....but what is your Next-Gen console of choice? I'm really wanting a Wii since it will probably be the cheapest, Nintendo usually has the most family friendly games, and then Nintendo as of late has had a good relationship with the latest releases of the Sonic games like SGC and Sonic Rush. Plus, I think the controller is pretty cool.
Edit: Okay, E3 is over. Now that Wii've seen what each system offers which one will you pick. I'm definately getting a Wii and probably a 360.
PS3 will be too expensive, 360 has nothing I want, and Rev should be cheapest, online out of the box, and is rumored to have free online. So...right now, it's the Rev.
Edit: Oh, and so far, it's by far the best looking of the trio. >_> The other two are ugly.
Xbox 360. Bit bland in terms of games really. But the joypad has been praised.
PS3. Very Ugly. Ruined the controller. Maybe Expensive. But those preview videos. PREVIEW VIDEOS.
Revolution. Most Stylish. Interesting Controller. Interesting download services. Sega are interested in those Nintendo Mega CD 32X. Yeah Baby.
I havent decided.
Revolution and PS3 would be my most wanted, by default. Revolution for more Metroid Prime (and Metroid in general), PS3 for further developments in the Kingdom Hearts series and for its generally wide game market.
Not sure if I'll actually get either, but ultimately the Revolution would be my first choice because I like Metroid that much.
If Kingdom Hearts 3 or FF13 (which already has been annoucned) come out for the PS3 then i'm sure that i'll get it, even more likely if Sonic doesnt appear on the revolution...
I'll get it... or pursuade my brother with all his money to....
X-Box 360: Microsoft have impressive power in their games consoles, but they lack the games to make use of that power. They don't have the gaming experience, and because of this the origional X-Box had about 3 games that were any good, and the rest were utter rubbish and/or could be got on other consoles. They'd have to do something REALLY special to impress me after that.
Revolution: I have a very special relationship with Nintendo...a hate-hate relationship that boils down to the following:
I have a million and five reasons to HATE NINTENDO'S GUTS, and they can all be summed up in one word...Mario.
Need I say more?
PS3: The PS3 may be the most expensive option of the three...true, but it's a small price to pay for power.
The new controler is...wierd. Agreed, but the PS1 controller was so utterly perfect in every way, that I trust Sony to have made the right desision. I fully expect the new controller to be as comfortable as the old, if not more so, and I don't care about looks.
PS3 is tougher to program for than the others...which means that all the games on it will be of a much higher standard! It's what happened on the PS2 imo!
I have been a firm fan of Sony since the very beginnings of the Playstation, and I have had nothing but fantastic and excellent gaming time in response. Put simply, it would take an Earth-shattering event of apocalyptic magnitude to shake my loyalty
Wraith
Probably the Revolution right now. My Dad's already getting the Xbox 360 to follow up his Xbox, so that's covered, and the PS3... well, we'll have to wait for that price point, really. If it's too expensive, I'm not biting; if it's $500, then frankly, I'd revamp my computer for that much. That's about as much as a new, PCI-E mobo, an Athlon64 3500+, a large hard drive, and around a gig of RAM would cost me, and I could arguably go farther with that than with the PS3. Particularly because it's update-friendly. Not enough RAM? Get more. Too little HD space? Get another one. Not enough graphics power? Get a new PCI-E card. Fwee.
Oh, and

