..... the Sega Dreamcast was released in the US and then in Australia about a month or two afterwards. Because of this, I decided to set up my Dreamcast for the first time in YEARS (as far as I can remember). It was COVERED in dust, all of it - the controller, the wires, the console itself etc. I wiped the dust away as much as I could, had it connected properly and then pressed the power button. The light didn't turn on. I pressed it again, but the light still didn't turn on. By this point I was almost in tears. I removed the wires, removed some more of the dust that was on them, plugged the wires back in again and this time, miraculously enough, it worked. I played a bit of Sonic Adventure and played as Sonic in Emerald Coast and Windy Valley. I'm about to hit up Speed Highway. The NOSTALGIA, people! THE NOSTALGIA!!!!!

SUMMER OF 99 = BEST TIME OF MY LIFE!!!!!

YES!!!!!!!!!

Today is dedicated to a console that was doing big things way ahead of its time. Some of the most authentic games and largest library of arcade ports[i'd say it had more than the Neo Geo, wouldn't you?] to have ever appear on a home console. It really was like a home arcade. Sonic's rise back to the top as well as SEGA's las effort to stay alive. =/ If only it could've played dvds.

Bu hey...look at the respect and attention the DC is geting. The History of my Love.

The Favorite 25 Children of my Love.

*sighs*

Happy 10th birthday Dreamcast . Ah the memories of the first console I bought with my own money. I still play the Dreamcast everytime I can. Shenmue is still my favorite game follow by Sonic Adventure 1. Till this day I find it surprising that other console developers didn't try to mimick or evolve the VMU. A visual memory card was brilliant idea. Anyway thanks for the memories.

Happy 10th birthday Dreamcast .

Yup, happy 10th birthday Dreamcast!

Ah the memories of the first console I bought with my own money.

You too man? Sweet!

I still play the Dreamcast everytime I can.

I played my Dreamcast today for the first time in AGES. The whole '10th anniversary' thing got me excited in a geeky kinda way, so I connected my Dreamcast and had some nostalgic fun playing Sonic Adventure for a few hours - just like the good ol' days!

Till this day I find it surprising that other console developers didn't try to mimick or evolve the VMU. A visual memory card was brilliant idea. Anyway thanks for the memories.

Like you, I also find it astonishing that other console developers haven't tried to expand the VMU concept (yet! ). I guess in that way (and in some other ways as well), the Sega Dreamcast was indeed ahead of its time. Also, you're right, that visual memory card was indeed a brilliant idea. I enjoy the cute little chao images and images of other Sonic characters that appear on my VMU whenever I play Sonic Adventure. <3

Anyway thanks for the memories.

You're welcome, man. Oh, and thanks for the memories you provided too. And thanks to the memories Neal provided as well (I CAN call you that, right Neal? RIGHT?!?!?! ).

Ten years this Christmas for me, but man, there was nothing better. I still buy games for it too this day and I'll be buying more soon, like Plasma Sword, and Space Channel 5, but the games I had back then, both Sonic Adventures, both MvCs, both Shenmues, Capcom VS SNK, Tech Romancer, Psychic Force 2012, PSO...so many more as well. Pure, gaming bliss.

I don't think I own a crap game on the system, now excuse me as I go to play some Cannon Spike!

Highly doubt a next gen console due to the financial implications, limiting themselves to one console is an obvious limiter, and with three popular consoles already on the market, and themselves on a seesaw when it comes to sales. Most likely console possibility would be to release a new version of the Dreamcast, compatible with all GDRoms previously released, but even that's unlikely. Best we can hope for a DC game rereleases.

Besides, I don't want a Dreamcast sequel, I want DreamArena to return, and support for the old system!

They have three consoles on the market? That shouldnt count Genesis, Game Gear, or anything else you couldn't find at GameStop.

Why is 5 the magical number? Funny you say that though...because we could say there are 6...PSP[and new additions], DS[and new additions] and PC as well. 😛

My Dreamcast is still out, right next to my modem and my Wii. I bought it in 06 though. I was debating whether to buy an Xbox or Dreamcast back in 01. As I recall Dreamcast was going down to hell but it was much cheaper. And it came with 3 games, despite them being sports games. Anyways Shenmue is the best, even though 3 won't ever come out. Much love to Jet Grind Radio, Code Veronica, the Nomad Soul, and Space Channel 5.

I agree, just cuz PS3 is out doesnt mean PS2 is dead. Still, if a Dreamcast 2 came out before Christmas, I would put it on my list of wants. Pretty much ANY game console I dont already have, heck, even a GAMECUBE dammit, is on my list of wants. Dreamcast, Dreamcast 2, (if happens) XBox, XBox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, I JUST WANT GAMEAGE

Yeah, get a Wii since Wiis are backwards-compatible (ie. they can play Gamecube games). More value for money.
