So I'm trying to play MGS3 and any time I pick up and item or weapon it is not going into my inventory, I'm not sure if this is a Substinance only thing or I'm doing something wrong, but it's making the game impossible to play.
Any help would be appreciated...

Equip 'em in the sub-menu. Then you'll be able to wield them.
