It's only a matter of time before Link's driving a car to the next dungeon, lol.
I'm happy. Phantom Hourglass was challenging and fun, barring the just plain stupid Ocean Temple and I'm sure this one will be too.
So it's a Zelda...racer...of...sorts? With...trains? Ahh hell, as long as Linebeck returns, I'll be damn happy. He was too awesome. Provided it's even in the same continuity. *shrugs*
Dang, I just rememberd that I never finished Phantam Hourglass. It's lost in the bottomless pit of games that I've never finished.
This one looks really interesting though. I'll definately like to see some more.
I dunno....I didn't enjoy Phantom Hourglass, though so long as their are no timed dungeons I'm fine. I guess my real first problem here is that it's the sixth Zelda game to use the Wind Waker art style, and as much as I love it in that game, I'm freaking sick of it. I wish it had a brand new art style, but this is a superficial argument really.
Other worry is that train tracks are linear, and I really hope you can stop and get off to explore.
Well I guess it was only a matter of millenia before Hyrule managed to develop some technology.
Still, if this is the Wind Waker universe, is there enough land for trains to run on?
Also... why is there so much media dedicated to trains? They're not that interesting. They derailed Back to the Future, they ringed Ringo into narration.
No more trains, dang it.
On a more topic relevant note, I couldn't tollerate Phantom Hourglass' control so I didn't even play past the first island. I doubt this new game will entice me without a very interesting gimmick. Trains don't cut it.

No. No. I wanted to leave it alone... but seriously!? TRAINS. WHY?! Any single British forumer who has spent 4 hours at Crewe's junction of dead trains hoping that the drunken driver's replacement will arrive sooner knows this as fact. TRAINS ARE BORING. They start. They stop. No amount of British Rail douchebaggery has made them interesting in the past, how can fantasy change this?
Epona? Horse? AWESOME! Horses chasing trains? AWESOME.
Ships. Not so awesome. But you know what they can do? TURN.
Trains. Are. Dull.
Not even a cute bouncy girl with nunchucks in a yellow cloth of some kind can disuade me. SCREW. TRAINS. FOREVER.

...woah. I have no idea what happened there. I just blacked out while typing. Rather than do a sensible thing like scroll up and review my post, I'll press reply now.

Silly old Craig, they haven't been british rail for years! privatisation mades trains a lot more fun strikes, delays, fare increases etc.
Also don't forget about the jumpers! This game needs to have a few jumpers...
Waiting at Clapham Junction trying to get home >=/ why can't people splat themselves elsewhere! Also my god, the damage that a person can do to the front of a train is quite o_o

Did you see the trailer? These are trains with cannons! They're the most badass of all trains!
And call me a girly girl, but I squealed seeing Link's conductor uniform. I am so glad they went for the Toon Link style. It fits the DS handheld and I adore the artistic look out of most of the others in the Zeldaverse.
eh... I'll pass. Not interested in this at all. Cool for you guys with DS's though. Someone wake me up when they announce a new Wii Zelda.
Looks interesting, but I need to see more. It's hard to think that the technology in Zelda is evolving with trains and all, but I can take it the same way I did Warcraft. We went from bows and arrows, to guns, to underground trains, and all sorts of crazy stuff.
Now, I must wonder when Link starts manning a gattling gun and takes off his shirt all Rambo style.

RAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(in my heart I know its true though...)
When Hiro told me there was a new zelda coming out, I was obviously interested, but given the current crop of zelda games my interest was small. And then Hiro said it would involve trains, so my mind instantly flashed to the idea of a steampunk esque zelda, which would have been %#%#%!* awesome.
Then he said it was out for the ds, which in no way would be able to replicate my idea anywhere near good enough.
And then I saw the images that are out about it.
No longer interested.

