Okay, I've HEARD Konami announce a new sequel for Contra for the DS, and I've HEARD that Wayward (lol who?) was developing it... but I haven't SEEN anything to get me excited about another sequel to a game series with almost as much bad luck in recent years as Sonic, until now.
And. I. Shat. Bricks. Classic Contra gameplay + bits of delicious nolstagia (that's a good thing, rite guyz?) + sum Bionic Commando-esque grappling hook action = GREAT BALLS OF WIN.
TAKE NOTES, SEGA. THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE.
My only reservation (for now) is that they won't be going for the over-the-top action sequences that was Contra: Hard Corps, but then I figure only Treasure could make that happen.
Contra DS = Pure win.
God, I love Konami. nN
It's cool that this is turning out to actually be good. Wayforward is one of the main developers for all those crappy licensed (Barbie, Sabrina,Spongebob, etc.) GBA games.
They started development on Contra 4 with a "lets make the best fan game ever!" and it shows. Hooza for American developers!
