Fullscreen DVDs are still for n00bs.
Way to completely misunderstand my post.
Sounds more like you misunderstood his. It's obvious he was talking about the puny PSP screen being inappropriate for the spectacle of CGI that is Advent Children, choice of wording notwithstanding.
Yes, well I just about beat Safer Sephiroth and THATS what counts, doesnt matter how close it was...
But no, I didnt have Omnislash, or Tifas final limit either. So when I got into the extra bit and Sephiroth died in one go I was surprised to say the least... I mean I'd heard that Cloud practically NEVER lost, but, phew...
And thanks Psx thats exactly what I meant.
I still want to know why he thought fullscreen were for n00bs out of pure curiousity.
And congrats on beating Sephiroth, Swift. I remember when I first battled him all those years ago, then watched the ending in all it's awe.

Fullscreen DVDs chop a thrid of the picture off so that people don't get "Black Bars". The logic(or lack thereof) of that astounds me. And for clarity's sake, in the future, just use "On a TV Screen" as opposed to saying "Fullscreen".
Just like I have to use one of these at the end of EVERY ONE OF MY FREAKING POSTS or thing like this happen.

Ahhhh, I see.

Why, just because you don't like fullscreen doesn't mean I should stop saying it. I'll say whatever I darn well feel comfortable with, thank you very much.

Not ALL widescreens do that, just some... And yes, it IS annoying, VERY annoying.
And no, I meant FULLSCREEN as in it's a fullscreen, not a little postage stamp sized image. I made it quite clear that that was how I meant it in my first post. I want a crystal clear picture that takes up a full screen thankyou very much.
Anyway, FF4 is now dated for Japan, so it's just European release to confirm...
Come on Sqauare Enix, dont dissapoint me.
I managed to watch Advent Children a few days ago. I was gonna wait for the US release, but my sis got a burnt copy from a friend, so I was all "screw that" and watched it anyways.
Any who, without spoiling, it was a decent flick with few minor things that irked me, but generally I loved it. It also had my fave FF7 character in it which made me squeal like a fangirl...I scare myself sometimes. *shudders*
~Neo
I've seen the trailers on the site, and I know it's got my 3 fav characters^^
I am so looking forward to seeing it!!!

It may be delayed by YET ANOTHER month, but its coming out on DVD in the UK !!!!
YES YES YES...
I'm half way through the second disk of FF8, and although thre's a lot going on the Plot has yet to leap out of the window without me noticing...
I'm well abredst of what's happened so far, and what each means. Even though I have questions upon questions nothing, besides Lagunas first appearance, has made me sit up and think "Why????"
At the moment I'm wondering, does the game really deserve the label I got from it's plot which was: "Sorry, mate, got lost five minutes in..."
I'm sitll looking for a chapc copy of FF9, waiting for FF4 to come out in the UK (sheesh, does that box art look amazing?) and with luck, within a year I'll of been able to play A version of each of the main titles from 1 right up to 12... well, except 11...
All I can say about FF8's story is that I never liked as much as the others. Too many cheap ways in my opinion.
~Neo
I always see FFVIII as being rife with flaws.... but shining out though them was more inspiration and ideas than any other FF. Like the way the game did FMV and cutscenes.
Anyways...
Advent Children is pure fanservice. However, it's pretty fanservice with nice fights, and has a better plot than the game.
Cloud, however, still has no personality.
I will admit, Advent Children still retains it's flaws, but it's still better then Spirits Within. Man, that movie was boring.
Plus, it has my fave FF7 character of all time. I was fangirling when he popped up on screen, as much as I hate to admit.
~Neo
I only ever got up to about half way through disk 2 on FFVIII...it got boring. I do intend to complete it one day, but I dunno when.
I think there were some interesting ideas in it, but it didn't really capture my imagination the way VII, and to a lesser degree, IX, did.
I think IMHO it was just TOO stilted...the storyline didn't seem to flow well enough for my liking.

Bizarrely, that's my problem with VII.
Just finished FF1, the original...
It even says out right; "What caused this? No one knows?"
...
...
If there's a more blatent plot hole in any FF I want to see it. I mean, I think I'd have a good grip on the plot if it HADN'T pointed out that it had deliberately not told me everything...
People who think FF7 and 8 invented plot sillinesses for fans to garble over, it's NOT anything even remotely new... I just hope FF2 doesnt do the same thing... I mean, seriously, I got to Chaos and though "At last, Im enjoying this..."
Then... It tells me that I'm not allowed to know the rest... Damnnit...
I find it odd that Mandy Moore won't be voicing Aerith in KHII, but will in Advent Children.
Oh well.
Newbie Steve Burton will reprise his role as Cloud Strife in the English version of the movie, though. No word yet on the other characters, and according to Sony there's still no official release date for the film.
So, we got Mandy Moore, Steve Burton, and Wally Wingbert (Rufus Shinra). Can I vote Mr. T as Barret? ...What? Somebody had to say it.
~Neo
I'm glad Steve is doing Cloud. He rocked my socks off in Kingdom Hearts. I too find it extremely weird that Mandy is doing one and not the other. Moreover I'm shocked that they're voicing both projects at the same time, trying to save money would be the only excuse (noting that the US version of Advent was due out in Jan), but if they're using different Aeirth's (I hate her name. You get beat up by Otaku's for using S and by anti-Japanese for TH) then that can't be right...
Still, Vincent's and Reeve's casting will be important, not for KH2 but DoC.
I was half hoping they would carry Cloud on, he did fit well...
Dont really care about Aeris, but... hmm...
Also, I heard that Dirge of Cerberus is out in Japan, which is odd because I've heard zip all news about it recently...
I'd sort of half expected people to have imported it and provided reviews, but so far only Gamespot has done a feature...
Oh well...
And the theme tune fits Vincent well...
...
Oh,and FF4 will be out in the UK SOOOOOOOOOOOOOON, hopefully..
Oh, and personally Craig I prefer Aeris, because I hate ending words in th.... It just sounds morally wrong
There are reviews of Dirge of Cerebrus. You just need to know where to look. Most of the reviews from the people who imported it are negative calling it a awful action/FPS with terrible controls and a lame major villian. Though it does have some good CGI cutscenes.
Let's see if I can find the 1up Show's review on it also.
Here we go: Episode 14--features the next Tomb Raider game, Dirge of Cerebrus, and more

