The main character from FFXII is by a wide margin the dumbest looking VG character since Tidus and his wanky leather overalls.

Tidus and his w**** leather overalls?! Well okay it may not be the best outfit ever...I sort of liked Shuyin's outfit a lot more...but it's better than Wakka's bright yellow pants...o_O...I liked the designs of the outfits in FFX a lot but 8 and 7 had the most boring outfits ever...

And I'm skeptical when they say Vann and Ashe won't hook up in FF12...I still have a feeling they will hook up at the end. Pennolo's hair is sort of annoying though...I wish they would axe the ponytails...she seems like a good character...

I LOVED WAKKA'S BRIGHT YELLOW PANTS!!! I WANT SOME!!!

And while we're on the subject of outfits, just what was Lulu's million-and-one belts about??? Yuna looked like an easter egg with that massive bow on her back...

Tidus was ok I thought. I loved Auron's cloak though!

Back to FFXII, I haven't seen much, but what I've seen looks pretty sweet!

The only problem is I don't think I'll be able to drag myself away from XI long enough to play it

WARNING, I CANNOT GET THESE SPOILER CODES TO WORK...
I'VE EDITED THEM 12 TIMES, TRIED EVERYTHING IN BOTH HTML AND EZCODES AND IT JUST WONT SPOILERFY...
SO BE WARNED....

Spoiler
Aparently Penelo is Vaans girlfriend, so he's already hooked up. IF he DOES hook up with Ashe then then he'll have to break it off with her first which would be an interesting twist for an FF Game...

i seem to be bringing all the news in around here guys :cuckoo

ALso, I think the outfits in FF7 were brilliant, simplistic yet evocative...
In FFX they were a tad overdone but generally good, although I agree Shuyin had a better costume than Tidus...
FFX12 LOOKS to be simmilar to FF7, but on the other end of the gritty scale. Their simple and practical, but much lighter in colour...

Cant say much about FF8, that seemed to me a game where people were just wearing CLOTHES instead of outfits...
Which isn't a bad thing really...

I mean, Yuna always wears summoning clothes, Tidus and Wakka always wears Blitz gear, Cloud always wore that srmour/jumpsuit shirt thing.... Barret always had that combat jacket. Their not wearing clothes, their wearing outfits...
But the outfits in FF8 were more natural, more like...
proper clothes that you can actually see someone wearing...

I hope you understand?

Parts of it are SOOO dark and SOO gritty, the entire game is set in something not to dissimilar fro ma gigantic midgar.
Is Shadow the Hedgehog bombs, Jak 2 will be the game it OUGHT to of been, it featuresan angsty dark main lead sporting an array of guns as he takes on aliens invading the city and invovles time travel and tips the scales between good and evil

What aliens? Jak never battled any aliens in Jak 2.

It really is a masterfull game, and despite how dark, angsty and gritty it is, the story is engaging, pulls you in, has great voice acting and the occasional glimpses of light humour are superb.

In fact, i challenge anyone who thinks dark, gritty and angsty games are a BAD thing to play Jak 2 and come out saying that they were put off by the colour of the sky.
Trust me, it's one of the greatest platformers on the system, it has everything and the storyline is second to none. It's not up to final fantasy standards, but it blows BOTH of the Sonic Adventure games out of the water.

*sniff* I wuv you. Yes, I LOVED Jak 2 and that is a rare case for me since I hate angst crap (although I did felt Jak did get slightly more lighter in the end). While I do miss the colorful worlds of Jak 1 (I love colorful worlds), Jak 2 still retains my fave of the Jak series. It's such a shame Jak 3 disappointed me SOOOOOOOOOOOO much.

And to answer your question, yes, I would like it to look like FF7. It was only actually THAT dark in midgar and looked quite normal out of the city, but my preferable colour scheme is something rich and vibrant like FFX...
No one could accuse THAT of being european.

I like colorful worlds, too. FFX's world was wonderful, but I felt the colors in some cases to be too durn fruity for me. I mean, the airship alone was a vast pink, blue, and lavender and while I consider that beautiful, it looked more flamboyant then anything else. I think it's mostly because I've already lost taste in the extremely loud outfits that 98% of the entire Spira population wears (and might I add, in my humble opinion, that 98% outfits are just ugh in my eyes).

FF9 is the world I love the most. Eye candy but not dark and drab for me to be bored with nor super-duper colorful that it'll look so durn fruity or what not. It's sorta mixes the two together and come out enough for me to appreciate it. It's the FF world I'd LOVE to live in.

Oh, yea, and I want those little FF7:AC figurines. They're SO cute.

I believe he's referring to the Metalheads.

And why the hate against Jak 3?

I believe he's referring to the Metalheads.

The game never said anything about Metal Heads being aliens. They were just monsters who fought the Precursors a long time ago. I'm not gonna rule it out since the game did not tell of the MH origin and they could have come from space for all I know, but I more or less see then as creatures who've been on the planet as long as the Precursors have.

And why the hate against Jak 3?

I won't get into a full rant mode since this is an FF board and because I KNOW I'll be making an essay worth on why I didn't like Jak 3 as the others, so I'll make a short list.

