This is a topic requesting help with the "The Great Owl" mission in Adcance Wars: Days of Ruin.
I haven't actually attempted it, but I want some advice before I attempt it... it just freaking looks hard. @_@; I just barely passed Lin`s Gambit... ( I got a B on it... somehow. )
And please don't suggest I look at one of those youtube walkthrough thingies... I'm trying to get better and copying someone else won't help towards that.
EDIT: What is this? NOONE here plays Days of Ruin?
Come on, I know HSW does... he had an avatar of the characters.

Like I said before,
I'm trying to get better and copying someone else won't help towards that.
I just want general advice... not a complete walkthrough.
Oh, and I started the mission and... I'm doing sort of badly.
When I find the cartridge again (which I seem to have lost somewhere in my less-than organized desk) I´ll give you some hints. 😛
Thanks, I hope you find it...
Turns out my brother had taken it, so that´s why I wasn´t finding it...
After a short internet search I find out this chapter is called "Pulsatrix Assault" in the EU version... yeah, that´s quite a hard one.
Just stay away from the middle part of the field where the bomb drops and concentrate on securing upper and lower paths.
Also notice how the enemy starts out with no airports, so make sure it stays that way, one type of unit less to worry about! Keep your starting fighter/anti-air units in the back, so if one of the enemy flyers comes near they´re dead.
Long-range attacking units are best to slow enemy movement down.
Don´t worry about taking too long to finish this stage, with 33 days I still was able to S-Rank it (311 points).
Thank you!
I brought the Flyers and Anti-airs forward to try and discourage the Bombers from coming in, but I'll just keep them back like you said.
I'm having trouble securing the lower path, though... and the upper path's a no-go because the river's blocking any non-foot soldiers and beneath that is the blast area of the bomb. I geuss I should stop spawning B Copters around anti-airs. Again, thank you.
No problem.
For the upper part I usually just sent the infantries to capture the areas and backed them up with a spare anti-air. When I had the money I also built rockets/missiles depending on which unit the enemy tried to send there.
The lower path is your best way to get into enemy territory.. prepare for a long stall battle. Build bombers when you can. ;D
Bombers? That's a good idea, actually...
I started again and I'm in the middle of a quicksave.
I actually have some tanks and stuff down on the lower path so they can't just send Anti-airs and wipe me out... she has a CO Wartank that I'm trying to wipe out, though.
I could probably use a bomber to hit it for massive damage...
...If I can get past those anti-airs, that is.
