What's better than having a movie based on a videogame? Having it pay tribute to one by using the game intricately within the narrative.

Reign Over Me must be one of the first Hollywood films, if not the first, to deal with games thematically and intelligently. While other industry pundits try to figure out how to take the latest blockbuster game and turn it into a movie or vice versa, Reign Over Me already has an insightful leg up: Let the games speak for themselves. Characters bond through games and lose themselves in them, only to find themselves again. They enjoy the simple act of play. "We're starting to get people in Hollywood who have perspective of what the video game experience is like," says Roush, "what it can feel like. And all that gets integrated into Reign Over Me."
This almost makes up for Uwe Boll.
Almost.
Awesome, this is my favorite game. I'm so seeing this.
Most blatant product placement since I, Robot.
Hey, if it gets just one more non-gamer to look at video games in a whole new light then IT'S AWWWWWWRIIIIIGHT.
And here I was expecting something like another of Sandlers movies.
"Hey, I didn't know Halo 2 was out."
I figured it was going to be a throw away quote like that, but it's good that they are at least trying to tie this in to the story and the character, blatant product placement or not.
