The pigs are indeed flying in the sky! Sega will re-enter the market (not some dodgy knock off all in one machine) but a fully fledged system!

That right.... The Mega Drive is back! re-enter
And is available to preorder from play.com all for less than £38 (lol will wait for price drops).

Sega Mega Drive two player console is the ultimate home retro games console, bringing back the glory days of the Sega Mega Drive!

This stylish 2-player console features 15 Sega-licenced games built-in, including Sonic And Knuckles, Alex Kidd, Golden Axe and many more! As well as these built in games, you can use original Mega Drive and Genesis cartridges from all regions!

Easy to set up straight out of the box, the Sega Mega Drive Twin Player Console really is the perfect home retro console.

Sega once again cashing in on those with soft spots for nostalgia. Still looks good, but I'll just stick to my original Mega Drive though (dusty as it might be from years of not being used).

If those controllers come with it, then that's a good Super Street Fighter set up with a bunch of free games.

Go Sega. I guess?

Will it use existing Genesis carts and controllers, such as the Arcade Power Stick, or did they change to controller ports to something "proprietary"...?

Ha! Sweet! Go Sega!! I wonder if they'll come out with some more of those sweet ads from the 90s. 😛 And I agree Craig...some really good SF playing right there.

If Sega are going to support this further then what they should do is make some new Mega Drive/Genesis games! Lower budget and hopefully cheaper game costs could be a nice alternative in this current economic climate. (Okay okay, I just want Sonic 4. So sue me =( )

As much as I'd love new Mega Drive/Genesis games, I honestly can't see it ever happening.

This is actually quite cool. First good thing Sega have done since...well, a long time.

I'm still waiting on Sega to start rehashing the Saturn.

I know, I know, the vast public image is "it sucks", but this'd be a great time to perhaps buck that trend. Most people are aware of a few obvious greats for the console (coughNiGHTScough), and perhaps bundling it with the thing would be awesome. I mean, certainly there's some way to get built-in games on a Saturn as well...?

They re-release a Saturn, I 'm getting my original Saturn gold plated >>

I have my Genesis still in the box, and if it came with that control scheme, o hell yes that's some great Primal Rage setup right there <3.<3! Or Seperation Anxiety. Yeah I went there. Not Carnage. Seperation.

"Here's come the Spider-Man!" Still not sure what drove Sega to do this though. I'm going to sit back and see how this comes out.

Wait, was you even here when Pat left? I thought he left long before you came here, but I until Sega releases a new next-gen console Pat was wrong.

Yeah, there's a difference between releasing a new console, and cashing in on/re-releasing an old one with a new version that has the same features and offers little if nothing new to add to the experience!

Wait...**rereads description, slowly this time**

As well as these built in games, you can use original Mega Drive and Genesis cartridges from all regions!

Okay, I totally take that back. Do want.

But what about this?

Anyways, the blurb about built-in games made me think of those Hong Kong "100+ games" knock-offs that use crappy emulation. But it also mentions the games are officially licensed by Sega. Hm...

Maybe if they said euroland i could've understood, since we never did get the nomad on this side of the pond... however (but technically that was the genesis nomad, not the mega drive nomad!)

I'm amusing myself with the thought that the "Low Battery" sign is over the power LED. Because a thing like that will be low battery from the on switch.

XD! It was all apart of Sega and Energizer's deal.

Energizer: Hey SEGA...we need people to buy a ton of batteries...
SEGA: Ok...we'll super confuse our loyals by placing the Power LED under the Low Battery sign.
Energizer and SEGA together: This way they'll always think their battery is low! MUHAHAHA!

*Energizer and SEGA now go around giving each other jumping high fives*

I've only got the gist of it. Supposed to be some kind of server-side gaming service. Game's (in theory) are supposedly rendered in real time on advanced graphical workstations and the results are sent to your computer to be played.

That may be an oversimplication... I don't have time to go into it right now.

...

Wait, are you suggesting Sega has a part in this? I don't remember hearing about their involvement.

My Nomad has a rechargeable battery pack. Found a replacement that's Li-Ion, instead of Ni-Cd.

Oh but of course they do. It's all apart of their rise back to the top! SEGA will take over again!!! *does a Jim Gillette rock sceam*

**rips skin off and ends up being Pat L**