I kinda have some small hopes a future Zelda game will employ an airship of sorts. I like big, fanciful planes, can ya blame me?
Trains. Are. Dull.
HOW VERY DARE YOU
Trains are beautiful wonders of technology. Wonderful. Drew them a lot for my A-level 🙂
*puts anorak on*
Oh... wait. This topic is Zelda isn't it. Umm... I dunno, never played a zelda game in my life and i haven't touched my ds in a year or something. Useless post ahoy!
*runs off to the local train station to take photos*
There really isn't that large a difference between a ship riding along a pre-set path and a train rolling along a track. I'm bored of rolling waves in my Zelda by now, anyway. He's on LAND again, thank God, let's see some variety! Speaking of the land, perhaps this game will explain how Link and Zelda will create a new Hyrule. Do they find a continent? Does the water subside? I'll just have to wait and see.
They were also pimping out the new weapons in that trailer a lot. The Leaf Fan has potential (and is another call back to Wind Waker) and there was an interesting, Dominion Rod-esque bit where Link could switch between himself and drawing a line for this Phantom Knight thing to walk along, kinda like the 2-player in Phantom Hourglass.
This looks interesting. From what I'm seeing, it's probably a different TLOZ story with Wind Waker art style, like Four Swords/Adventures and the Minish Cap.
Of course, my inner-crazy-fangirl reaction was something along the lines of: "OMGITZANEWZELDAGAMEMUSTHAVEDESU!!"
If I weren't sick I'd definitely be sitting in front of the computer right now with a freakish grin on my face. >.<;;
SPOILERS AHOY! (though honestly, it's pretty damn obvious... in hindsight)

So Zelda finally gets to join Link on one of his adventures... took long enough. I loled when the mouse startled her. Also: was that Rope Snake?
The cover art in the preview links reminds me of something... lemme think.
Tiny little blonde haired badass with a tendancy to use bladed weapons and his sidekick, the spirit of a loved one who possesses a suit of armor.
Where have I seen that before...
I like this idea. I don't think previous Zelda games actually HAD Link and Zelda travel together, so to see some visible interaction between the two will be much welcome.

Ha! Good eye. But despite that curious coincidence, I still find that the PAL/JPN boxart trumps it in pure aesthetics.
Damn if that isn't a good looking cover.
Awesome, this is definitely one of the few DS games I'm looking forward to this holiday season... I think after this, all that remains is Edgeworth's game, that Okami sequel, and HeartGold.

Too bad she's invisible and is impersonating a suit of armor so you can't really see her amirite?
So yeah, I haven't played Hourglass yet as I wasn't too keen on the touch-control only option. Not sure if i'll get this one either. How well was it implemented in PH anyway for those of you that have played it?
It reminded me of that too, Craig. XD
I saw the trailer this morning on my Wii's Nintendo Channel. Pretty badass. Those who complained about Zelda's minimalist involvement during Phantom Hourglass, especially as a sequel to WIND WAKER of all games, can rest easy as she's with him all the way. ^^
I for one found the Touch Screen Implementation on PH impeccable, but some had problems with it. And they were losers.

OH HAY I SEE WHAT YOU DID THAR.
100 years later or not, I hope Zelda still keeps that spunky personality Tetra had. I always liked that and personally, made her my favorite Zelda. Something has to fill the void now that Linebeck (as far as I know) isn't here!
Okay so I obviously haven't read up much on this game but remembering what the recent Ratchet and Clank had me thinking how fun it'd be if you were able to go on little side missions to earn Rupees, weapons or even spells. I mean he has a train, so that means he'd be able to go pretty far distances, right? Or am I simply asking too much?
Some Game Trailers video, for those that haven't seen them yet.
GT review. Also, contains a bit of spoilers. Including (spoilers)Linebeck's descendant.(spoilers)
A video showing the Ice Temple, and a bit of the stylus usage.
And how Zelda uses her possesion technique.
HOLY BLEEP DO WANT
I don't even buy Zelda games normally but the whole idea of drawing tracks so your train can run through those dungeons is so cool. Trains, and train style Zelda music!
I HAVE IT
AND IT IS AWESOME
<3 @ Postman. "Chuggachugga chuggachugga."
Zelda accompanying you brought his other companions to mind automatically, but when she's in the Phantom, her vocalizations become a bit echo-y, sounding uncannily like Midna. Just something fun I noticed.
But despite that curious coincidence, I still find that the PAL/JPN

I lamented the American box art too, seeing that cover, at first. Until I got it home, that is.
Sit the US boxart next to the PAL boxart.
I like the PAL version a lot, but when I got my game home and put it on a shelf with my collection of DS games, I noticed something.
Sit it next to Phantom Hourglass's box, and they form a quite pleasing, Silver/Gold complement to each other. ^_^
