The trailer's here. (Changed it to one I feel runs better)
Hell yes. If I enjoy this as much as I did Tooie, it's another excellent reason to get a 360 next year.
About time Banjo Kazooie came back. The clayish look of them makes them look like they've been ripped out of StH '06 but I don't mind that, because Banjo Kazooie is brilliant, and as long as Rare don't screw it up, this will be on my wishlist next year.
Hey guys. I have a question.
Will Rare be allowed to work on something original ever again?
I'm no Rare fan but: Kameo, Viva Pinita, Grabbed by the Ghoulies.
Kameo had that monster changing ability and Pinita has those things with the human looking eyes.

Not if they want to stay profitable.
Personally, I'd rather play an excellent, unoriginal game than an original, lackluster game. But that's just me.
Never mind, I mixed them up with Bungie. Rare's pretty much a hollowed-out shell though. A shadow of its former self.
Actually, to answer the question if "Bungie" was where "Rare" is, yeah, they apparently are working on an original license alongside Halo 3. Dunno what it is, although I'll bet you it ISN'T Pimps At Sea.
Perhpas that's True, Cyc. I wouldn't know, as I don't think I've played a Rare game since Tooie, which was excellent.
I'll bet you it ISN'T Pimps At Sea.
That sounds like it would make an excellent movie.
In relevant news, I didn't really enjoy Tooie that much since rare just downplayed stop n swap and made it some crap thing. Big chance stop n swap was just made to mess with us, but whatever.
As for this, shame I don't have a 360.
Rare made no promises regarding Stop 'n Swap, then fulfilled every one of them.

The bear and bird are BACK!
Just in time for late 2008!
MASSIVE BUMP: On April Fool's Day, Rare released the basic plot of the game. The catch: They also mention 4 decoy plots during it. Rare, you loveable jerks. And the credit of the pictures go to Cammi of the DKVine
"Rumour One: Banjo and Grunty team up against a new threat, falling in love in the process.
Sexy post-transformation Grunty makes a return and proves irresistible to our heroic bear, much to Kazooie's disgust. Can the mismatched trio defeat their fire-breathing foe?"
(My thoughts: Sonic 2006, LOL! Hold you in my arms, yeah. Hopefully if this one true, they'll break up)
"Rumour Two: Kazooie is abducted by aliens and Banjo heads out to search the cosmos.
Partway through his low-gravity exploits, he discovers who's taken her... and it's a familiar face from the Rare archives who has been 'turned to the green side' by Grunty."
(My thoughts: I hope not. People already bash Rare for 'taking' Nintendo's ideas even if Rare improves on the fomula)
"Rumour Three: Banjo and Kazooie travel back through time in pursuit of the witch's giant T.I.T.
Grunty drives her Time Interfering Truck back to before the bear and bird met. The duo must reintroduce themselves and relearn everything they know in a completely new way!"
(My thoughts: IMO, this seems the most plusiable)
"Rumour Four: Banjo comes out of retirement to stop his home being redeveloped into tower blocks and malls.
To end the struggle, a capricious higher power engineers a bear/witch showdown through worlds of the imagination - with Spiral Mountain's ownership deeds going to the victor."
(My thoughts: Well, in a Christmas Card, Banjo looked older)
"Rumour Five: War comes to Spiral Mountain, and Banjo becomes a reluctant leader.
Ever seen a Jinjo Tank? Or Grunty's Grappling Grenadier Grunts? You will when you take on our innovative RTS-platformer hybrid campaign."
(My thoughts: M-rated Banjo. No thanks. It worked for Conker because Pocket Tales wasn't popular and too childish. Anyone who played Tooie, knows of it's hidden adult content. And we all know Jinjonator> Jinjo Tank)
I think 4 is the most likely, but 2 is a possibility (albeit an unoriginal one) and 3 sounds like a bit of a laugh. Well, at least for as long as the novelty of T.I.T. stays. I wouldn't completely write out 5 either but I consider it incredibly unlikely and I don't particularly like the idea.
I wish Rare would announce more about it >=/ hopefully MS Game Studios will give a preview at this year's E3
I hope we get the BK games on the VC soon (ha ha ha, yeah right). I think I rented one once and that was it.
oh, that first news source is from 2006 @ SV2
i don't think they'd come to VC. The rights belong Rare, who in turn belong to Microsoft. It's the same debacle as the whole Goldeneye on XBLA thing.

