Ketchup.
For those too lazy:
One of the most cinematic games is now making it way towards cinemas. The Shadow of the Colossus video game is being developed by producer Kevin Misher (Fighting, Public Enemies, Case 39) at Columbia Pictures. Hollywood's new favorite fanboy writer, Justin Marks of Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li, Voltron, and Masters of the Universe, has been hired to write the screenplay. The game, which first hit shelves in 2005, follows a character known as Wander, who along with his horse Agro, travels across a western-style landscape to defeat enemies known as Collosi, while Wander tries to save the girl Mono.
This isn't the first time the game has been seen in the movies - it was featured in Reign Over Me, although those scenes just had Adam Sandler playing the game. Shadow of the Colossus was not only a big hit in sales, but also a big hit with critics, and a few years ago was widely heralded as one of the best games of the year. Sony is currently developing on a sequel to the game. Although I know its got the makings of a good movie, I'm concerned that Justin Marks will come up with something a little too cheesy, a little too Hollywood. Hopefully they find a director who will make sure this stays as true to the game as possible.
Isn't one of the problems with doing a Shadow of the Colossus film is the fact the game is basically: Man, horse, dead girl, backwards speaking voice from the sky and 16 giants that said man is to kill.
Other than that: its flawless.
I bet the horse can speak in a camp manner.
Why'd you have to go and remind me of this? Reading this today actually put me in an incredibly foul mood, which isn't a good thing when your job is customer service.

So you were who I talked to on the phone? 😛 But my gosh...is a movie like this even possible. I suppose with technology now...yes...but the execution as of late...no. I'll wait and see, though. Thanks for this news JT.
Gaw.... at least we'll always have the game.
Why God, why?! Actually... this could work. I think that if they made it like this. The 16 fights are spread out through out the movie. In between are flash back leading up to Mono's death. After the death scene, we see the whole ending sequence. It could work, and we get a little extra back story for going to see the moive.
Its not gonna be that awesome.
This could be a hit or an utter unbelievable miss....
Somebody... please.. execute these people with Ebola before they make one of the biggest mistakes in cinema history (except for Mario's colossal boo-boo obviously). Like everyone else here said, all the game is is riding around a horse for a good period of time and jumping on top of giants and stabbing them. Sure, it was an amazing experience, but still...
Some types of games were just never meant to be movies. Which usually means most of them.
