I've been thinking a lot about Pokmon recently.

The series has had a few small improvements since the initial release of Red/Blue, but no full-blown innovation. Its console variations are also fairly lacking.

The reveal of Pokmon Farm for the WiiWare service got me thinking about the nature of the series and how it could be expanded using the internet.

What follows are my ideas for a Next Generation Pokmon game for Wii.

My idea for the game is simple, it needs to be an MMO. This series just screams for global play over the internet.

-Create your own unique Pokmon Trainer.
-Choose your starter Pokmon.
-Enter into a vast, sprawling world where you must find and capture Pokmon, train them, and battle other trainers.

It sounds so simple, but Nintendo could really take things to the next level with official sponsored torunaments with actual prizes one could actually use in the game.

As with the portables, certain Pokmon can only be found during particular times of the day or even different seasons.

Players could find eachother and battle in the wild or enter Stadiums and participate in various battles with varying rules.

There would, of course, be a simple quest-based storyline for players to follow, but the meat of the game would be exploration of the world and obtaining Pokmon.

I also think the trading and breeding elements could be expaneded on. Perhaps some players, instead of participating in battles, could focus on the capture and breeding of Pokmon and sell them to other players.

I think this is the natural progression for the series and the perfect direction for it to take.

Comments? Suggestions?

Ah, I forgot to mention storage options.

Nintendo could handle this one of two ways.

1) Release a firmware update allowing players to use USB harddrives or

2) Bundle a small HDD, perhaps only 8gigs or so, with the game.

Christ man, breeding is already complex ENOUGH. EV's and IV's hurt braincells.

But yes, there is a goldmine here to be cashed in. Just don't let Sony Online NEAR it.

EV's and IV's are annoying and I kinda wish they weren't part of Gameplay -.- Natures, alright, I can contend with that, but ugh, dealing with people and 31 IV HAHAH HP FLYING KILLZ! is well...rather bothersome. Yeah.. >>

Sorry, little Poke-rant there...

With the 4th generation still being newish, thinking of things for Pokemon 5 kind of hurts my brain.

But I knooow I want an item that lets me see what pokemon is about to leap out from the wild and an option to cancel the encounter.

Well, no Pokemon 5 NEEDS A MALE Kangaskhan >> I'm really sick of waiting for one. Seriously. That is the #1 Pokemon everyone was kinda wondering about. We get Tauros' counterpart, what's up with the kangaroo ?!?!?

But now to add to this topic.

I agree that creating a personalized trainer would be fantastic, they could cut down on body designs by using the Mii functionality. I wouldn't mind that, weird looking Mii's in a better detailed world. Be kinda funny actually.

If they did put some thought in the bodies, PBR'S body models weren't that bad. Heck I would like it if they kept those battle pass designs as the base templates for your iD card type deal -and you could edit it and add stuff to it. That would be hot.

-Official Tournaments would suck. I'm SURE you played PBR and dealt with the lag you get fighting someone in Japan. And then they would most likely have to fix their dumb filters so one one comes at me with Haxxored Wondertomb/eye -.-.. Seriously. I fought two of those last night. Lost because I was not paying attention, though I was like "YER GHO/DRK! DIE!" But maybe they could hold enough of them in every region os everyone could win some special Pokemon after attaining enough wins. That would be nice.

And then you travel and people see how much you really accomplished. That would be nice. >>

-Different seasons no. Hell no. I'm not waiting no three months for no Yanma to DECIDE to spawn. No. Time of day/week at the most. Unless it was cool like somewhere rivers dried up and Mudkips are all over the place xD.

--* Oh! I want to to be able to pick up a Pokemon and hightail it. Seriously. I wanna steal Pokemon. And then fight someone to keep it. All day I'd steal crap. xD. No not really, but that would be an awesome element for Ninty to control. dealing with thieves and what not.

--Open Stadiums would be nice, you walk up-register, and then sit in a lobby with cornball music plays. Pick up a copy of Home and Bulbagarden, lazily flip through it. Pull out your.....Grovyle and groom it, then OK time to battle. Nice. Nice.

People opening shops for breeding and grooming and happiness and OMG..

EV..TRAINERS!

I WOULD FRICKING PAY SOMEONE TO DO THAT FOR ME! You give them like 3K, and you have to give them the Pokemon with the move you are trying to breed onto the female of the species (case in point, You have to give the person your Swinub with Ice Shard and a female Donphan) They then give you back a Phanphy with around 25-31 IV set and Adamant Nature. And they could limit you to maybe 2 Pokemon a week or some jack. That would rock so hard. Cuz I'm lazy. Real lazy.

-Dodging battles would be very hot. Like you could catch glimpses of what was running around, that would be nice. Or if you could have a Ralts out, and they told you what ability it was tracing, you could intuitively guess what was coming, and run away. That would be hot.

--*Those would be nice. >o Hopefully Ninty dosen't ever read this thread and goes HA now we never do it -.-.