Too bad they've already done that in Grunty's Revenge for the GBA.
I was surprised no one had updated this. Turns out editing no longer bumps topics. Bleh.
anyway, there are a few more been leaked here than at the place you linked. I find this one particularly interesting. Robo Grunty?
And i guess we'll be seeing more city-like environments.
all in all, this looks like it will be cool up to now. Only problem is a lot of these screenshots seem to focus on vehicles. I hope there's still platforming purity in there.
Oh, hey, look, it's that gay frog. Jolly Rodger, wasn't it? @ city picture.
Rare did say he's coming back, so it's a likely suggestion.
Oh, and Rare has said that it isn't a racer. Which i guess is good news.
Of course. It being a racer is like suggesting that Mario Kart 64 is Super Mario 64 2.
Looks like they're going for plot #4...?
Wow this sounds great. I've only played a demo if the BK series[believe it was BT actually] and it was fun but at the time I wasn't too interested in it. Wish I was though. I want to play the older ones. Why the heck did Rare go to Microsoft?!
Because Microsoft bought them?
A thread in NeoGAF revealed:
Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (360)
- RARE says they didn't want to make a hi res version of the old Banjo platformer.
- You create vehicles with parts you find around the levels.
- GI says their first vehicles was a 4 wheeled kart with a spring attached to the bottom that allowed them to jump things. They later found a helicopter blade that allowed their kart to fly. Later they added balloons to the vehicle and put the blade on the back and created a hovercraft.
- RARE showed them a vehicle that was a monster truck that was able to detach its chasis to become a mini bike. When the bike ramped off a cliff it revealed collapsible glider wings and started flying.
- There will be 1,600 parts including weapons that you'll be able to attach to the vehicles.
- The town is called Showdown Town.
- GI says that despite the large focus on vehicles it still features platform elements from the previous games like traditional platforming, tight rope walking and jiggy piece collecting.
- Showdown Town is 16 times larger than anything RARE has created before.
- Every level has a different intro. Nutty Acres begins with a credits spoof of 80's soap opera's like Dallas.
- Note collecting is back and will act has currency that'll allow you to bu vehicle blueprints.
- RARE says there are 15 different challenges spread across 6 different levels. There will also be side missions.
Yeah, the building pieces revealment made it seem like story 4 is the official story. I just hope a good old platforming is still around in the game
Probably we already know how the platforming will work out.
My main hope is that even with all this emphasis on vehicles the platforming still manages to be fun in its own right and not just a mere formality. The trailer put far more emphasis on the vehicles than I would like, but I don't know if that's a genuine reflection of the game balance or them just showing off their new gimmick. I hope it's the latter.
That said, the vehicle building does have a lot of potential. It'd be especially good if it allowed for genuine creativity and inventiveness in solving problems and tackling challenges. The key thing would be if the large number of pieces (1600) amounted to a ridiculous degree of variety rather than a tiny proportion of combinations that actually do anything useful and almost everything else being utterly useless or there being a large amount of parts that are redundant or don't have any major effect. However if Rare're doing things the way this preview seems to suggest they're doing things, then it should avoid either of those traps and could end up being a lot of fun in an almost LEGO-ey sort of way.
This game could go either way really. Could end up being really fun, could end up being dreadfully mediocre. We'll see.
Because Microsoft bought them?
Money is the decline of the world, the world I tell you!!!
Root of all evil, 'tis.
i know that it was linked in the post above but:
[21] http://kotaku.com/5008885/banjo+kazoog -'hot-new-bird-on-bear-action ok at first i had my doubts about the vehicle thing but this vid looks really nifty
Loved the first game to death back in the day. This one is looking very very interesting. Can't wait to see more on it.
For anyone in Britain, Nuts & Bolts features as the cover article of this months GamesTM magazine. I've yet to read the article in question but by the sounds of things they are pleased with the game.
I like the Humba Wumba redesign.
A definite improvement if ever there was one.
So the original Banjo Kazooie is coming to XBLA or whatever.
It is said that it will feature the full intact of Stop N Swop as well but it was swap the items with Nuts n Bolts.
Banjo Kazooie coming to XBLA is brilliant news. I'm surprised Ninty didn't try to have their slice again like they seemingly did with Goldeneye, though.
It'll at least shut the whiny, nostalgic, Banjo fans up for awhile. lol
Demo out on Live, changed the title to reflect this obviously. I'll post my impressions when I'm less busy.
Vehicles were hard to control. Turning radius was a little too loose, perhaps, or maybe the analog sensitivity or something. Either way, it was quite difficult to pull of the fine, delicate maneuvers they require you to do because you have a tendency to overshoot things quite easily...
It was still pretty fun, but I'm on the fence about the pre-order. On the one hand, if I do it, I get both games for $40 and get the N64 Banjo-Kazooie early. On the other hand, I'll potentially end up paying for a game I don't really want... >_>

