...which ones would you download?
For the record, legitimate consoles would be:
So, here is an example of what I'm on about. MY list, that is.
- Super Mario RPG. I've always liked this game since I tried it on ZSNES for the heckuvit, and I kind of attribute it to making me like some of the RPGs I actually like now (like Skies of Arcadia or Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, for example); now I could legitimately own the title and that'd be that. Win.
- Gunstar Heroes. Since the Genesis library is going to consist of AAA titles, this is a no-brainer, and I'd pounce on the opportunity to download the thing. Anyone who doesn't know what Gunstar is or what it's about deserves twenty lashes and a walk off the plank, or at least a mandatory download of this when the Wii rolls around. It's that good.
- Super Metroid. Never finished it, but I already know it's one of my favorites in the series. Legally owning it would rock.
- Mike Tyson's Punchout!!. If only to play further than Glass Joe, and because I can't be bothered to find NES games nowadays...
- Dracula X: Chi no Rondo... if it even is put on there. Konami'd be insane not to capitalize on this opportunity, though...[/list:o:56e11f4a7b]
(I'll give you a hint, though: )
Assuming that you could delete old titles to download new ones...here's my first list.
1) Mike Tyson's Punchout!!
2) Chrono Trigger
3) Gunstar Heroes (Never played it before.)
4) Kirby's Adventure (The original NES game rocked so hard.)
5) Street Fighter II Turbo
1) Earthbound (SNES) - The ultimate RPG.
2) Kirby's Superstar (SNES) - Great party game, before party games existed.
3) Chrono Triger (SNES) - RPG = goodness
4) Super Mario Bros (NES) - Of course
5) Some N64 game... (I need more time to think...)
Hmmm well let's see:
1) Gunstar Heroes(never played it either).
2) SoR III(i think thats the one I played until my Genesis exploded)
3. Super Mario RPG Heck yea never beat it, but loved it.
4. Ok it's not one game but still. The whole Zelda series(I've never gotten into a Zelda game)
5. Once again not just one game, but a series. The Metroid series up to Prime. lol
Aw, don't make me choooooose... please, don't make me-- OKAY YOU'VE TWISTED MY ARM:
1. Phantasy Star: End of the Millenium (G)
2. Crystalis (NES)
3. Super Punch Out!! (SNES)
4. Kirby Super Star (SNES)
5. Mischief Makers (N64)
All games that have yet to be remade/repackaged/sold, and still get lots of playtime. Well, 'cept for Crystalis... but COME ON. The GBC "remake" was dreck.
1. Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryu To Hikari no Tsurugi (NES)
2. Fire Emblem Gaiden (NES)
3. Fire Emblem: Monshou no Nazo (SNES)
4. Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu (SNES)
5. Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 (SNES)
...because I'm a fan of the Fire Emblem series. Legally owning these (instead of playing them on emulators) would be extremely great (assuming they translate them).
But assuming that they don't translate them for the VC and/or I decide not to get them because I already have them emulated...
1. Super Mario RPG (SNES) SH pretty much summed it up.
2. Super Mario All-Stars+World (SNES) There, all of my original Mario needs in one little package.
3. Super Smash Bros (N64) Just out of curiosity of what the original was like...
4. Punchout!! (NES) I really doubt they'll release the original Mike Tyson version ever again (thus, the lack of me putting Mike Tyson in the title), but meh. It'll do.
5. Duck Hunt (NES) Yeah, yeah. I know the Wii is getting a new version for their system, but I want to play the original version with the Wiimote, dammit!
1. Super Mario RPG!(SNES)
- I've only ever played it via emulators with a keyboard or crappy pad, so it'd be great to play the full screen version with a decent pad. It's also regarded as one of the greatest RPGs ever, so I'd love to play it the way it's meant to be. ^_^
2. Phantasy Star 4! (MD)
- See above, though I haven't played at all, emulation or not.
3. Earthbound! (SNES)
- See above
4. Crono Trigger! (SNES)
- See above, though I have played via emulation....
5. Sin & Punishment! (N64)
- It's a game I've always wanted to play on the N64 that never made it to Europian shores, and importing back then seemed to expensive and tricky for me, with the Virtual Console, hopefully I'll be able to play it at last. ^_^
In no particular order...
1 - Super Mario 64 (N64) : For one of the supposed most revolutionary games of all time... I've still never played it. =P
2 - Streets Of Rage II (Genesis) : The better question is not why, but why not?
3 - Gunstar Heroes (Genesis) : Multiplayer madness for the ultimate win!
4 - Donkey Kong Country II : My favourite from the series.
Position 5 is up for grabs by a few games. Kirbys Dream Course, Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Starfox or one of the old Metal Gears are possible candidates.
If Rare wasn't being stingy (and owned by Microsoft), and would let their games be downloaded (Donkey Kong excluded, as it's based on Nintendo owned characters) then Killer Instinct would overide all.
Hmm. Tough choice...
1. Lylat Wars (N64) because I never played it, and I've always wanted to.
2. Paper Mario (N64) never got around to buying it, and it looks good fun.
3. Majora's Mask (N64) Yet again, I never got around to buying it.
4. Super Mario RPG (SNES) - I want to see what all the fuss is about...
5. Streets of Rage 2 (Mega Drive) - Because it's streets of rage, what other reasons could there possibly be?
1) Sonic 1
2) Sonic 2
3) Sonic 3
4) Sonic and Knuckles
5) Sonic Spinball
Kidding.
Tis a hard one becuase I'm not sure what Nes/Snes games I would want. Darn Sega Zealotism!
1) Super Metroid. Always have had a soft spot for Metroid.
2) Streets of Rage 2. LOVE THIS GAME.
3) Mario 64. Never played it.
4) The Mario game that was re-released as Mario Advance 2. Name plz. I'm bitter because when I got my GBA I spurred a revolution. 5 people got a GBA soon after me. I got Sonic Advance, Tekken Advance and Mario Kart: SC. They all got Mario Advance 2.
5) Dont know. Open to suggestions.

