^ IGN.com has the JPN Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker demo for download.

Well, Sony finally showed off the new Wiimote Wand peripheral for the PS3. As I understand it, you can use a regular DualShock 3 together with the Wand, as you would the Wii's Nunchuk. Also a few games were announced to make use of the new control scheme: a new Ape Escape (yes!), Resident Evil 5: Alternate Edition and Little Big Planet will be patched to allow for the Wand.

EDIT: MOAR

Press Release:

TOKYO, Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) today announced that it will release a new Motion Controller (unofficial name) for PlayStation(R)3 (PS3(R)) computer entertainment system in Spring 2010. The new controller, equipped with high-precision, highly accurate motion sensors, can deliver a whole new entertainment experience on PS3 when combined together with the PlayStation(R)Eye camera(*1). Capable of recognizing and tracking a user's face and voice as well as body motion, PlayStation Eye can also output the player's image onto the TV screen. SCE will vigorously promote the expansion of this new experience only possible on the PS3 platform.

The newly announced Motion Controller is equipped with two motion sensors, three axes gyroscope and three axes accelerometer that can detect the controller's angle and movement held in the user's hand. Together with the PlayStation Eye camera for PS3 which can accurately track the absolute position of the controller, the controller can detect the natural and intuitive movement of the hand and reflect the precise movement on to the game. The sphere placed on the top of the controller is not only used to track the absolute position but can also give visual feedback to users by changing the colors or the illuminating patterns of the sphere. Furthermore, the new controller is also equipped with a rumble feature, familiar to the PlayStation(R) DUALSHOCK(R) series controller, delivering an immersive gaming experience to users.

Further expanding the new experience on PS3, SCE Worldwide Studios will deliver many exciting software titles for the Motion Controller in 2010(*2). SCE, with strong support from software developers and publishers, will deploy various measures to enhance the software title line-up for the new Motion Controller and vigorously promote the PS3 platform.

Lunar Remake

Lunar: Harmony of Silver Star (Another remake). I hope this is good (walking sprites seem nice), hope it comes to the states and I hope it doesn't lose that quirky WD humor (Even though they are gone).

Last Ranker

Apparently a new RPG from Capcom. Gives me Breath of Fire vibes for some reason, most likely the designs. I'll keep my eye on it.

It's going to be localized and published by XSeed. They won't be using the WD script even though Vic Ireland offered it to them (yeah he's still around, he seems to pop up at NeoGAF a lot... he runs GaijinWorks, a company that specializes in localizing games behind-the-scenes), and will be translating the game themselves.

Probably because the character designer hails from the (now defunct, I guess) Breath of Fire series. Music's by Yoko Shimomura (Legend of Mana, Parasite Eve, Kingdom Hearts series) so we can expect a sweet soundtrack with lots of piano.

EDIT: What the...? Wild Arms series sequel heading to 360? source

Ninokuni

Art reminds me of a Hiyazaki (Or whoever is the guy who did movies like Porco Rosso, Kiki's Delivery Service...etc.) and it looks gorgeous.

Psx: Is that so? I have been behind the ball on this Lunar remake. I hope it turns out good nonetheless. I didn't know that Yoko was doing the soundtrack for the Last Ranker but if so, I will have to listen to the soundtrack when it appears pronto.

It's Studio Ghibli all right, they're handling the game's character designs and artwork. Plus, it's being developed by Level 5 (Dark Cloud, Dragon Quest VIII and IX, the Professor Layton games) so you know it's quality.

If I remember correctly the game is meant to be played alongside an included book that you use to solve the game's puzzles.

Lunar is looking sexy as heck with the handdrawn character "sprites", but---Nrrrrr... It's on it's forth remake. Stop the foreplay and bring out a super-even-better version of Eternal Blue.

Lunar 2 may very well be the best RPG I've ever played, Complete is amazing, but I need MOAR!

I've yet to get through Silver Star--- tracking down a copy took a LONG time and we only just found one at our local 2nd hand videogame store ($40! Yes!)---- but I enjoy the concept of Eternal Blue more.

I've played TONS of "religion based on real events (that you find out about) screws over world" RPG plots before... Tales of Symphonia and FFX to name just two. But this is the first one where said religion is based on events THAT YOU PLAYED. Let's just say it asks the question "What happened to Lunar after Alex and Luna got together?" the answer is the Cult of Althena... and with it brings the threat of a return from the evil monster Zophar.

