I don't know the details, but...
Spoilers (Select To Read): Yeah, she's back... at least briefly.
ED: Well, if there was any doubt to "Apollo Justice", doubt no more. It's a trailer. It doesn't really kick in until 1:06 but it's still a trailer.
Now if only the trailer was in ENGLISH. Any French people know what they're saying there? Doubt it's anything particularly important (after all, this is the same company who has given us such great lines as "You're just a guy in a mask!"), but hell, it's something.
ED 2: Actually it looks like it's just this one again (spoilers in the comments, I've noticed, so beware) but now in French, and with translated names. Well, better than nothing!
I'm guessing you guys missed this, but the PW soundtracks are coming to the US
EDIT: It be official... Press Release will be forthcoming =) The dude says later something about other merch
I saw it on Court Records a while back. Will probably buy it eventually since i was planning on importing from Japan initially~
Well, GMO anyway. Jazz Soul can piss off.
None of the Brits seem to like Jazz Soul =
Also, I will be disapointed if the rumors of a Oct release of T&T is true... Although the Capcom Store still says Sept... If it isn't, I will probably import...
Hmmph, their loss.
Anyway, apparently that's precisely what Capcom was putting out at ComicCon - i.e., yes, it's been delayed to October. I'm not planning on importing, though, since that's less incentive for Capcom to bring over Apollo Justice (as if they wouldn't anyway)...
I could barely discern any of the tunes they're based off in Jazz Soul, and those I can fail to enthrall me. They go on for too long with too little variation to maintain interest. And Steel Samurai, a usual highlight for me in PW-related music, was too poor to bear.
GMO FTW
Yeah, Jazz Soul was crap. Bring over GMO ftmfw.

Indeed, I'm just glad that I don't have capped internets bandwidth.
As someone who has been rejecting this Apollo (Cutman) creature as much as I can, that video did make me smile in two ways.
1. His voice. Oh man, his voice. Sounds amazing!
2. Kristoph Gavin is the best name they could have possibly given defense attorney dude.
Trucy/Apollo... less so. But if everyone calls him Justice and perhaps gives him a nickname instead of saying Apollo all the time, I can bare.
Is it wrong for me to start dreaming? AA3 comes out about 5 months after it's English trailer.
A Feb/March release date would be nice.
As Craig says, Trucy and Apollo will take a lot of getting used to. Though the voice is nice. And I second early-next-year release date, for the US at least. I'm importing anyway so
Saw this last night, decided not to post due to the poor audio/video lineup >>... And I didn't know if I should bump or make a new (see my idiot idea for the KH DS topic )
Early 08 release would be awesome. I also enjoy the names.
Trucy is deliciously hilarious.
Offical Press Release... AA4 on Feb 12th!
Although damn it, why is it the same day (okay 2 off) from Brawl... God damn it Capcom!
obviously Phoenix (or Apollo, as it were) takes priority
Played it last night... I NEED this game right now.
I don't have any sound on the demo. T_T
My demo won't load at all. =( I just stare at a stupid DS.
I just completed Case 1 of Apollo Justice, and it was utterly stellar. All the new characters were interesting and the case storyline itself was fantastic. The raging plot twists were fantastic and kept me clued to my seat... and I'm interested in discovering the truth of the overarching mystery behind the whole thing.
The new Percieve system sounds cracking! 😀 My only slight dissapointment so far is that it seems the case illustrations you unlock after finishing a case are gone: I didn't recieve one for beating Case 1. But oh well.
The translation is also superb and I only spotted one spelling mistake in the whole case; where the Judge says 'Cout' instead of 'Court', but its still brilliant nonetheless. The new touch screen elements are also pretty cool, I can't wait to see how they expand the interaction.
Pach you liar! You said you didn't expect the game till Thursday!
DAMN YOU GAMESTOP! HOW THE HELL DOES SOMEONE WHO IMPORTED THE GAME ACTUALLY GET IT BEFORE ME?
hong kong power
(Initially I said I'd expect it by Wednesday at the earliest before changing my mind to Thursday since even to me, 2 days shipping sounds ultra quick.)
THAT SAID:
HONG KONG POWAH!!
(I've finished Day 1 of Case 2. So awesome <3)
I'm still a good 9 hours away from having my copy in my hands.... that keychain had better be damned worth it.