~First of all, I do not hate Jak 3. The gameplay is as rich and diverse as ever, however...
~I love the diversity, but I felt it didn't have any platforming elements balanaced out with other stuff that Jak 2 did.
~The storyline...well, it wasn't good. Plotholes and questions not answered was what kept me from liking it so much when Jak 2 had SUCH a grand scale in terms of story (There are specific nitpicks I could point out, but I'll already have consumed your time, so I won't say nothing unless you really want me to). If only Naughty Dog would have just given it another year of development.

I was indeed referring to the Metalheads...
They came from another planet to invade this one, and although it's possible that they DID originate on this one, they still count as Aliens as they moved out for a temporary period in between....
Jak 3 was 2 things:
Bad plot, too cliched and not enough of it, important events were just rolling out one after the other.
It was going through the motions, there was no real passion like there was in Jak 2. Things werent explained well enough, they just happened..

It was MUCH to short...

It had GREAT potential, but it just didn't do what we waned it to do, it just trundled down a road to mediocrity...

Back to FF....
Yeah, well, I'm sure it IS practical for a princess to be able to, ahem, give her troops a good view to bring their morals up before a big battle, gives them a passion to fight better, so on and so forth... :o

As for the practicality:
But, I mean look at that:
c-uncut.com/media/ff12-balflear.jpg

It's both detailed and AMAZINGLY simple at the same time...
Well done to the designer, it's almost perfect.

Yes, it is skimpy...

It's no impractical, but it is...
I don't know, you're right, the simplicity the males have does seem to have been lost on the females.

Just from a purely design point it'd be easier to make things simple for men.

I mean, follow the neck, straight line down the chest, straight line down the legs and to the feet...
Unless you make them fat, which I've yet to see a fat FF character...

But, c-uncut.com/media/ff12-basch.jpg
See, he is just pretty much a brick with a head arms and legs...

But with women, you have curves and bump and twists which just aren't there in men.
Although I will use this as MY counter to that anti-counter:

c-uncut.com/media/ff12-penelo.jpg

There is nothing wrong with that outfit that there is with the other two girls...

AND, the other two girls main problems is the fancy leg wear, very odd looking tights and knee caps, and this fascination with leg wear has crossed over to Vaan as well:

What about Josef in FFII? He's fairly hefty. Granted it was an old game, but I can't think of a more recent chubby FF male.

Male OR female...
Hmm, actually tha (is it Steiner) knight bloke in FF9 could almot qualify...

Or the chef who was ALSO in FF9...

So, for these, ahem, enlarged characters, they just make the brick a slightly larger oval.
Their still simpler to design...

They came from another planet to invade this one, and although it's possible that they DID originate on this one, they still count as Aliens as they moved out for a temporary period in between....

But even if you say they originated in here, they'd still count as origins of Jak's world. I mean, if Jak traveled in space and returned back home, would you consider him an alien of his own world?

The game, as far as I'm concerned, never mentioned if they did come from another planet. I'm not ruling it out, but you just seem to be stating it as a fact (correct me if I misinterpreted what you meant), and I really don't remember the game EVER saying they were from another planet. I'm reading the game's script in gamefaqs just to be sure though.

Jak 3 was 2 things:
Bad plot, too cliched and not enough of it, important events were just rolling out one after the other.
It was going through the motions, there was no real passion like there was in Jak 2. Things werent explained well enough, they just happened..

It was MUCH to short...

What you said. Not to mention the plotholes which made aboslute no sense and given NO explantation whatsoever. I'm still racking my brain on the possible (if ND intended it) romance between Ashelin/Jak which was SO unexpected and unexplained it just "ughs" me. Man, I'm SUCH a Jak geek.

On FF12', since everyone seems to be talking about their outfit, all I can say is most of them look really nice, including Vaan. It's colorful, but not loud, flamboyant colorful that I disliked about FFX's (and their already bad fashion sense in my opinion).

Male OR female...
Hmm, actually tha (is it Steiner) knight bloke in FF9 could almot qualify...

I actually see Steiner more as big-boned then fat. He doesn't look like he has a beer belly (unless he's armor is REALLY holding it well).

I almost characterize Josef as being muscular but I do agree he is sort of hefty. Cait Sith was also massive...Steiner seemed to be just solid instead of fat...though yeah Quina was rather chunky...

It is true in some cases on FF though that they do a great diservise to women in general. Like one of those links above for instance, so revealing etc. Granted there are women out there who would dress like that, but they're few and far between.

It's basically pandering to mens desires, and making women appear as objects instead of people in the process. I'm not going to go off on one...save that for the Marble Garden, but it does seem to happen quite regularly in FF.

A good point though is the fact that they usually balance it with other charaters, like the other link above. Not ALL the female charaters are like that.

Except for the fact that Square Enix's target audience with the FF series are women, and that the main character is also rather under-dressed. Seriously, the arguement can be applied to male characters too, people just ignore it and focus on the women.

I do notice most women dressed scandily in most FF, but in most cases, but I've gotten to not care about that. In the end, I look more for their personalities then anything else, plus, I gots to admit, some of the female outfits are sure pretty.

