Okay, not a big fan of Virtual On, but I know this will make some mech-heads ecstatic at the prospect of challenging other mech-heads on Live.
I came into this topic expecting to hear that Star Wars characters were finding their way into another fighting game series.
I am releived on so many levels.
I have to admit I thought it was a Bamco developed Star Wars fighting game. JARJARBINKS DLC!
This is cool though.
Never played Virtual On, but it has always been on my list to try. Definately going to downloading the demo to try it out.
AHHHH! Wait! What the hell!? Are you for real? This junk better come to PSN damn it!
I was wonderign when you were gonna pop in here HSW, LOL.
Virtual On was awesome though, I loved the Pink Robot cause she had some sick attacks.
I only had the demo of the game that came on the Saturn Preview disk, lol. How sad is that, lol.

But yea the pink robot...Fei-Yen Knight. She was even sicker on the sequel, bro. The first one I played as, actually. But you only had the demo? Sad day, sad day. That game is wonderful. If you still have your SS and it works, you can find OMG on Ebay for like 10 or less, i'm sure. But if you have a 360 get this schick[assuming it comes here]. Oh my gosh! VOOT 5.66!! Even better than 5.45 that came here to America. And thanks for that JT.
Edit: I hate you JT. Upon watching that trailer you made me ruin my favorite pair of...well clothes. But my goodness! I'm beyond joyous right now. Sure there's an extremely slim chance of it going outside of Japan and even if it does, it won't come to PSN, pretty sure of that...this is wonderful news for VO. Long live Virtual On!! And Abac Child...and anyone else who's never played this game...you're going to have to sit down with it...and literally study it. It took me about a year to get comfortable with the controls[not even joking] but oh gosh...I can't be touched now. Well worth the investment. Crazy zany mech combat...don't we all love that?
*explodes into a confetti fireball*
Yeap, I'm one of the 25 in the US that still have a working SS n_n I should search for it...

Hahahah same here, same here. 😛
Didn't someone on Kotaku post an image of the MVC2 achievements ages and ages ago?
Why is XBLA so very awesome?
If it is true, Vampire Saviors will be my first acheivement, I swear it!
XBLA is looking to be the better than the Virtual Console for retro games at this rate! 😮
Well...maybe not what with Super Mario RPG, Sin and Punishment, and others...but damn! MVC2 would kick ass! And with Outrun out today...maybe we'll finally get the arcade experience we were promised.
Hhahhaa a 200 hit combo. Ummm...XD! Anywho...yea this game has been talked about coming to XBLA[and PSN damnit! I swear if it doesn't come PSN...people will honestly die. I'm so serious right now *cocks gun*] for quite some time. I'm thinking...most game-'arific' summer, ever maybe?
Looks like a July release. This is so going to be announced at E3 if not sooner.
Hahahaha! Sweetness! Those are some pricey pads I can say that much. Licensing issues, I guess? Got a SFIV one...just might pick up one of these too. XD! I'm such a fanboy! D'oh!
Well, the wait for the announcement anyway.
EDIT: Oh goody, this one loads for me.
DOUBLE EDIT: Capcom Blog
Sweet. And it the Dreamcast version which is better version of the console releases.
Yea...this summer...is too great. Many people will quit their day jobs...quit school...basically quit life to fully take advantage of the supreme greatness and sheer bliss this sunny season has to over. Insanity...straight up.
So yeah, Virtual On OT is out.
I need to get some more microsoft money. Played it though. Somehow I got to the 3 level of arcade.
Hell yes! Awesome job JT. How'd you like it? Have you ever played it before? If not..was it fairly easy to catch on to? I'm really hoping this game will cater to newcomers and might spark a rise in demand for a new VO.
I played Virtual On on the Saturn, but hell if I remembered the controls were for that bad boy. Sega screwed up by not allowing the tutorial mode for the demo. I didn't find it that easy to get into. what I did mostly was run up to the opponent and punch them.
Graphics seemed a bit eh, as well. I mean if I payed £40 plus whatever the twinstick arcade stick was, if it was released in the UK, I would expect the graphics to have a bit more detail on them. But seeing the robot's rocked thrust out of a Dreamcast made me smile.
They are doing some new VO toys (Sorry, Models. :P) so it wouldn't surprise me if they were going to do a new one. Needs to look sexier though. And aren't Sega releasing a new giant robot game in the arcades anyway? (Edit: Yes, yes they are: Border Break)

Ahh you were an OMG guy, eh? You didn't like the graphics? Really? I mean it's 9 years old...I think if you look at games that came out around the same time it did, it would hold its own pretty well. Then again i'm such a HUGE fan of the series i've grown to love the graphics. As for the new models yea they are doing some new ones. And they've got a survey up on their site about the VO series. If demand is high enough, I think they may bring it back. I love the VRs design though. To me they're sexy enough already. Cypher alone handles all the sexiness the game needs. 😛 But yea Border Break I remember eharing about that. Isn't very much like VO at all, though. Sorry the controls are weird for you. Did I fail to mention it took me a year on my Dreamcast before I understood what was what on VOOT 5.45?
P.S. Temjin 10/80 has a Saturn on his back. Thought you might like that. 😛 Not sure about Alpha Raiden and Alpha Temjin though.
Yeah the robot designs are sexy.
I dont know what it is about the graphics, I remember reading a preview of the Arcade version of the game in the UK Sega Saturn mag thinking, looking at the shots thinking wow! but playing the XBLA they almost seemed cel-shaded, without the shading.
The demo only has Temjin and Raiden playable.
Will be getting this, if only to encourage more Dreamcast goodness.

Heh...cel-shaded w/o the shading. Yea...I can see that. This is the sequel to the one from Saturn and i'm guessing they might've changed the color effects and stuff around some on VOOT. But only those two no the demo, huh? That figures. I'm telling you though...Cypher[successor to Viper II from OMG] and [from what I hear] Aphramd C are awesome in this game. Glad you're really considering getting it though. The game's super deep if you really factor in the various attacks/techniques that can performed with different turbo/crouching/dashing/aerial combinations. I could probably pick up my DC 5.45 version of the game this evening and discover something new. Not to mention the Close Combat is quite awesome.
