Sega signs ex-Clover devs

Platinum Games working for Sega, three titles revealed inside

Sega will release four games as part of a partnership with Japanese developer Platinum Games, founded by Resi creator Shinji Mikami and other ex-Clover big wigs.

One game for PS3 and 360, titled Bayonetta, stars a girl lead character with guns strapped to her feet, and is being directed by the Devil May Cry creator, Hideki Kamiya.

A short trailer (which we'll attach to this report shortly) shown at Sega's unveiling event in London lacked any gameplay footage, but it did show the female lead flip out and fire bullets into the faces of her foes. It was all very DMC-like, funnily enough.

The second title shown was a sci-fi action RPG for DS called Infinite Line. You play a captain of a customisable space ship, travelling between two galaxies as you uncover what is promised to be a deep plot.

With over 200 performance-effecting ship designs, modding your craft is a big part of the quest, as you explore what developer Nudemaker (behave) says will be the most vast world on DS.

Sega also showed off Wii-exclusive title, MadWorld - a gruesome black and white action game featuring a guy with a chainsaw for an arm.

Think Killer 7 with a sense of humour thrown in. The game has you using Wii Remote motions to stab street signs through enemies' faces (and they stumble around comically), impale them on spiked walls and slice their heads off with bin lids. YEAH!

Sega chose to keep the fourth title under wraps for now, only revealing that it was being directed by none other than Resident Evil creator, Shinji Mikami (so maybe it's a horror game?).

"The creative forces at PlatinumGames bring a new level of imagination into the Sega family at a pivotal time in the video game industry when the demand for quality, originality and fun has never been greater," said Tatsuya Minami, President and CEO, PlatinumGames. "These new titles will contribute meaningfully to Sega's brand, while adding a new level of depth to the strategic portfolio of games in our library."

Pretty sweet to see them get picked up by Sega.

Interesting. Sega really doesn't seem to be a big player anymore, but these seem cool.

Awesome avatar, by the way.

MadWorld trailer.- remind me of No More Heroes.

Bayonetta trailer - looks pretty cool. It has that Devil May Cry vibe to it.

These titles don't really interest me much beside Madworld (yeah, does remind me of NMH) but nice to see the company get picked up. Sucked to see them get dropped by Capcom. But glad to see that we will be seeing more titles that should be very creative.

Wow...that forum searching utility is quite nifty. Anywho...i've fallen in lvoe with Bayonetta. Both the game and the lead. Seriously though...i've watched videos and read up on it. Sounds really interesting. I've not jumped on a bandwagon of any of these over the top[M-rated] beat 'em ups like God of War, DMC, etc so I think this will be my venture into that field. NMH actually would kinda fall into that category so yays! NMH has a sibling now.

Who wouldn't wanna get naughty with a woman who can change her clothing with just her mind? Let alone turn her hair into A FREAKING DRAGON!!!

I seriously cannot wait for this game either.

EDIT: Oops, I think we may have sinned for posting on an old topic HS. Eh, maybe not. *is currently half-unconscious*

Yea...like when she summons demons/beasts/monsters/etc they come out of her hair which creates like a portal. In some videos you can see that she is like...bearing it all.

....Nearly. I wouldn't want her to go completely naked though. I'd like her to have some dignity. XD!

Well, she certainly doesn't act like she cares about dignity. At least not in the trailers. XD

My friend, In G.I.G.G.I.T.Y. we trust.

Hmm, I should use that as A SIG! OR A TITLE! OF COURSE! Why didn't I think of that before?

*sets out to make sig or title of that and afterwords make life-size Bayonetta plushie to do naughty things with*

EDIT: Hopefully, this phrase is not being used in anyone else's sig on these boards. So Giggity.