It's not. 😀
SHUT UP I HATE YOU
I remember when all of you were dreading the announcement of a new lawyer...
how times have changed.
Admittedly, he still has an awfully stupid name.
And Phoenix Wright isn't awfully stupid either? We just got used to it is all. Seriously. Who names a lawyer Phoenix? And what person in their right mind would give a laywer Wright as a surname and not expect it to be made fun of?
I'm fond of the name, and the person it belongs to is adorable ^__^ **squees** Srsly, I don't think I've fangirled for a character this hard since the first time I saw Edgeworth (that one faded quickly, though... so I'll say Link instead 8D)
Anyway, I'm STUCK on the first case already without a Kitty to fall back on, so if anyone can help me out...? I dunno how to set up spoiler tags (and if it's in HTML or EzCodes), so can someone help me out with that before helping with the case itself?
~Shadowed Spirit Sage
Just type <span style="color:black;background-color:black"><font color=white>Spoilers (Select To Read):</font> Whatever it is </span> and use HTML.
EDIT: LOL, it changes it to HTML style even when typing in plain text ><
<.spoiler.> What you want to type <./spoiler.> ... but without the periods.
And yeah, I can help... if I can remember. I'm stuck on the day 1 investigating of Case 2 D:
I. Love. This. Game.
That is all.
I'm about to start the final trial of Case 3.
It's all good stuff.
Thanks, Hiro **hug** I got sick of running in circles, so I used my one and only "Get out of stuckville with Gamefaqs as your guide free" pass. Kinda sucks that I used it on the first case, but whatever.
Now I'm stuck on Day 1 of the second case. All I have to say is Spoilers (Select To Read): WE'RE FREAKING DEFENSE ATTORNEYS, NOT PANTY/NOODLE CART THIEF/HIT AND RUN INVESTIGATORS. oVO Bigger problem though is that I investigated the garage. Found the magic bloomers and the cellphone and (finally) noticed the broken mirror. It says I need to show evidence to prove its relevance, but I don't think I have it, unless it happens to be said phone/bloomers.
And finally, Kristoph Gavin is Spoilers (Select To Read): (pardon my language, but) amazingly badass. His exit seemed to be a cross between Gant and Mr. von Karma. Oh freaking snap.
~Shadowed Spirit Sage
Sage, investigate the entrance to the park again. More specifically, the garbage can.
Though I've only read 2 opinions on Apollo, I think I know how it is. He's like Raiden from MGS2 - he's not liked because he's not Snake, or rather, Phoenix. He lacks the style, somehow, and many fans will find themselves incapable of accepting him. Like Raiden, though, he still has a reason for being: you play from a different perspective to Snake/Phoenix, the former protagonist, and watch him do stuff.
I've been reading complaints about this game since the first day of the JP release, mostly about how past characters are represented or a lack thereof. Since there have been a few from respectable people, it's been on my mind since the game was first released way back then.
They were wrong.
Case 1:
Fantastic; best first case by miles. Time for spoiler tags. Need I say anything about the twist, or rather, twists? (Un)fortunately, I already spoiled myself on them as soon as the information was on the internet. Phoenix standing beside you and walking Apollo through the whole thing was really awesome.
Case 2:
Pretty good. About par for the course as far as secondary cases go. I didn't like the characters much, but Plum and Guy were pretty cool. Also, Indestructible Phoenix is great. Plowed through by a speeding vehicle, knocked thirty feet into a lamppost, and...what's this!? A sprained ankle!? Oh dear! I shall rest{slack off} in hospital for a few days and dine on fine wines{grape juice}.
Case 3:
I don't have much to say about this case, really, though it did manage to trip me up quite a bit. The only difficult case in the game, I feel. Full of surprises, too. Again, par for the course as far as third cases go.
Beyond case 3:
I finished case 4 about an hour ago, and I'm not quite sure what to think. The mason system was pretty cool. The way it worked made it produce thousands of logic errors and plotholes as you went along, but that didn't bother me because I always see things from the designers' point of view. It was weird, though. During the investigations, present!phoenix was even less composed than past!phoenix was during the trial. There's no way his calmness in his 30s is just bravado.
For a 4th case, it lacked...oomph. Before the second part of the trial starts, you already know almost everything, and the breakdown had no sense of accomplishment to accompany it. It was almost sudden. It's amazing, really...the first case...it's better than all of them.