LOLno. The gaming standard raises by itself. Tough programming has no impact on that (though it can make it much harder to acheive it).
Xbox 360. It's coming first, it's cheaper than PS3, it has the most games on it that I'm interested in playing, it's the only new console that anyone has had hands-on time with, and the controller is God's controller. That said, all the games on it that I want with the sole exception of DOA4 will be coming out on PC anyways, so I'm not buying any new consoles. Come Christmas, I'm buying a PSP.
I'm not entirely sure which console I want most right now...at the minute, I'm edging towards PS3, if only because of MGS4...there's no games announced for either Revo or the 360 that I'm aware of that particularly catch my interest, especially not as much as MGS4.
I'm going to buy a revolution no doubt, it'll a;most certainly be the cheapest. Online services look kinda cool (What we know about them at least.) Smash Bros. as a launch title...For me it's the only console worth considering getting at launch.
I'd be interested in a PS3, just for the sake of MGS4, but I'm not even considering it until MGS4 is released.
And as for the 360...It's launch titles do not interest me, but I might get one when the prices drop, and some decent games come out.
So in short...Rev all the way. Despite there's a lack of information about it, I'm still pretty interested in it, and will probably be moreso when some more details emerge.
No question the Revolution. First off, Nintendo's first party games are all (for the most part anyway...) awesome, and can warrant buying a system alone. Second are the promise of downloadable first party games. Look up at statement one. That gives you a crap load of awesome games available at launch (Cuz even if they're older games, a lot of them are great, and I doubt anyone has played ALL of them. I want Super Metroid!). Third, the controller, if implemented correctly, can be really cool. True, it can scare away SOME first party support (Its still gonna have a lot, I think) but when I look at my GCN collection, half is like first party, and quarter is Sega who has already said they're sticking with the Revo, and the rest, eh. Fourth, its gonna be the cheapest. That alone is a huge draw. Fifth, I've never loved the Xbox (though that might be because I've almost never played it). It just never really showed me a lot of games I looked forward to. I see no change in this for the next-gen either. Admittedly, the FF series, possible KH series, and MGS4 are draws for the PS3, but still, it'll be more expensive, and I see myself playing more Revo games than PS3.
So yeah, I'd most likely get a Revolution, followed by a PS3, followed by a 360. I'll get a Revolution almost automatically, and perhaps by a PS3 late in its life cycle, like I recently did with the PS2.
Not really sure currently. Of the three, I'm considering either PS3 or Xbox 360 (Nintendo's new console doesn't interest me in the slightest), but I have yet do decide on one. I'm a little curious about the Xbox 360, but I'm leaning toward the PS3 at the moment, mostly because of being a big fan of Sony currently. There aren't really any exclusive games annouced for either that I'm interested in though, so I could go either way. The one thing I definitely want that I assumed would be exclusive to the PS3, Armored Core 4, has also been annouced for Xbox 360, so that's just as much of an option. I kind of like the way the 360's controller looks (with the exception of the stick placement, I've always liked Sony's dual analog setup better), but I've always been a fan of Sony's controllers, so I'd probably need to try both before buying anything. The PS3 controller looks pretty weird currently, but I can't say for sure what I think without using it. (I thought the original PS1 controller looked pretty weird as well before I used it) I read somewhere that the PS3 controller design may not be final anyway, so maybe they'll come up with something better before launch.
I plan to wait until both systems are out, so I can see how things go and if one would better suit my needs than the other. There's no chance that I'll be buying anything at launch anyway, with how expensive these things are going to be. It may be some time before I consider getting anything. That'll also be another factor in the decision of what to get, since it isn't known if the PS3 will cost more than the 360 or not. If the PS3 ends up being considerably more expensive, then I may end up leaning toward the Xbox 360. It'll be a while though, so I expect my current generation consoles (PS2 and GameCube) will continue to see a fair amount of use. Hopefully they'll continue to have decent games released for them for a while longer. (there are already a few coming out that I'm interested in)
I'm waiting for the price to drop, then getting a PS3.
No, wait, I'm waiting for the price to drop, THEN waiting for them to release a Dualshock "Classic".
More than likely, I'd be getting all three Next-Gen consoles, as it hasn't stopped me before with the previous generation. As far as I'm aware, all three consoles will have games which I'm interested in, well save for the Revolution, but I'm pretty sure I'll be getting that one last, anyway. By that time I will know what games are coming out for it.
The cheapest out of the ones that have Sonic on.
I'm waiting for the price to drop, then getting a PS3.
You'll be waiting a while, then, because PS3 is most likely going to hit US markets late next summer and Sony has never done a price drop in the first year of a console's life cycle. You're looking at spring 2007 there.
Without a doubt the Revolution. Then probably sometime in '07 the PS3. Let's see Revo: great 1st party games(IMO), downloadable classics, online play, a weird yet attractive controller, and tons of other stuff i'm sure we'll find out about later. And the PS3: Armored Core 4(with supposed online play which surely enough ensured my trust in choosing this system) and Sonic Next-Gen(which I hope will eventually be announced for Revo). For some reason i've yet to really even take notice of the 360, but with the five hundred people(probably near accurate too lol) I know at my school getting it, i'm sure i'll be playing it soon after its release.

Those aren't exactly valid reasons. Nintendo has yet to show us a single title for it, those "downloadable classics" won't be free, online play is nothing new, good looks do not a good controller make, and "tons of stuff we'll find out about later" is just another way of saying "vapourware". You'd have been better off just saying "I'm buying the Revolution because I'm a Nintendo fanboy", because that's a much better reason than "I'm buying Revolution because its controller is shiny".

Super Smash Bros. and Metroid Prime 3. Not much? Sure, not much, but given how enjoyable the series has been so far...
Fixed.