That's exactly how I'm feeling. Getting a free game with an already cheap one is hard to let go. I did get frustrated with the controls also. I couldn't keep some weird bugs from attacking this one guy because turning is a complete beast. Maybe its just because I'm using a very bad vehicle. At least I hope that's the problem.
Whee I have more time now.
Liked:
Graphics were fresh and colourful, a rarity in today's industry.
Rare's humour hasn't gone missing, which is nice to see.
Vehicle customisation is easy and quick.
The few places where you can do old style platforming are great.
Disliked:
Physics feel a little off; all the vehicles i used felt a little floaty and the handling could be awkward.
I had a hard time building a vehicle that was useful; the only thing I've really built from scratch is essentially a block with wheels, wings, floatation devices and propellers. Fun to fly around in and go underwater with, but for the challenges on hand in the demo it was pretty useless.
There wasn't much old style platforming to be had; this is gonna plague this game through every review, but at the end of the day it's obvious Nuts & Bolts was built for vehicles alone. The large areas can't be adequately traversed by foot and if the demo is any indication not a single challenge will allow you to do so, seeing as you pick a vehicle before you start and get jammed straight into it.
Overall, I'm cautiously optimistic. What I played wasn't Banjo as it used to be, but it was still an enjoyable game, if a little finicky with it's vehicle physics. I'm also hoping that the demo has been 'shuffled' a bit, as having to collect all the jiggies from one area before being allowed to advance to the next was a bit harsh. Also there didn't seem to be much value in searching. All I could find were notes, which didn't really serve much of a purpose in the demo, as they could only be used to buy vehicles from Humba and get hints from Bottles to areas which you can't access in the demo anyway. Seems a bit of a shame all the jiggies seem to be locked up in missions when some of the fun of the earlier games was just roaming in search of them and seeing what you found.
I played the demo. I'm incredibly disappointed.
First off, the graphics are nice and the sense of humor is still there in full force. All of my favorite characters from the older games are present. The core concept of traversing open levels and collecting notes and jiggies remains. However, the gameplay is where it completely fell apart for me. I didn't like the vehicle idea to begin with, and it proved to be even worse in action than it was in writing. Vehicles are difficult to control, due to slow turning and floaty physics. Even when I tried to go out and explore on foot classic-style, I quickly gave up due to the ridiculously large environments and lack of ways to progress without the vehicles.
I was really hoping that Rare would surprise me and make this a fantastic game. Now, I'm not so sure.
You know vehicle control is directly linked to where you position the wheels, right? Too close together and you'll be flipping over more than half the time, too much and it seems hard to turn.

I still don't like the concept. :/
I'm still not taken by it, but I'm hoping it works better in the final game. In the demo it seems like you're thrown in partway through the game with parts that you would expect to have early on and with little guidance on how to build beyond simply being given the basic controls - I'm hoping there's further tutorials in the earlier levels of the game towards the goal of building something worthwhile.
By my experiance with the demo I thought it would get somewhere near a C.
Of course this is one review. Has anyone seen any others?