Below are my thoughts on some of the characters that aren't case specific. Spoiler tagg'd just in case. Case specific spoilers in purple.
Apollo: Totally blah, but I understand that he's necessary. I have many nitpicks about him, but it's mainly just his sprites being awkward and him just not having the pull Phoenix does.
Trucy: Awesome. Better than Maya in every way, even. minor case 2 spoiler: Mr. Hat. <3
Ema: Starts off as quite the grumpy whiner, but I like her overall. Better than Gumshoe, I think. Retaining her love for science in full is cute. WARGH DO NOT TOUCH MINE PRECIOUS SNACKOOS. Also, minor case 4 spoiler: Butting in when you're "making a mess of things" was nice. It made me feel like she was more important than Gumshoe, even after all he's done.
Klavier: Pretty cool, with some nice animations. Overall, he's the most friendly prosecutor, which while refreshing, leads me onto some other thoughts I have...or not, since I'd like to get some semblance of sleep tonight.
Since I've cruised on past 2am writing this I'll have to leave my other thoughts for later.
Waaaah **hug HSW** You just made my evening, thank you. <3
~Shadowed Spirit Sage
I Just finished Case 4 and as a whole the game was awesome. It doesn't nearly deserve some of the flack it gets. Awesome in a hell of a lot of ways.
Perhaps my favourite of the series so far.
Currently on Case 3 and... boy am I having to work the old noggin' to keep up with the game. Loving some of the stylus based investigation stuff which comes with the game.
I'm impatiently waiting for Case 4.
D: @ Craig... damn you are just flying through the game!
I did Case 1 last night. As HSW said, easily the best first case of the series. I'm looking forward to the rest of the game, but I don't plan on rushing. My sorta target is about half a case a day from now on, just to pad it out enough for when Beautiful Katamari gets here.
o.o; no I'm not, Hiro. I spent all my free time this weekend playing Fire Emblem (finally finished!) and talking with family. I am just used to the series to the point of which I'm defeating each phase within 45 minutes.
*Investigation 2 of Case 3 begin!*
Edit:
Playing trial 2 now and... it's bugging me:
Case 3 spoilers: Apollo is talking constantly of Lamirior hearing the "switch" quote and then Klavier's guitar bursting on fire.
Why is no one pointing out that SHE WAS ON THE STAGE AT THE TIME. I assume, when I get further, that it'll be revealed as part of the magic teleport trick, but the fact the court is more concerned with the closed window than the fact she was on the stage at that point is infuriating me.
Also, it looks like they're ignoring the fact that the dressing rooms are blasting the stage music in... this is disappointing as it gives alot of credit to the set 2/3 switch, given 2 is accoustic and 3 was RAWK. Silly Phoenix Wright games and their inability to follow logical thoughttrains.
Craig, your queries are answered throughout the rest of that case. Be patient.
Ok. I got to the bits with the solutions to said questions.
I dislike it when my understanding of a case is 3 steps ahead of the characters'... It's just frustrating.
I'm pausing for the night due to Trish being home from work, but I'll probably be on case 4 tomorrow which will decide wether I can love this game forever or not.
So far, loving it, by the by... I just have concerns.
That was a slight problem I had with a few of the cases too, actually- knowing the solutions to the problems in advance but it taking the actual characters longer to figure it out themselves. XD
I suppose it works if directed at a new audience considering this is supposed to be the beginning of a new arc and I guess new series (even if that idea's shot to hell by Japanese numerical titling).
Ok. Concerns are dead. Story kicked in and I'm gobsmacked.
Go, game! This is insanely aweso- ...huh? New background *pokes it*
for the record i am currently on investigation 2 of trial 3. i had planned on going a bit slower but whatever i'm enjoying myself
I completed it just now and I have to say, despite some startling lack of continuity regarding some things, this is my second best Gyakuten, right after the undefeatable T&T.
Good show, Capcom. Now make the next one, quick. AJ took too long given that it was built off of the PW1(DS) engine.
Lack of Profile Present = >:O
Give it some credit for the wait, Craig- The spiffying up of all the graphics and their animations would have taken some time, especially since the majority of the characters were all new.
Besides that, it wasn't so bad since we still needed PW3 to bridge the gap when it was released in Japan. But yeah, I do hope the inevitable next game comes to English speaking regions soon. Or have an English option in the Japanese version again.
Case 3 Trial 2 Latter, btw
