Am I the only one and probably Psx to have heard of this game? I was browsing through the Gaming Academy only to find there was no topic on this gem of a game.

Basically, it's a hybrid of a action/puzzle/platformer from the same team who created ICO. Your character has to defeat different kinds of colossi various sizes in order to revive your dead lover. Each colossi have a set of strengths and weakness and it is your job to find their weakness wheather it is part of the enviroment or their body type and take advantage of it. The colossi also works as the platformers in which you climb and find the special weakspots which are located around the beasts' bodies. When you encounter the truly huge and heavy colossi you stumble in your running pace and take a hit if you are not too careful. I really like the idea of the colossi being the platform and it gives the player a sense of danger of trying to hang on for dear life while climbing the giant, balaning your stamina, and ultimately finding the creature's weakspots.

The art direction in the game is excellent. You feel that you are alone with your stead in a mystical, natural land that heavily uses natural colors(as it was in ICO) instead of being of too bright with unnatural florecence or too dark and murkry. The animation is really great--it all feels so natural--running, walking, jumping grabing walls, riding the horse, even tripping and falling(for both you and your steed). The music...wow, very enchanting and it fits the mood of the situation you are in whether you encounter a new, strange place, encounter a colossus, or when you are actually battling them.

I highly recommend playing this game assuming you have or are planning on getting a PS2. It really feels like a contender for "Game of the Year".

Oh, I've heard of it. I really want it, too. That said, it doesn't come out in Europe until at least February. I would also really like to get ICO, but nowhere has it these days.

Heard of it, but I'm not playing it until I have, you know, a PS2 to play it on. That'd be convenient. Kinda just... sits there otherwise. Not very fun at all.

I've heard of it. I'm getting it as soon as it gets over here.

Apparently Sony are re-releasing ICO in Feb for Europe.

I'm guessing the reason Europe is getting the game so late compared to the Japan and N. American releases is probably because they are planning on cramming extra stuff in the game like they did in the PAL release of ICO. I could be wrong though.

I haven't even played Ico yet.

I hocked away my pristine "l33t" gaming credentials, the part of me that yearns to play inventive new titles for the nolstagia factor of ports, remakes and sequels.

It's true. The older one gets, the less inclined to dabble in something unfamiliar. But those pics you've been spreading 'round the forum lately seem to have ignited a familiar yearning...

... for hot sexual pudding. Welcome back, btw.

I've been looking forward to this game for quite a while, both because it reminds me of Zelda in a few respects but also because it looks so different too, plus loads of fun. Though I haven't played it, all impressions from what I've seen ^^;;.

Still, the one thing that looks off putting to me is how deserted every where seems to be, and it sounds like the only battles are with the collosi. Even so it looks beautiful, one of those games that makes me question the timing of the next gen, though I won't start that arguement here :P.

I've been interested in this game ever since the first screenshots came out, but there's just one problem. When my brother moved, he also took the PS2 with him.

So, I'll have to either wait until I have $150 to spare and get a new PS2, or wait a while longer for when PS3 comes out (which by then, money shouldn't be as much of a problem for me thanks to a good paying summer job that's already set up for me) in order to play it. =/

Not for me. If anything, I'm more interested in the unfamilar because I'm a bit tired of the same old same old franchises. I mean, I still interested in say Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and the upcoming GCN Kirby, but they are nothing compared to my level of excitement of the upcoming Okami--that's hott! I mean if I only stuck to familar franchises that I've played when I was younger then I would have never branched out and discover Katamari Damacy,Taiko Drum Master, and this game.

Maybe, Green Gibbon, GAF, and IC are all rubbing off on me.

And thanks for the...greeting. ^_^;

My eyes starting watering when I saw the size of the first colossus!
:cmon That is screaming at me to challenge it! I feel I must kill it. Even with a sword that is the size of a toothpick to the thing. lol This game looks really good. Saw some screenshots of it in a game magazine but thought nothing of it because there was a whole lot of nothing special about them so I didn't feel the need to be interested. But these pics,if you haven't already noticed, have sparked my interest.
Looks like fun!

My friend Jeff has it. He told me all about it. There's, like, 15-16 Collosi, and each one is it's own level. If you think the first one is big, you should see the last one.

Spoilers (Select To Read): He beat it too. When you beat a Collosus, it's respective statue breaks in the huge Temple, where these black riders are watching the after the girl you're trying to save. After you beat every last one, the evil god, who was, like, trying to get you to destroy the Collosi in the beginning (omg WarioWorld3 likeness) possesses you or something, and you become a Collosus for a while. Those Black Riders rush to destroy you (you can try and stop them, but it's no good) and you die or something, and the Riders ride across the hude bridge from the beginning as it collapses behind them. And then the girl wakes up. But she's kinda screwed cuz she's stuck on the island which is now forever secluded cuz the bridge asploded. And stuff.
And that's what I remember him telling me about it.

I'm still waiting for the UK release of this one, actually.
(Resumes waiting for 2 months)

But yeah. Got ICO, huge fan of it. Obviously.

I love that game. I just beat it on normal mode and now I'm half way through on Hard mode. Hard mode is only unlocked after you beat the game.:)