Has online play officially been announced for AC4 on the PS3? I've only heard speculation for online on the PS3 so far, but it has been confirmed that the Xbox 360 version will support Xbox Live. Don't see why the PS3 version wouldn't support online play as well (unless it ends up being for the same reason the current games don't), but last I'd heard it hadn't been confirmed yet. (could be my info is out of date, though) Online play isn't too big of a deal to me, but it would be nice to have, so hopefully both versions get it. (since I'm currently leaning toward the PS3 version, depending on how things go once both consoles have been released)
Yes Cyke I am a Nintendo fanboy...mainly because they are always the underdogs though. I used to hate them, lol. Anyway, about Armored Core 4 for PS3...I think I might've gotten my stuff mixed up, because it is online for Xbox 360 and the people at the Agetec boards were assuming that meant online for PS3 as well, so no I don't think it's been confirmed....yet. And Cyke...for a Nintendo console online play is a big thing(as sad as that is).
X-Box 360, it's out first, I have my pre-order, I have the money, and it's got Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Dead or Alive 4 and Kameo on release, plus I know more about it than the other two, and it's future titles have my interest, especially Fable 2 which has had no information released about it, but what can I say other than I loved the original. ^.^
However, in the future and when I have the money, I plan to buy both the Revolution and PS3. I have high expectations of Nintendo, and I love their games, so I'm hoping they deliver.
And as for the PS3? Metal Gear Solid 4. Few other titles interest me at the moment, with Heavely Sword being a distant second, and unless Devil May Cry can do something amazingly different but just as exciting, it's currently in my mild interest.
Quote:
it's got Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion ... on release
Skeptical. It's definitely not a launch title in the US, so it's likely not going to be one in Europe, either.
it's got Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion ... on release
That's coming to PC at the same time as, if not before, the 360.
I believe it's on the launch list, it was on the list shown to me at GAME anyway, however, things change, things are delayed, but so far I haven't heard anything against it, and I'm hopinh there isn't ^^;;.

So you like Nintendo because nobody else likes them?
Wow, that's gotta be one of the worst reasons I've ever heard for being a fanboy. And I've heard some pretty lame ones before.

They weren't the underdogs during the NES-SNES era.
Quote:

True, which might be why I like them now. They were battling with Sega back then and now since Sega is gone, all I really have is Nintendo now. ;_; And yea Wonder I know it's lame...
I was gonna do that thing where you quote soem sentances and explain to the people why they suck, but I don't got the time.
MGS4= WIN
MGS4 = PS3
PS3=WIN
Forgot to mention this.
Super Smash Bros. and Metroid Prime 3.
It kind of hurts the whole "Revolution" thing when the only games it has are sequels.
MGS4= WIN
MGS4 = PS3
PS3=WIN
Flawless logic. It worked so well last time:
MGS2 = WIN
MGS2 = PS2
PS2 = WIN
Good times. I remember downloading and scrutonising those videos with drool on my mouth. Good thing I got a PS2 just to play MGS2, otherwise I would have missed.... umm... Kingdom Hearts... and... *brain freezes up*

...and the Armored Core series, the Gran Turismo series, the Mega Man X series, Mega Man Aniversary Collection without backwards controls (although that's also out for Xbox now), the good version of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, etc.. Several other games that either wouldn't be available or wouldn't be as good could be thrown in if you were doing a specific GameCube-PS2 comparison.

That is a good reason to support a Formula 1 team (Minardi RIP) But not really a good reason to buy 100-200 gaming machine really. A good reason is to say they do make the best console games. But that does sound fanboyish really. But they do... Zelda: Wind Waker, Mario Sunshine, Wario Ware and more are some of the most fun games out there. The only reason why I wouldn't get a Revolution is if (a) The controller turns out to be rubbish or (b) No one else uses the default controller other than Nintendo. Two reasons.
(Shrugs)
X-Box 360: hasn't annnouned anything interesting that isn't also coming to PC, as Cyc said. Upgrading my PC would therefore be a better investment.
Revolution: I have no interest in Nintendo sequals. Unless they get pehnomenal third party-support, I personally am unlikely to ge the thing.
I accept Nintendo make good games, they've just never quite appealed to me enough.
PS3: has one game announced that vaguely interests me: Devil May Cry 4, although I'm dubious about even that. I'm also unconvinced about the controller. However, I should be able to use my PS2 controller with the thing, and getting one would allow me to trade in my PS2 and regain some money.
Other options:
PSP: has no game on it that interests me, bar possibly Lumnines. Everything else just seems to be a chronic case of ports, sequals and clones.... and that really, really doesn't motivate me, pretty graphics or no.
DS: Sonic Rush will have to be pretty darn special. If so, I might just get one, but if not....
Upgrading my PC: alternately, I could do this, allowing me to enjoy Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 at higher levels of detail and framerate, and letting me run FEAR or Thief 3 at all.
Games I'm really looking forward to: are all PS2 or pc games, with the exception of one game for the GBA.
So... on balance, I think I'll upgrade my PC and not care until a year or two has passed, by which time the consoles should have dropped in price and might actually have acquired one or two things I care about.
Personally, I'm not that convinced we need prettier graphics stuck onto what may be effectively the same games, anyway.
Im getting the Revolution the day it comes out. Just as soon as i get home, I'm playing it.
I might get the Xbox 360.. if that Pepsi bottle cap wins it for me 😛