Actually, from what I've seen with the series the most male cleavage we've had so far is Tidus's bare chest in FFX...

The argument CAN be applied both ways, but to be honest it's MUCH easier just to let it drop...
But, one last point:
And this is another argument for FF7, no women in that game had undesired cleavage (apart from the summon Shive who has appeared in pretty much every game with simmilar design), and we even got to see Cloud cross dressing and everyon giggling at him...

Doesn't stop the gazillions of people oggling Tifa's breasts.

But I mostly wanna talk about crossdressing Cloud which is one of the many highlights of FF7 for me. I mean, come on, making him almost kiss Don Corneo still cracks a smile on me.

INTERESTING.

Final Fantasy IV Goes GBA
This holiday, Nintendo will release what was Final Fantasy II on the SNES.
by Craig Harris

September 14, 2005 - Nintendo of America has announced that the company will publish Final Fantasy IV for the Game Boy Advance / Game Boy Micro this holiday season.

Final Fantasy IV is the Japanese name for what was released in the US as Final Fantasy II, the first Super NES version of Square's immensely popular RPG series. Though the game's main design -- including 18 towns and castles, dozens of spells and hundreds of monsters -- remains intact in the move from SNES to GBA, additional game elements unique to the handheld version have been added to the production.

Nintendo released the original Final Fantasy and the Japanese Final Fantasy II on the GBA in the US as Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls in 2004. Nintendo of America will release Final Fantasy IV for the GBA on December 12th.

Cheers? Jeers? Anyone else surprised that Square-Enix has FFIII go DS while Nintendo likes its sequel in GBA country?

Not really. At this point, GBA games aren't as expensive to make as DS games. Final Fantasy III (or VI) will most likely make more than Final Fantasy II (or IV).

Random speculation!

Okay everyone knows I'm into the old FF games but I see no reason why I should buy this...especially since I've beated the game several times already...but I still want FF3...

...now if they add some new content and new dungeons and such, I might be interested...because I played the, "hard" version and I thought that was easy...maybe something like the optional dungeons in FF1 (Dawn of Souls) or the Afterworld quest for FF2...

Indifference here.

As I said I've never played the older FFs, much as I'd like to, but I don't have a GBA and have no intention of getting one. I have a kind of hate-hate relationship with Nintendo, A list of a million reasons why I hate them that can all be summed up in one word: Mario

So yeah, doesn't affect me in any way really...

Final Fantasy V & VI Bound for GBA

Square's popular SNES trilogy soon available again on another Nintendo console.

After splitting with Nintendo after the 32-bit days, Square Enix has jumped right back in with games coming on a regular basis for Nintendo's consoles and, in particular, its handhelds. The latest games getting the Game Boy Advance treatment will be yet more instalments in the popular Final Fantasy series, according to a report at Japanese site GPara.

With Final Fantasy IV already announced, the RPG classic will be joined on the Game Boy Advance by both of its sequels, Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI.

Square Enix's announcement means that, with the exception of Final Fantasy III, which is headed to the DS, fans of the classic RPG series will be able to catch up on all pre-Final Fantasy VII instalments on the Game Boy Advance.

As yet, none of the Game Boy Advance Final Fantasy games has been explicitly confirmed for release in Europe, though Final Fantasy IV is due for release in North America on 12 December, suggesting a similar announcement is imminent.

Apparently Square has dubbed yon SNES ports as the Final Fantasy Portable project.

Even if it involves shelling 30 pounds out on a multi region DVD player, I'll do it.

And if I have to import Advent Children I might as well get these gams along with it...
Which will mean waiting til lthey all come out...

DAMN squareenix, just release things in europe at all. I dont care if their a few months late as long as I know I'll get them eventually, but tell us what your going to do.

I'll just mount the TINY PSP on the living room wall then shall I? I'll blue tack it up there and all five of us can squint at this tiny letterboxed screen?

I FINALLY finished FF7 today... Properly, the only thing I dont have is the complete Battle Arena, Knights of the Round, Emerald Weapon and Gold Chocobo...

But I got everything else and thrashed sephiroth... Well sort of, end of the final battle EVERYONE was on 0 health and two of my characters were frogs????

The One Winged Angel was killed by a level 3 Ifrit summon, courtesy of an unfrogified Yuffie... Happy days.

Okay, now that games over I've only got FF2, FF8, FFTA and the extra dungeons in FF1 Dawn of souls version to go before the new releases come out...

I think since I'm in the UK i might have enough time to do that :razz

Hey Swifty did you get Omnislash? (And why is it that whenever I hear "Omnislash" I think of someone having a 5 hour long urination... :] )

I've played through 7 about 6 tmes, and on my last time I decided to make sure I was uber-poweful...I had Climbhazard before leaving Midgar, Omnislash before going into Temple of the Ancients and made sure I got KoR as soon as I was possibly able! I have since defeated Emerald and Ruby weapon, am one star off master-leveling KoR (not counting master summon materia), and am officially the most powerful being on the planet^^

Good times! ">