The main character of the game, Lucia, is a wonderful concept. Whereas Luna was a well adjusted girl with some mild angst and confusion over her past--- Lucia knows what she is and what she must do. When we first meet her, she is alone on The Blue Star, sleeping eternally until she is able to recreate the life on that barren wasteland that was wiped out years ago when Zophar first gained power. She has never interacted with anyone before. She has only one focus and that is rebirthing the Blue Star--- so when she wakes up and senses Zophar's return, she decides she has to save The Blue Star and prevent his return at all costs.

When she arrives on Lunar, an adventure archelogist picks her up and she declares she must speak with Althena--- players of the first game will know right away how that goes for her.

It's beautiful as both a stand alone game and as a sequel. There is a prominent supporting character who we know and love and one of the villains from the first game makes a triumphant return. Not to mention we get to see what became of Vane thousands of years after what happened in Silver Star and some other cool references to the original mythos.

I just love how character driven it all is, and by the time the big bad appears we care so deeply for all of the characters that the gravity of the situation collapses in on itself and becomes a black hole of OHSNAP. Though, the spoilers in the first game are a lot more dramatic, and due to playing the first the spoilers in the second will be a little more predictable, I doubt it's easy to figure out the major Shamalan moment towards the end of disc 2 (of the PS1 version) and it is just made of win.

Please give it a try if you have the opportunity to. If nothing else for the SUPER SAD TEARY SCENE where a character speaks at length about characters from the first game. Damn you, good writing. You make a grown man weep!

I echo Craig's sentiments without a moment of hesitance.

I played Eternal Blue back in 1996, back when I was young and didn't realize it was a sequel to Silver Star. Back then, it was a fun game, but terribly difficult. Playing through it again now that I'm old enough to appreciate the writing completely changed the game and made it one of my favorite games of all time, and after 13 years, I finally have the opportunity to play the first one and my verdict is the same as Craig's - from what we've played so far (which isn't much, I admit), it's a great and interesting game, but Eternal Blue is better. Not just because of nostalgia, either.

Now if you are going to play it, I would recommend the PS1 version. Sega CD version's got some great dated lines ("NO WAY! That's too Annie Lennox. NEXT!"), but I've found you don't have to level-grind as hard in the remake. Which is perfect for people like me who steer away from RPGs for that exact thing.

...I'll stop gushing. Kitty already said everything I could ever want to say. 8D

Another gaming forum I was on was throwing around rumors of a Legend of Dragoon 2 (Mind you, this happens EVERY major gaming expo, and no cash so far), but is there any word of it? I would cream myself so much if that actually was true, I loved the original so much <3

Just as well, level grinding in Lunar 1 Complete can get you massacred. Working Designs made it so that every boss' stats go up as your party gains levels, in order to keep people from employing "grind-to-win" tactics.

Realizing the futility and adhering to complaints that the bosses were too hard, that feature wasn't programmed into Eternal Blue.

Lunar is looking sexy as heck with the handdrawn character "sprites", but---Nrrrrr... It's on it's forth remake. Stop the foreplay and bring out a super-even-better version of Eternal Blue.

Or... a new Lunar. And I don't mean Dragon Song. 🙁

haha wow. I've wanted Lunar 2 for years regardless (Love the Lunar series) but you two are making me want it more so, darnit.

Psx: I remember that in Lunar 1. I kind of liked it because unlike FF8, there was no way to exploit the game to make it easier, though I do recall the game giving me a fit, causing me to take a break for a bit. I heard about the problems with Dragon Song, ugh was really hoping it would have been good. I miss the world of Lunar.

Hukos: Along with Legend of the Dragoon 2 rumors, I also heard talk of PS2 compatibility and DC emulation on the PS3 but those seem to be just rumors so far. No confirmation yet.

Doesn't surprise me. This happens every time E3 and TGS and whatever expo arrives. Someone claims that they'll be showing a sequel, from an unknown source obviously

TGS trailer for Resident Evil 5: Alternative version

Hm, seems we're getting playable Spencer Mansion. Probably not integrated into the main game, but a Seperate Ways-esque bonus mode.

yeah, lipsyncing was done really well in the ingame part, but the beginning cinematic's lipsyncing was real bad. Oh well though, still looking forward to it.

To be expected. That beginning cinematic is most likely pre-rendered FMV and can't be manipulated in real-time like the in-game graphical cinematics. There's still time to re-render those scenes, though... especially since this is a Final Fantasy title. Though sometimes Squeenix can be a little lazy, especially where lots of FMV is used for spoken scenes (Kingdom Hearts re:CoM springs to mind... though I guess it didn't help that localization wasn't begun until a year after completion).