Super Mario World. If you can find the version of All-Stars with it in it, get that instead. Otherwise, yeah, good game.

Gunstar Heroes? 😛
Ahhhh. Thats the one.
*Walks off plank* can you describe Gunstar Heroes. What sort of game is it?
Like Contra, only somewhat easier (no one-hit kills), much more intense, and with a gargantuan variety of guns, all made from combining two guns of four different types. Two-player's supposed to be a blast, but I do pretty good at one-player.
And trust me, this one's really fun, partly because it doesn't get very hard until MUCH later on.
I can't decide, but it would definitly be a set of FX SNES and N64 titles, as I perfer playing NES, Genesis, and non-FX SNES games on my GP32.
Oh lord, looking through all these other posts, i've decided this VC thing is gonna be Nintendo's biggest money maker. Like really, it costs nothing to run it for them does it? Well i'm sure it does but it's gotta be cheaper than actually making a disc/cartridge of thse games. So the profit is gonna be HUGE. Not to mention I have like 20 new games I have seen posted by others...I. Must. Obtain.
As others mentioned, Chrono Trigger, SMRPG, Gunstar Heroes and Paper Mario all sound good...
For a fifth, I'd have to opt for... Dynamite Headdy.
-Chrono Trigger
-Final Fantasy III (VI, whatever)
-Mother 1 (Never played it before)
-Mother 2 (Earthbouououound)
-Dragon Quest Monsters III (Never released in America and I have no idea of how good it is but the other two were fairly godly poke-clones, so it stands to reason it'd be great as well)
Kirby Super Star
Donkey Kong Country 2
Super Mario RPG
Super Mario Kart
Super Mario Bros 3
Edit: Do know Nintendo will be breaking our b*lls if this were to happen.
1. Paper Mario- I absolutely love TTYD so I figured I would also love the original.
2. Mario RPG- All Mario RPGs I've played (TTYD and Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga) have been immense fun so the original Mario RPG should be great fun
I can't really think of anymore confirmed games I want. Depending on third party agreements, I would like to download Darkwing Duck, the TMNT games I never beat when I was little, the Swat Kats, and if Sega has 32X games for download, I would want Knuckles Chaotix above all else.
Yea speaking of the 32X, does anyone think te Saturn will be added to the list of VC games? I pray to the very 'gaming god' himself that SS is somehow included later on.
I wouldn't say no to Sega Saturn being on the VC. I could imagine that a few Ninty fans would want to play the Saturn's answer to Mario 64.
Also isn't Knuckles Chaotix on that Game download Rent webstie? Game tap?
If Saturn games are included, I'd like to try out Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Seconded.
And Radiant Silvergun.