Does this mean you also call Sephiroth, "Sephiros"?
o-th works... Its a natural english sound, oth... pronounced likk offf...
Ith... in the other hand I cant pronounce easily so i'd say isss, so I might as well spell Aeris because I... prefer it, not because I was given it first but because I find it easier to remember/pronounce/spell/whatever.
I might as well spell her name Aerif, from now on. Because I'm saying it that way anyway.
"Welcome to Earf!"
Air iff...
It sounds more like a quesiton than a name...
Air If?
..
I ddunoo, personal preference i suppose.
...
Also, I need to say it somewhere, I'm off for a week and a half...
Last chance to see the family before Universty
i just re-named her 'Iris', made the game more amusing. oo
Final Fantasy 7 is a whole lot more fun if you name everyone Sephiroth.
..Aerith? What the f-ck? It's an S. o_O
Also LOL Bra I'm so trying that.
JPN: "It's AERITH!"
NA: "It's AERIS!"
GOD: "It's BOTH!
SATAN: "BOOOOF."
GOD: "You sound like such an ass when you say it like that."
Actually, her name is pronounced "Air-is" in both regions, it's just that when Japan use "th" in that particular instance it produces an S sound, which is why they bothered changing it to Aeris.
Kingdom Hearts and Advent will ruin this forever and change it to "Air-if"
What's wrong with pronouncing it "that whiny girl with the pigtail"?

~Neo

Date, box art and content list. Gotta say, I'm surprised that Mena will also be voicing Aerith here. I can't believe Internet lied to me about Moore. Internet is a bastard.
Mr. T is not playing as Barrett.
I have lost what little interest I had with it.
Crispin Freeman is doing Rude.
Life is worth living <3
Done quick past work checks on all of them, and I've got to say, I'm damned well pleased. n___n
I'm so looking forward to what each of them have to offer. X3 *orgasm*
It somewhat ironic that Sephiroth is voice by George Newbern. For those that don't know George Newbern is the voice of Superman in JLU and this movie he voicing another superman execept this one doesn't care about life unlike JLU Superman.
Hmm...can't really see Superman's voice working with Sephiroth....I'd have chosen Cam Clarke, but then I'd just want him to do Liquid's voice with him. 😛
Still, Steven Blum as Vincent <3, one of favourite VA's in the sequel to may favourite game .
i'm curious, i'm currently playing through FF7 and i was wondering how you get omnislash.
from what i understand, you need 32,000 battle points from the Battle arena, but that seems a little weird, since i've been playing the Battle arena after 5 fights i got about 28BP. and i'm supposed to get 32000?
how exactly do you do that?
You need 64,000 BP for Omnislash, 32,000 gets you Championship Belt.
Um, now my memory's pretty rusty but I'm pretty sure you get an exponential amount of BP whenever you continue a fight in the arena, with handicaps playing a part in how the BP's multiplied. Also, you can only get the max amount of BP per try by completing all 8 battles. Obviously, whatever you're doing now isn't going to cut it.
Yeah, and if the 8th opponent is Proud Clod (the boss that Scarlet and Hedgegearthingeyman were piloting) then you get MUCH! BP.
Easiest way of doing Battle Arena, in my experience, is to have Limit Break ready on your way in and use MIME materia constantly, that way you're always performing your limit.
Oh, man, I remember when I was first obtaining Omnislash and how I wasted my free time on getting that.
~Neo
The question is: never mind the US voice cast, will the Western DVD have the original VA track?
how do you get the mimic materia?
I think you need to breed Chocobos until you have either a River or Mountain-bo, then search either of two hidden caves: one on the Wutai land mass (you'll need Mountain-bo) and the other along the strip of thin islands on the east side of the world map (River-bo here). I forget which cave it's in (but I have a strong suspicion it's near Wutai).
I have advent Children on my lap...
I do, I really do.
Havent got time to watch it yet, but I did fit in the reminiscence of FF7, which despite looking good is in japanese. Yes, it's the japanese version of the game with subtitles, which flick through WAY to fast for to read. Plus the small ammount of voices are in japanese
But, the movie looks good, I'll get back to you when I can.
Well since this topic has been bumped, I think it is time for some FFIII hype.
New scans of FFIII for the DS here: www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3177568&postcount=89
Am I the only one excited for this game? This graphical remake reminds me of FFIX which is a good thing. Not only that, but the story has been fleshed out/redone and the chrarcters now have names and specific personalities. Heck this game also comes with Wi-Fi.
I also hope that the original Famicom version is included as an unlockable.
Wow, they're completely redoing FF3? This I did not know. Impressive.
The DVD is now in shops.
Well, a shop, which somehow stole a march on everyone else.
