this is the first time i've been mad at nintendo. they've pleased me with all their consoles from snes to today. today i bought he wi-fi usb connector. it's such a pain. when putting in the disc it tells me to connect it to the usb so i do. then it loads up the first window and at the end of it an error message comes up saying to connect it even though it's already connected. yall know im looking for help. idk whether to post in here or the gaming academy w/e board.
Gaming Academy. FOR GREAT JUSTICE.
I can't help you, I took the 'wireless router' option.
I had the exact same problem, too! =O
Here's what I did and it worked perfectly:
- system restore to a point prior of any attempted installation (to be sure to erase all the files that installed)
- before starting the installation again, turn off all firewalls (includes WINDOWS FIREWALL!!, turn off antiviruses, too, just in case)
- now the installation should work
Just download the new driver...
Yeah I had some issue with it as well but a new driver helped worked, too. The barcode esque lines pissed be off to no end, tho.
Wireless connection.
Happens to me with my Wii. Now I can't connect to the internet on it. I just thought that there was something wrong with my computer...
My Zone Alarm Firewall seems to have trouble with the USB connector... So I have to take it down while playing.
Which is extremely dangerous for your computer's health and is what convinced me to buy the Wii's LAN Adapter for dorm usage instead (among other reasons, like my university strictly forbidding you from creating Wi-Fi spots - which is what that does).
Using ZoneAlarm is probably a worse idea than having no firewall at all.
Alright, is there ANY firewall I could use that you wouldn't wind up saying sucks somewhere down the line? I mean, last I checked, your verdicts:
Norton? Sucks.
McAfee? Sucks worse.
ZoneAlarm? Apparently worse than no firewall.
So, please, humor me.
In other news, I greatly approve of your new avatar.
I was exaggerating because I hate ZoneAlarm. Security-wise it's perfectly fine, but it's a bloated, glitch-riddled RAM pig that eats up resources and bothers incessantly with irritating pop-ups. Honestly, if you're a consumer all you really need is a solid, secure router and a fully updated Windows firewall.
Wait, what's this adaptor for, anyway? For people with highspeed but not Wifi?
As for security - Norton Internet Security '06 works great for me. o_o
It's basically a Wi-Fi access point that you can connect directly to your PC via USB, but it only allows a DS to connect through it (I'm assuming no one's found a way to hack it to allow connections from other devices). So yeah, it's an inexpensive Wi-Fi solution for those who lack it.
