Ever get the feeling Darkstalkers is actually a dead franchise, and ONO just loves making Lulz at it's fans expense? 😛

Salt, meet wound. =(
I personally can't wait for Street Fighter x Tekken. Two of my personal favorite fighters.

Fix'd I never have had the opportunity to play a DS game, and my only real exposure to any of the characters was in Capcom Fighting Evolution and we all know what a waste that game was. v_v I want to truly experience Jedah's over the top gore and should be rated Adults Only attacks and super combos. ^_^
New gameplay video for SF X Tekken, on IGN.com.
So I just bought Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
AND IT IS HAAAAAAAAAAARD. I'm trying to get good enough so I don't get completely blown away online.
I'm using Morrigan/Jun and I looked online for some combos to practice. But even the Beginner combos look daunting.
For instance, in Morrigan's combo after you use the down fierce you're supposed to use her forward fierce afterwards as a launcher but whenever I try to do that I end up Soul-fisting. I know you're supposed to return the stick to neutral position first so that doesn't happen but I'm having trouble doing it fast enough consistently.
Do you guys have any tips or anything you use to make memorizing and executing combos more manageable?

TvC always seemed really beginner friendly to me. Well in terms of pulling off stuff. But I suppose to actually try executing combos and whatnot...it would be tougher. But uhh...let's see this launcher you speak of...and returning the stick to neutral before doing the next isnt something I could help you out on much[i'm a pad user]. 😛 But let's see...
with fighting games repetition is the most important thing. Try breaking the combo into multi-segments. Like for example, first get used to getting the two light attacks consistently and then the special attack. Practice that over and over until you can't NOT do it. Then try the medium attack, into launcher with Super Combo. Practice just that part til near muscle memory. lol Then combine them. You know? But lots and lots of practice. I can't stress the importance of practice.
While I am a pad user, I suppose I might have some advice on getting that launcher of Morrigan's to execute instead of Soul Fist. The instant you input the command for forward fierce and it hits your opponent[if you're a frame kinda guy...within like the first two frames probably] go ahead and do forward fierce. Timing is a HUGE factor in fighters, i've discovered. Probably the hardest thing to get the hang of is the timing of attacks. Hope that helps some CT. Glad to see people playing fighters! Woo hoo!! Has anyone picked up Blazblue Continuum Shift, yet? It is better than sex...
bob-omb. >.>
Thanks for the advice. It does seem to get easier the more I try it so I'll just have to keep on practicing it, I geuss.
No prob dude. And yea practice, practice, practice. =P
When did Jin Kazama turn into such a dick? I haven't played anything Tekken since 3 debuted on PS1 all those years ago, with Jin in place to become the "good" Mishima heir. Asuka is his cousin, correct? Is it that he simply disapproves of her joining the tournaments? Sexism, or just very protective of family?
I always thought Jin wasn't even aware of Asuka being his cousin.
Apparently Namco was always going to turn Jin evil. Plus his evil turn in Tekken 6 turned out to be a cop out anyway.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Cool.
Where is my god damn Soul Calibur V, Namco?
I always thought Jin wasn't even aware of Asuka being his cousin.
Her last name is Kazama. He can't possibly be that dense.
Not much of a Tekken fan, but this plus Tekken X Street Fighter really make up for the piss poor movie. TTT was awesome way back when, though it hasn't aged well.
Maybe Unknown will finally return?
My guess is Jin is just protective of his cousin. But I too kinda got out of Tekken after 3[and then I mean...TTT...but that wasn't canon]. Besides...I don't really see him as a bad guy. It's in his blood. He can't help it. 😛
Lots of new Mortal Kombat stuff.
Another New Scorpion trailer from Gamespot
Looking really really good.
Looking really good indeed. Awesomesauce!
I'm making progress toward becoming competent at Online play in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom but I'm still getting my butt kicked most of the time.
I've learned the combos in those videos and I've been experimenting with other characters besides Jun and Morrigan but I decided to just focus on getting better with them for now since they're my best characters and the only ones I can consistently pull a combo off with online.
Made it a goal to try and practice with them once a day and go fight online for 30 minutes so that maybe I'll eventually get used the lag... I mostly play on ranked and I've made it to around 1,100 BP with 20-something wins. That's probably only because they don't start taking away points for losses until you reach 1,000 BP, I think.
I should to learn how to use Baroques and Assists and stuff in combos... most people I fight know how and since Baroques get more powerful the more red life you use it puts me at a disadvantage since they can beat me into the ground/catch up to my life lead so fast. And assists are great for extending combos so that's some more extra damage...
Actually online play...is usually full of people that have perfected those endless chain combos and just do that. They can be a bother to play. Break 'em outta that rhythm though...and it's gold from there on out. Or atleast in Blazblue that's how it seems to be...since that game is pretty much "Who can initiate a 58 hit combo first?". 😛
But hey man i'm glad you're sticking with it. Lots of people like to just throw in the towel and move on. You'll be more than ready when MvC3 drops, that's for sure. Considering I never even played MvC2 til a few years ago, and MvC1 doesn't translate too well to it, i've gotta dig in deep to understand the fighting/combo system, timing etc. I remember I was going to get TvC awhile back. Never did though. =/
Silly SNK. Clearly you do not want large amounts of money. I can see you have been taking business lessons from Sega.
Where is my god damn Soul Calibur V, Namco?

Now here's a little something: an indie fighting game, developed by westerners, aiming to show the big boys how to perfect the formula for a great technical fighter. Color me interested.
Release Date: TBA (Fall 2011)
Format: Digital Distribution
Platforms: XBLA, PSN (team is currently looking into doing a Steam release, too)
Skullgirls is a fast-paced 2D fighting game that puts players in control of fierce female warriors in an extraordinary Dark Deco world. From Autumn Games and Reverge Labs, Skullgirls uses advanced graphical technology to feature the unique art of Alex Ahad, whose work has appeared in Lava Punch, UDON’s Tribute books, and Scott Pilgrim; in collaboration with renowned tournament champion Mike "Mike Z" Zaimont. Calling to mind old-school arcade fighters – with a high-definition twist – it’s a one-of-a-kind, action-packed competition complete with awesome combos and an intriguing backstory.
Set in the fictional Canopy Kingdom, Skullgirls pits players against ranks of deadly but beautiful opponents in an attempt to control the enigmatic Skull Heart, a mysterious artifact with the power to bestow wishes – but not without a substantial price. Should the soul be less than pure, both the victor's wish and her being shall be corrupted into a living nightmare that haunts humanity. She will be known as the Skullgirl, a monstrous entity of immense power.

As you can see, this game has steadily been gaining some intense hype since it was first officially unveiled (though the game concept has been around since 2006!). What at first look appears to be just another doujinshi fighter seems poised to dominate the fighting game scene in a big way. Even Japan is getting excited (having Castlevania's Michiru Yamane as the game's musical composer must have raised its profile some, ya?). And all this info currently gathered in this post is a culmination of what has trickled out of Reverge Labs for the past few months, now with E3 looming the floodgates are set to open (so I hear).
Be sure to check out the official site's blog as well as the Reverge Labs' blog, because they have excellent behind-the-scenes info on what goes into making a fighting game: whether it be the engine, the animation, the designs, the music, etc.
