...is the best game you've never heard of. Or, if you have heard of it but haven't acquired it, go do so. Right now.

Okay, maybe it's not the best game ever, but it's a surprisingly solid title, with a refreshing change from most other games out there: That change being that it does exactly what it says it does. It's exactly what it says it is. I have yet to find an example of an advertised feature that hasn't been implemented and implemented well, from the very smooth epic-scale zoom to the RT4X genre definition.

Though the games' intricacies and features are somewhat complex-looking, I found it all to be pretty intuitive and by the end of my first game I'm faring reasonably well. It's really simple, and depending on your settings, the computer will handle a lot of the micromanaging for you - in an actually intelligent manner, which surprised the hell out of me. I usually hate auto-manage features because they tend to do dumber things than I'd do myself, but the computer does all the sorts of things I'd do, more or less, but more efficiently, leaving me to gloat and watch my shiny, very good-looking fleets in action as they preform mass orbital bombardments.

Another feature I like? Every single unit is important. While you CAN spam one kind of unit, there's actually a very noticable advantage if you stop and think about what kind of ships you want to populate your fleet with, depending on your strategy and goals. You'll find yourself using top-tier heavy cruisers and capital ships right alongside the light frigates you've used since the beginning of the game, which I find quite nice.

Have any of y'all played this game? Know someone who does? I'd reccomend it to any of you that like space-based RTS, 4X games, or space combat in general.

Me, I've always been into the the more action oriented side of space combat.
