(Don't know what GameBridge is? Go here.)
So yeah, I ordered a GameBridge recently. It came in the mail yesterday, and I can't tell you how awesome it is. I had some doubts because I heard that some people had sound troubles and the like, but so far it's working flawlessly. I have my Wii hooked up right now with Super Mario Galaxy, and it runs perfectly--no sound desync or anything. I'm even more surprised because I'm running it on a 2.60 GHz Intel Pentium 4 with only 512 MB of RAM and a 5 year old video card. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone--it works for any console that has red/yellow/white composite and/or S-video cables.
I'm thinking of doing a Let's Play thread with it. Don't know what a Let's Play thread is? Be enlightened. Would anyone be interested if I did one of those?
Hmm...now this I want. Been meaning to have my PS2 setup to my computer somehow, if only because my brother is always on 360, and I have games to complete.
If I have a TV tuner - or especially, an HDMI port - would I need this for anything? Seems like I could just hook it up directly and not worry about it.
It basically is a TV tuner, so you're good to go.
Wow, this looks pretty spiffy. What's the picture quality like? I've connected a PS2 to my main PC's cheap capture card and was less than thrilled with the resulting image. But that could be partly because it's an old cheap thing. It's too bad they don't make a GameBridge with HD inputs, although I suppose that would be more demanding on the system.
If you use an S-video input, the quality is just as good, maybe even better, than a standard definition television set. I'm not too sure about the composite inputs, as I haven't tried them, but I've heard that the quality is noticeably worse.
Ah, yeah, I only have composite video cables for my systems (not counting the 360's component HD and VGA cables) because I've never had a TV with an S-video input. Still sounds like it might be work looking into though, as the convenience of being able to use the laptop screen if I went somewhere would be nice. Plus that version with a built-in TV tuner would take care of two things at once, as I've been somewhat interested in having one for a while.
Yeah--however, it should also be pointed out that this is made for XP. There's a way to get it to work for Vista, but it's apparently a long and arduous process.
I'm still on XP anyway (and will be for the forseeable future), so it's all good.
