So... I shuffled over to my local Wal-Mart one day, and happened to take a look at the DO games. You know, Disc-Only. And I spied with my little eye a game I had been looking for: Morrowind. No Tribunal, no Bloodmoon, just $10 between me and the original PC Morrowind.
When I played it, I was pretty much going O_o. For all intents and purposes, it looked and played exactly like a MMORPG, except that since there was a distinct lack of the multi-player action like of that found in the aptly named MMORPGs, there was instead a much more personal interface and a general graphical/gameplay enhancement. It was an RPG that proved to slap me time and time again as I made mistakes and learned. I learned that the Shadow, no matter the invisibility, was an inferior Sign to take due to its distinct lack of thieving aid. I took the Lady later, and found it satisfying for my non-mage intensive character. I also learned of the reprecussions of stealing. For once, I could not barge into a person's house, rummage through their possessions, and demand where the man with the black cape went. No, this time I was lucky to rewarded with a spear in my gut if I so much as stole a piece of bread on a rich man's table. That is, if he wasn't looking.
I then discovered my skills were inept, and that in choosing random Major and Minor skills, could skew my entire stat increasing rate. Bah, said I.
And to this day(well, like, a week later) I remain in dear Seyda Neen, mumbling like a madman whilst rearranging my stats in new games, and shaking my hand at the evil one known as Fargoth, for he is the Tingle of Morrowind it seems, only with less...green. And with booze in his house. To this day, I have not ventured very far beyond the city, except to see a man fall from the sky and abruptly shatter into pieces. I promptly did the honorable thing and took his stuff, then gave him a proper burial.
...Then proceded to meet the same fate as he as I jokingly tried his Scroll's Spell. I figured the outcome would be such, but it was simply fun to see this.
Edit: Oh, yeah. The point of the topic. Just a general discussion of Morrowind, I guess. =P I'm getting Tribunal and Bloodmoon sometime soon from a guy at my college, so it's good.
I missed the Morrowind boat for some reason. I'll look into Morrowind 2 when it comes out though.
Morrowind 2? o.o I think you mean Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Morrowind was the third game in a series I never heard of until that installment, so... *shrug*
Right, I got the naming designation mixed up with Neverwinter Nights, another boat that I missed.
I have Morrowind for both PC and XBox, only because after a while my mom's comp pretty much died and now would have trouble playing the original Doom (seriously, it really has gotten that bad). However, the XBox version feels quite limited. I think it's a wonderful game and concept, but a lot of elements make it feel a bit broken at times (for me anyway), such as the combat system feeling like you have to be up close to the enemy, then I find you can be a good few feet away to hit 'em with a dagger. I also find the scenary very depressing, a lot of muddy textures and such. Oblivion looks to be sorting these problems thankfully, and I am deeply excited by it ^^.
A side note, most of my greivances are from my most recent experiences on the X-Box version, I may reinstall the PC version on this comp once I've cleared some crap out.
Classic. I bought Morrowind some time ago, the Game of the Year edition for the XBOX, actually. I can't truly compare it too, so I think its a kickarse game.
Gotta get Oblivion when it comes out. ^^
Morrowind is a superb game. I can teach you a trick to make easy money with alchemy, if you want.

Wipe it.
Wipe it.
Been done, to be honest, I don't wanna touch it with a barg pole. Besides, it does what she needs it for, I use mine for games and art ((thought it is in need of some upgrades)).
*messes around with modding*
*turns The Shadow sign's power from Invisibility for 60 secs into Chameleon 100% for 5 secs + Invisibility for 20 secs*
There. Bit better. <_<
hAx!
One time I haxored Morrowind. I stole everyone's megahurtz and got all the secret...codes. I got +100 on everything. Then I won the game and the guy that made it came to my house, and I totally punched him in the balls and he threw up in his mouth a little.
I played THE ELDER SCROLLS 3: MORROWIND for the first time a few moths ago, and I loved it. I think it was one of the best games I ever played. I cheated alot, and of course, used God mode. I then proceeded to steal everything in sight, as well as kill everyone in sight. That resulted in a huge bounty on my head, making it so I couldn't go outside without someone trying to kill me. I then killed them too, and slaughtered everyone in my path, while proceeding to loot and kill. Basically, I turned it into ELDER SCROLLS 3: GRAND THEFT AUTO. I still think they were racist aginst the dark elf though. (joke)
To be quite frank, I found Morrowind didn't live up to its reputation. The ten square miles are impressive, but it's terribly empty, combat is basically slap-fighting and everyone you talk to appears to be part of some information-splurging hive mind rather than having any actual personality.
I hear Bloodmoon was better, but couldn't really be bothered.
Now... NWN.... original game was ok, but the second expansion was excellent. Strange resemblance...
