Pre-loaded everything. I don't care to try out Team Fortress 2 (I'm more of a single-player person, or play-with-people-you-know person, not a play-with-people-you-don't person), but Portal and Half-Life 2: Episode Two are both ready to go as of Japan Time tonight. Which is unlikely to be when I first play them, but still.

I've even loaded Portal onto my laptop, with its glorious integrated nVidia 6100 Go. I don't expect it to work very well, but it's something to whet my appetite, certainly.

Orange Box isn't here =(

not out in the EU till next friday to my understanding, so I'm waiting a week and a bit (or maybe two, if the royal mail strikes keep up =/ ) until I can get hold of it. I'm getting the 360 version myself, and if I need to explain why I'm not getting the PC version again then you obviously aren't paying attention!

Hog, TF2 is probably one of the best multiplayer shooters in recent memory, offering a perfect (and I do mean perfect) blend of team tactics and classic run-and-gun gameplay. Nine player classes, each with their own set of rules and tactics, offer an enjoyable experience to FPS fans of every persuasion and skill level. Not to mention each character has more expression and personality built in than the entire cast of Halo. You are really depriving yourself by not giving it a try.

I usually play with my clan every night at 10:00 PM, but if you want to arrange something you can add me to friends using my account name (garethmccall).

Orange Box wheee!!! ...I can't play it. =(

Maaaaaac.

Now I have never played the Half-Life series, but I acknowledge its existance. I've only known about Team Fortress 2 fairly recently (like July/August) but the game looks fun and the character/class videos on youtube are hilarious. I've played/own Star Wars Battlefronts and played a bit of Unreal Tournament at school so I know what its gameplay is like. And Portal I must confess I didn't know about until today...er yesterday now. The game looks awesome, however hypercube physics scare me ever since I watched that one movie on Sci-Fi.

I just finished Portal. That had to be one of the most imaginative final bosses I've fought in quite a while. The ending was great, too (especially the credits song), but was perhaps a bit too... ambiguous?

I noticed, though, that Spoilers (Select To Read): GLaDOS mentioned something about outside forces trying to break in, and that she was the only thing separating them from Aperture Science (as if it mattered, seeing as she killed everyone anyway). This makes me wonder: seeing as it's the Half-Life universe and all... was she referring to the Combine? Or perhaps just those army grunts that you killed all over back at Black Mesa?

EDIT: Return to the Portal website. Name: cjohnson. Password: Tier3. Type in "NOTES" when you log in for a humorous history of Aperture Laboratories.

Honestly, I had no knowledge of the humor portion of portal, so it caught me completely off guard. What a fun game. It was too short, but it could've been 50 hours long and still have been short. Here's hoping maybe there'l be some DLC(and not on the usual Valve timetable).

I played HL2 when it first came out, but I missed Episode One because my computer refused to play it (part of why I'm Orange Boxing it up on the 360, not my PC), so I'm playing through all three of them from beggining to end. I started two days ago, right after I beat Portal, and I'm up to Anticitizen One in HL2.

Team Fortress 2...not sure about it yet. I love the style and everything, the thing is I played the heck out of Team Fortress Classic. Like crazy. I realized the changes made to the gameplay like removing grenades and a bunch of skills helps balance it out, it's just similar enough to the old version to leave me frantically trying to figure out how to toss an EMP grenade when I see someone messin' with my sentry gun.

Although I'm surprised how few of the X-box owners ever played the previous versions of Team Fortress. All the games I played today on Dustbowl, I found myself shouting out directions to my fellow defenders, telling them they needed to be on the opposite side of the map. That I spoke at all is a miracle, as I usually prefer to remain silent in X-box games (half the time I don't even plug in my headphones...I hate voice chat with a passion).

Hey, Orange Box is coming out on PS3. Wiki said that, anyway.

And you're my new favourite for linking that song. <3

I played TF2 last night. It was only a 2-on-2 match with some friends from #srb2fun, so it was pretty sparse, but it was enough to satiate my curiosity about the class types, so.

I kind of like the Soldier and Engineer, right this second...

Weebl's new friend! <3 Warning British swear word included.

Also guys: Do I get The Orange Box or do I put on my Sega colours and get Virtua Fighter 5 and either Sega Rally or Virtua Tennis 3?

I suspect Orange Box will win but better to ask. Keeps the topic going or summat.

Yeah, it did mess up... but I didn't have time to check up on it. Kind of hard to do so when a sudden power outage hits you...

Can't wait to get my hands on this box. I've completed Half-Life 2 before, but never got the chance to play episode 1 and 2, so that should be cool. Also want to play Portal like hell. :)

Well, I saw it for 40 (as opposed to 45) in Sainsbury's. Virtua Fighter 5 was 30. I got The Orange Box.

For some reason Sainsbury's put a sticky blue dot on the read side of the disc, which made me swear at them. A lot.

But the 5 games load up okay, so that was a save. I'm surprised that its all on one disc.

Just completed Portal. Great game with a great ending and final boss. Don't know what I should play next really.

Unless you're looking for some Deathmatch, you're best off going through the Half Life ones in order. 'Tis what I'm doing.

I'm really enjoying this up to now. Portal is one of the most fun and interesting games I've encountered for a while, let down merely by it's short length. I personally think it could have done with 5 or 6 more test chambers. Thankfully the advanced maps were much more challenging, if only for a night. Not started on the least portals, etc challenges yet.

As for Half Life 2, I'll probably have it finished tomorrow morning at the latest. I had it previously on the Xbox, but it's nice to see it running on an upgraded Source engine without the textures dampened due to hardware requirements and the like. I'll be starting Episode 1 immediately after.

Anyone who's reading this and doesn't own this compilation, if you own a good enough PC, a 360, or, when the appropriate verson is released, a PS3, and you have so much as a passing interest in puzzles, shooters, or both, this is definitely a must-buy.

Oh and for the record, I got it for 35 from Amazon. 😯 Slightly let down by delivery times but that's more Royal Mail's fault.

Wooooo. Got the Orange Box yesterday. So far I only play Portal and love it. The game is pretty clever and fun. The final boss battle and the ending song was hilarious. Anyway right now I am playing HL2 Episodes. Hope they are good.

As you may or may not know, somebody made a flash version of Portal. Its fun, but I only got up to level 35. (I am not stumped, its just frustrating how quick you have to be)

I've heard a LOT of conflicting dates, ranging from last month to Q1 2008. Do any of you know when Orange Box PS3 releases?

I don't recall a date being confirmed anywhere; the only thing I remember is that it would be ready 'a few weeks' after the PC/360 versions.

EDIT: Just as an update, i found a mention about it here:

Electronic Arts has confirmed that The Orange Box for PlayStation 3 will be released in Europe next month on 14th December, though Valve has told Eurogamer that it still to-be-confirmed.

The PS3 version is being developed by EA in the UK, and faced a lot of delays and had even slipped into 2008, according to some sources. But fear no more PS3 players ( European players at least ) the Orange box is coming to you next month! So mark you calender.

As the article says, it's uncomfirmed and only mentions Europe, but it's news nonetheless.
