REnted SFIV (Still trying to save up to buy the collectore ed.) I love this game..One thing i don't like though...THey mad Chun-li unnattractive by Giving her man-legs!!! She doesn't have man legs in the cut scenes she Didn't have man legs in the mangas' or anime or the past games, sure here legs have always had muscle..But in SFIV its just going to far!

Hahaha! Whatever...i'd love for her to Spinning Bird Kick the hell out of me. Maybe even a little Hyakuretsukyaku too...if there're time. xD! But her hands are a different story. Frickin' Shaq hands. 😛 Still sexy though. *wishes she were real* LOL

Me too..Only I prefere the more Petite SFA ver. of chun-li to the new SFIV one. But back on topic, I love this game but I suck I can't get past round 3 on any difficulty, any one know how to use the characters specials. I can't figure out how! Im playing the 360 ver. by the way.

Specials? As in Supers and Ultras? It depends on who you're playing as...if they're a charge character, like Chun for instance, her Hosenka Ultra...has the exact same D-pad motions as her Super[can't recall the name right now]. Hold back for 2 seconds...then go forward, and then back and forward[very quickly...but be sure you go all the way back and forward...be sure you depress the end of the buttons] and all the kicks[this can be assigned to one button just so you know]. As for SFA Chun...I loved her outfit in Alpha, but ive only played it[Alpha 1] once and Chun did rock in that game. Oh and Mobius...you have a PS3, yes? I want to challenge you this weekend. GMR4LFE...add me and we shall engage in battle...warrior.

Well, I'm skyping with friendly folks right now, and probably for the rest of the night - I'll have to see where the night/tomorrow takes me, and if we're on at the same time. XD;

But I figure we'll get our bout sooner or later!

Okay, I haven't been playing SF4 much and I don't intend to until I get a decent fightstick/pad, but can anyone explain how you do 'charge moves'? For example one of Chun Li's specials will say to charge back and then forth followed by a kick or w/e, but how do you actually do the charge? Pressing back/forwards just has the character move in that direction. As it stands, it makes playing any charge characters impossible. Assist, please?

Charge is holding the required direction back for a certain amount of time - and yes, the character DOES move but this is part and parcel of how it works. Hold the direction back for about 3 seconds, and then proceed to the next part of the move.

For example - Chun li's fireball (left side of screen):
3-seconds charge left, then immediately hit the right direction + The relevent punch button, or kick for the alternative 'kick' move instead.

Think Mortal Kombat in some respect as to the how it works. =D

Mobius's explanation was correct but allow me to give you a few shortcuts. Charging...only requires you to hold the first direction for a maximum of about 2 seconds. Let's take Chun Li's Ultra for instance, Hosenka. From the left side of the screen[facing right] you'll hold left for 2 seconds...then press right and go back once again to left[press it...don't charge it] and then right and immediately as you hit right for that last time press the kick x 3 button. But there is a trick to charge a move without moving:

*when on the left* If you hold down...but put like 80% of your pressure holding left it registers that left and you can perform charge attacks from the crouch position. It'll feel odd at first, but once you've got it...you've got it. Hope that helps you in your practice Pach.

I ended up doing that crouch thing with Guile to do his sonic boom, but it still felt awkward. Oh well, ridiculously stupid to learn combos.

As you get better at it, you'll learn how to begin charges from jumps and to do them during move delays to "mask" the charge. Jumping in with a strong kick, followed by a couple of the quick crouching jabs ending with a Sonic Boom is a basic charge combo.

Indeed, indeed. This comes in handy a ton when using Chun. Oh man. Hey PSx...do you have it? PS3? Let's go man! I challenge you! LOL

Hahaha, hey man great games. And I know what you mean about losing. Kills me too. But the matches were close
I thought. Your Ryu bested me quite a few times. Must definitely go again someday.

They were close, lol. That Gief win was total gimmick, I'm only decent with Sakura and Ryu.

I hate your Fei with a passion.

You want ease (though Blanka is real good. Stupid ball attack), play Ryu. Hit them with a lp shoryuken and make them eat either a super or ultra fireball while they're coming down.

No PS3 (yet)... my brother has the 360 but he doesn't want to get SFIV. He said he played it at a friend's house and got reamed by Seth on multiple counts. It's soured him on the game (this, after first getting seriously into SF again with the Xbox LIVE port of Hyper Fighting).

lol scrub

I assume that the basic gameplay style is still more or less similar to classic SFII. Oh well, I was much fonder of A-ism anyway. I never played SFIII competitively either, now that I think about it. Too bad, I would of liked to have abused the parry system.

Can't you just buy it yourself and play it when your bro's not playing?

...or is he just, like, really possessive and like "NO YOU DO NOT TOUCH 360."

...Cuz' that would suck.

Actually, he keeps trying to get me to play Fable 2 and Left 4 Dead. But I won't. There's just... something very uncomforting about having to use someone else's console for gaming. And since he has one, I have absolutely no incentive to get one of my own.

...

Feels bad, man.

Gameplay is very similar to SF2 except you can dash and focus attack (psuedo parry)

Custom combos/A Groove? Ahhhh nooooo (remembers A-Akuma)

What Torn said. I've not played the Alphas, unfortunately though. I really want to grab up Alpha Anthology though. Samurai Shodown Anthology for Wii looks like a better buy, for me though. 😛 Wait so...you haven't even gotten to play it Psx? O_O You...have got to be kidding me?! *weeps for you* Awww...

P.S. Yea how did you miss my challenge request. Haha!

I've only played Alpha 2 in arcades and Alpha 3 on my cousin's PS1/PS2/PS3. Alpha 2 is tight because it introduces Sakura (my favourite SF girl ever! ), but Alpha 3 is epic because of its character roster and overall gameplay. I haven't played Alpha 1 yet, but I've seen it in action and it looks alright I guess. I plan on playing it really soon. You should definitely grab Alpha Anthology, IMO. Also, I'll get to you with my PSN as soon as possible. PROMISE! Just a bit caught up in other things right now, but it'll happen. ^_^

Yea Alpha 3 Upper Max is very interesting to me. The roster is great. I know lots of people who absolutely love the Alpha series. As for the PSN don't even worry about it. I probably wouldn't even be able to play you, really. So don't feel rushed.

I hear Alpha 2's just a remake of Alpha 1... like, how they intended it to be. So you could probably skip that with no consequences... >_>

Except Alpha 1 had the hidden Ryu/Ken/Bison dramatic battle, which was all kinds of awesome.

It was only natural to include a standard Dramatic Battle mode for the home versions of Alpha 3.

Ahh...so it was hidden? The way people talked about it over at Capcom Unity, I figured it was the norm or something. Heh...nice.

Oh, that's right. For the home versions, you have to beat the game with any character at a high difficulty level (6 stars? I forget) and the mode will be unlocked and available on the main menu anytime.
