On the official Rock Band website, a representative for developer Harmonix elaborated on the specifics of the package. "The feature-set is a lot closer to the PS2 version of Rock Band which was also developed by Pi Studios," he wrote on the site's message board. "We've decided to focus on getting the core gameplay on to the Wii and focus on making that awesome."

Disappointingly, Rock Band for Wii will support neither online play nor downloadable content -- huge, glaring omissions. One of the game's biggest draws on other consoles is the steady stream of downloadable songs, which can be purchased and then utilized in-game very easily.

Great, so Wii is just getting a PS2 port. Fantastic. 😐

I could live without DLC, but no online just doesn't cut it... hell, even GHIII had online play.

Not only that, but we are getting charged the same price for a game with most of the important features missing.

Now that we're getting a Wii release, how about an Australian release for any danged version of the game?

I could live without DLC

The hell you say. The DLC for Rock Band has been nothing short of &%$#ing amazing. Some of the best songs in the game IMO didn't ship on the disc but came later in the cycle. I mean, this week is 6 Boston songs. &$#^ing BOSTON, and More Than A Feeling is one of them!

Rock Band DLC is definitely no Horse Armor.

lol, I find it hilarious that of all the DLC you mention Boston... not only is it my name, but More Than A Feeling I SWEAR was written about me and my friend who's name is, you guessed it, Mary Ann

I guess what I was saying is I would rather be able to play online with friends then be able to download new songs. That said I like both.

It's obviously being made for people who own a Wii and no other console, and to be honest I don't think people in that category care much about DLC to begin with...y'know...or else they'd own another console.

Without Limelight and Working Man, this game holds no appeal for me anymore.

Tom Sawyer is not enough >:O

I'd rather they announced a European release date and price for the existing versions than information on the Wii version.

Y'know, just saying.

And were you expecting DLC? I don't think GH3 Wii has even got any yet, has it?

lol no, GHIII lacks DLC on the Wii.

Shaftehhhhhhd.

But seriously, didn't HMX listen to all the griping from people who bought the PS2 version and were expecting full functionality? All the people who were saying "where's band world tour, where's the avatar shop?" and everyone else just saying "should have bought 360/PS3, dude"? A whole lot of people wanted a legitimate port for Wii, they're kind of messing this up big time for those fans they could have had.

I'm just saying that if a Wii is the only console you own, shouldn't you be used to this by now? Lack of online support in third party titles? Because if you aren't, and you're shifting the blame to Harmonix, then you really haven't been paying attention to Nintendo's kicking and screaming gradual acceptance of online functionality. Smash Brothers, the most recent first party title, still uses friend codes, for crying out loud.

Like I said, if you haven't gotten frustrated enough with that aspect of the Wii and bought a 360 as well (like I did last February), then I don't see why this version of Rock Band would be a problem for you. Like their last two systems, it's still just the console for nifty Nintendo first person titles. Nothing else.

Actually, I understand where you're coming from, Srol--because really, with only a couple exceptions, the only Wii titles worth owning are first-party Nintendo ones.

I guess I have even more reason to get a 360 to go with my Wii.