None of the above appeal to me. I stick by the fact that in my 3 years of owning a PS2, I've only had 4 games which appealed to me, MGS2/3, Spider-Man 2 and FFX.
That said, the Cube didn't do any better with only the Sonic ports and MGS:TTS.
*Misses the good old days where I had a selection of 5 or more games which I actually LIKED*

(Poke) Kingdom Hearts?
(poke again)
Viewtiful Joe?
(pokes thrice)
Disgaea? Katamary Damacy?
Europe only got We ♥ Katamari, actually.
Still, if nothing on the market appeals to Craig, one must wonder why the aforementioned four games DO appeal to him, while everything else doesn't.
He's always said, he plays for story and is a Spidey fan, a good reason as any ^^.
I myself have found more enjoyment out of my 'Cube, with Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker, Tales of Symphonia, MGS:TS, Viewtiful Joe, Sonic Mega Colledtion, Soul Calibur 2, Skies of Arcadia Legends, F-Zero and Animal Crossing, I find myself returning to play my 'Cube far more often than my other consoles.
XBox 360 looks killer, but I won't be getting any next-gens for a while. DS for Christmas, yo.
Quote:

Actually, we're still waiting for it.
(Mutter)
However, Craig has in fact been knwon to say that the only PS2 game he really cares about it Kingdom Hearts 2. I was simply jogging his memory...
If I were going to list PS2 games he ought to care about, it'd be many more...
(Returns to Resident Evil 4- shiny edition)
Today I've decided that I won't be getting the Xbox 360, at least strait away. After much thought I decided I would rather focus on my current consoles and PC than shell out for a complete new console. Hopefully I'll be getting a job soon too, so I'll have some income, but until next year at least, I will not be getting the Xbox 360.
I'm looking forward to the new information on the Revolution too, which is runoured to be announced on December the 2nd, so I'm keeping an open mind ^^.
Yeah. Kingdom Hearts... forgot that, I'll also buy Katamari when it comes out for sheer curiosity and a need to be in on the joke, but aside from that *shrugs*
Resi 4 would be the first main RE game I've skipped, and that's only because it can be completed in under 3 hours. As good as MGS3 was, the ability to complete in 2 and a half hours made it get old within 2 weeks.
I'd like, for once, to play a game with more than a month's playability and not have the majority of it being levelling up...
Quote:

It can?
I've been playing for over 2 hours and barely got anywhere...
Sure you don't mean "under 30 hours?"
Nope.
From GameFAQS Speed Run FAQ
The speed run I listed above was done in Professional Mode. Here's my
clear time:
HIT RATIO: 29%
ENEMIES KILLED: 515
TIMES KILLED: 0
CLEAR TIME: 2 HOURS 4 MINUTES 5 SECONDS
That alone makes me not want it. It was bad enough I can complete RE2 in 1hr 45min without next gen games being no longer.
Code V remains the best of the series...
Craig, people can beat Half-Life 2 in two hours on the hardest difficulty, and it took me around 20-or-so to do it the first time, on EASY. Trust me. Speedruns are not accurate ways to gauge first run-throughs.
I'd rent it, anyway. It's really supposed to be the best in the series as of now, IIRC - yes, better than Veronica.
Hmm... well if it's cheap after Christmas I miiiiight get it, but seriously, MGS3 promised +7 hours and I completed it first time in 4hr30 and all other times in 3 hours or less. I had one done within 2 hours when I did my Big Boss rank run, and that was my 4th playthrough.
I get through games insanely fast and I rarely go back to them afterwards. It's a waste for me, and plus the RE storyline isn't as appealing as it used to be, this seems to start up a whole new plot line with the new company and have Wesker and Wong for the fans. Not that the RE storyline was excellent, but dangit, the continuity (once they started rewritting and filling in the gaps) was sound and every installement added more to the mix; this new one from what I've read has nothing to add to the existing continuity and just adds to it as a self-contained plot. The charm of the ones I played before were that they were all so tight and added to eachother in great ways, Veronica making the original Mansion make sense and explaining Umbrella while RE2 fleshed out the organisation's activities and why S.T.A.R.S were sent in and such, RE3 updated us on what happened to the original cast after the mansion and how the town became infected (hell, I was tempted to buy Outbreak for the rats eye view of Birkin's assault).
Vernoica was the odd one out, not being in Racoon City, but it did tie up Claire and Chris, let us in on the Wesker scenario (and hey, I bought mainly for the exposition disc "The Wesker Report" anyway) and gave us a detailed overview of Umbrella's founders, history and how the Spencer Mansion came into being.
Zero was crap. I regret buying it. But Birkin and Wesker's pasts being revealed was a nice enough addition to the continuity.
Now it's not even Umbrella.... it's... well. Not exciting to me. It's just another horror game with a few familiar faces.