And NiGHTS. 😛
If there were any other consoles added, I'd love to see the Neo Geo included, but I really doubt that'd ever happen. ._.
Oh geez I fourth, third and second the above statements. =P I saw Radiant Silvergun on TV and it looked great. I'd also have to get Virtual On Operation Moongate and Street Fighter vs. X-Men.
1:Perfect Dark (want to see if it was as good as Goldeneye)
2:007: the World is Not Enough (just a bond nut)
3:Gunstar Heroes (never have played it)
4:Mega Man 2 (I just love the old NES Mega Man games)
5: (if 32X games are included)Knuckles Chaotix
5: (if 32X games aren't iincluded)Super Metroid
**commits seppuku for forgetting to include StarFox 64 on his list**

Hmmm...
Well, of course, Nights. I'd simply put Silvergun as a higher priority...
The thing about Silvergun that always gets me is that there's really no happy ending. Spoilers: Humanity is wiped from the planet's surface in the opening. So, you go time-travelling to put an end to what started this whole incident... You put in all that effort, and at the end, humanity's stuck in a time loop that ensures both its creation (the robot of your gang barely survives, long enough to clone two of the characters, thus making humanity) and destruction (the intro). Talk about "bleh". The game itself looks awesome, though, and I don't think Arcade Mode has that unforunate event chronicled... I think.
But anyway, no chance the Saturn'll be on there. Thing's so complex, it's taken us over 10 years to get working emulators - and even then, you need, like, a dual-core processor to run it at full speed. (Come to think of it, I should try that out now that I have one...)
Oh come on SH, don't say that. It's possible. *whines*

It's also possible that Nintendo will release the unfinished Earthbound 64...
Ok trying to be funny now I see. Just so you know, that new Duke Nukem will be coming out for all next gen consoles next year. *is completely lying* >_>

Are you telling me you're concerned about the storyline?
Given that, in Saturn Mode, there isn't any way to skip it (that I know of)... yes. Yes I am.

I didn't put SFX64 on my list because I already have that for my N64, so I don't need it to download it onto my Wii.
PSX was talking about himself skywolf.
John, since when could video game systems speak? >_>
Duck Hunt.
Sonic 3 & Knux (If Available)
Anything else I'll ROM. #^^#
My Xbox talks to me. HE FEELS MY PAIN.
SX that is teh naughty...Nice.

My Dreamcast doesn't know when to shut up. Always with the "buzz-buzz-buzz", that one.
I think it's trying to psyche me out or something.
Hhahah yea my Dreamcast does that too. Not to mention my PS2's clicking noise when playing Tekken Tag.
It's a real hard worker, and has really survived beyond the odds. Oo
Poor thing.
My 5 choices:
1: Mario 1 {Nes} - I WANT the original and unremastered 2D masterpiece...on my TV 😛
2: Mario 2 {Nes} - the Westernised, Nothing-like-1 vegetable Picky-Uppy love fest. Peach is shweeet. XD
3: Paper Mario 1 {N64} - ANYONE who has TTYD will understand the brilliance, and thus I assume this to be just as crazygood.
4: Mario Party {N64} - Just for those wild multiplayer moments.
5: Snake Rattle and Roll {Nes} - ANYONE who's played and loved this masterpiece will know, and understand...:3
And that is my list - All hail the king.
5: Snake Rattle and Roll {Nes} - ANYONE who's played and loved this masterpiece will know, and understand...:3
Hells yeah. Just one question, though: Is it supposed to be possible to beat the end guy? I keep getting squished to death. xX

That's what I thought; I hope it doesn't dissappoint, I know TTYD didn't.
I actually have the origional. Trust me, it won't.
So, my list, assuming every game from all those consoles will be available, ignoring legal obstacles to their inclusion...
Perfect Dark
Quote:
1:Perfect Dark (want to see if it was as good as Goldeneye)
It's not; close, though. However, that would be one of the titles I'd download, if the slowdown issues with the N64 original were sorted out. GoldenEye mainly doesn't suffer from such problems, so I'm not including it in this five-game list.
Super Mario World
I.
Have.
Never.
Played.
It.
pleasedon'tkillmepleasedon'tkillme
The same goes for the next two on the list: titles I've long wanted to try, but never have:
Rocket Knight Adventures
Super Metroid
And then... arrggh, oh God, I've drawn a blank. Should it be one I've played before, like...
Ninja Gaiden (Master System version; different from the NES one and utterly superb).
The Story of Thor (Mega Drive)/Beyond Oasis (Genesis)
Or should it be something I've always wanted to play, like
Streets of Rage 3.
No!
Donkey Kong Country.
No!
Gunstar Heroes. (I recently saw a copy of that in GameStation Birmingham, in a compilation with one or two other games, for 15. Perhaps foolishly I didn't get it.)
Awww, I don't know. I'll let you lot decide for me.
Personally I really liked SoR3m but i'd go with Gunstar Heroes(never played it but is apparently really good) or possibly the Ninja Gaiden for Master System. I didn't know there was one for the Master System and it's different from the NES one. Sweet. Not sure if you've ever played Strider but i'll probably get that, if it's available. =)
Only go for SoR3 if it's the Japanese version (somehow). The Western releases are apparently much, much harder. Plus they don't have a playable transvestite (well, without hacking and/or a Game Genie). It's all about the playable transvestites.
