in the last 2 years, Sony's had two Ratchet & Clanks, 2 Jaks, Shadow Of The Colossus, Resistance and both God Of Wars. And yet Sony gets no credit for this.

And let's not forget Tekken. If they can come out one that plays very well and utilizes the power of the PS3 (Remember how pretty Tekken 5 looked anyone?) that would boost sales greatly. Not much else in the 3D fighting game genre is as strong...well except perhaps VF5 or Soul Calibur (Though SC3 seemed to take a step back)

Still Nintendo does have Mario (Even if NSMB was lacking and Sunshine was kinda lame), Star Fox (Who wouldn't give for a REAL Star Fox game? None of that on foot junk), Metroid and yes even Pokemon (How is this game still popular?)

And the XBox has...uh...that Halo game...and...

Gears of War? Dead Rising? Crackdown? Probably some others if i thought about it.

EDIT: Oh wait, first party. Yeah, I'll submit to that, but still, that's not to say Microsoft's not without its exclusives.

The Mario games are worthless to me. Microsft DOEShave Halo, and...and...Uh...

Anyway, I'm still waiting for a rush of Japanese games, they're always crazy and fun. 😛 I may pick up FFXVIII, my first Final Fantasy game.

Chu chu sonic, do you have ANYTHING constructive to add to this discussion, or are you just committed to posting random anti-Sony nonsense for no reason?

Put bluntly, get with the discussion or leave

uh dude alot of people were talking about there ps2s failing so i joined in and told them about my friends expirience, i like the ps2 its not a bad console its just the ps3 that im not a fan of, like i said before alot of OTHER people were taliking about there problems with there ps2s so you dont need to single me out.

But, Chu, that isn't the PS2 failing as much as it is some gear got stuck, a problem that could most likely be fixed with a srewdriver, or a Gamestop and fifty bucks.

And let's not forget Tekken.
Um... Tekken is made by Namco. It is exclusive, but not first-party. And that "exclusive" thing could change.

Sony: FFXIII PS3 exclusivity under discussion

Sony France executive says in interview that Square Enix's latest installment may not be exclusive to the console after all.

Helloooooooooooo. Again, it's another series I don't have any interest in, but multi-platform=win :D

Certainly doesn't mean for sure that it'll go multi-platform, but it's interesting to see that the possibility is there.

Everywhere I'm reading is saying the difference between the number of consoles estimated to be sold and the actual number sold is apparently a "nice" margin. Depending on source and area, a margin of 1,000 or more.

From what I've seen, there were lots of places where the PS3 sold great, and lots of places where it didn't sell so great. The only way we'll ever know how well the launch went is when the sales numbers are released.

PS3 is like the George Bush of video games. Everyone hates it. MOST (MOST) (*MOST*) (NOT ALL) people, when asked for a reason, give something akin to "i think the ps3 suxxx0rz cuz lol x360 rulz" or "george bush caused 911 IMPEECH HIM KILL BUSH *posts on MySpace*" The fact that relatively few people do it HERE doesn't mean people that use reason are a majority to most gamers. And while they may not actually research as much, they still matter, because their money still goes to the companis, and that still shows what console is successful, rightfully or not.

Before you all post WELL I HAVE GOOD REASON *LIST* please take note of the "NOT ALL," then post "I Like The PS3" and/or "Xbox Sux" on GameFAQs, IGN, or what-have-you.

Even if you agree, do it anyway, 'cause it sounds really really fun to read the replies. I don't have anything constructive to add for the moment, but I still wanted to say that.

Honestly I have nothing against the PS3, dude. I want one. Right now just for AC4 and so that I can play my PS2 library, but Tekken 6 will be here some day. And I know there will be other games i'll want. BTW, the PS3 doesn't play DvDs(movies) does it?

It plays anything that doesn't have an HDDVD logo on it.

Maybe most people dislike it because of the huge price, the lack of quality games and the fact that it is Sony and it's bound to have problems with it (Dead pixels in the PSP, Disc read error on the PS2 and who knows what on the Playstation)

I only dislike the price and the fact that 5 Sony products have up and died on me (One Playstation and countless PS2's). When the price goes down, I will look into getting one since I plan to buy all 3 next gen systems.

With the right USB accessories and a [free] OS, it would not surprise me.

"(Dead pixels in the PSP, Disc read error on the PS2 and who knows what on the Playstation)"

My DS has two dead pixels, my PSP has none. See past posts on my PS2's record. 'Who knows what' is your problem with it? o.o If you don't know of any problems with a console, don't list it as having problems, then say "well, who knows what problems it had!"

Oh good grief...I said that because I remember there being problems with the original Playstation but I couldn't remember at the time.

...and do you remember now...?

Well, I remember that my first PS froze games when it was overheating due to the fan-placement(or was it a lack of a fan in general) to the arrangement of the laser. I remember buying a revised model just so I can finish playing FFVII which as in '97. Then that model finally broke down in 2001.

Our first PS2 was doing all-right since 2000, until around '03 when it stared getting disc read errors on PS1 games and those blue-tinted PS2 disc games. So we got a revised PS2 that year, and it hasn't crapped out since--thankfully.

Oh and about the PS3, most people dismiss it because it is too expensive for a gaming console(that's what most people percieve it as, not an entertainment center like Sony wants it to be), and homes with HD sets are still in the minority.

Homes with HD sets are not the minority - they're around 50%, and the other 50%, a high percent of them intend to buy an HD set within 12 months.

...in the US.

I remember the sorry thing dying on me only after a few months, and my family is not one to use a Playstation a whole lot.

And 50 percent own HDTV? Do you know how expensive those are?

Hmm. Apparently, test data ranges. I've always heard 50% when doing my own research. Beyond that, everyone I know has one.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! XDXDXD! @ HSW. 2015. Oh man. Ok, sorry. I really felt like that needed to be let out. lol But taking Statistics this year has taugh tme that collecting data from samples that are easy for you to get(everyone you know has HD) is known as convenience sampling and it isn't proper for a population(mu) hypothesis. >_>

Consumer Reports, iirc, Ashide - Dad subscribes to the magazine. I'm pretty sure that's where I heard it.

Beyond that, I hate "source or you're a total liar" arguements because unlike a lot of people, apparently, I don't keep track of where I learned every single little fact, figure, percent, or trivia. I don't like, write this crap down, I just read the article/magazine/Wiki link/Google page/Whatever Else and learn the facts. If you're so desperate to find a source, YOU google it.

I didn't say "everyone I k now has one, and that's 50% of America," DPG. I said that I heard that 50% of homes do, and threw that in because, knowing that, 50% didn't surprise me.

Now, because I have refused to show a source, I will say this: It's possible that I misquoted. Maybe 50% of middle- and upper-class homes. That sounds more likely.

Stop being lazy and verify that something is true before you post it, then.

While no one is expected to keep track of where they learned every single little fact, figure, percent, or trivia, usually one is expected to provide sources for their facts when using them in a debate or discussion, since otherwise they could just be pulling random things out of thin air for all anyone else knows.
