Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in time is being remade with updated graphics according to the screenshots below. The game will be available for Xbox Live, and they're working on making it available to the Wii.

Here's some more info on the game:

  • The game is set up and directly taken from TMNT Turtles in Time. [*]Right now it's only going to be for Xbox Live, but they're working on bringing it to Wii (Virtual Console?). [*]It has the same music as the old game. [*]Only the levels "Alleycat Blues" and "Skull and Crossbones" were playable. [*]The only difference noticed was the bosses for the "Skull and Crossbones" is Tokka and Rahzar (unlike the original, which had Bebop and Rocksteady). [*]For Alleycat Blues the boss is still Metalhead. [*]The game is basically Turtles in Time with new graphics - Awesome! [/list:u:611e183910]Source

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!?!

Oh Christ... I don't think I approve of this. The new graphics don't have the same charm of the original sprite-based artwork. I mean, I need to see more for a proper evaluation... but right now I'm not as happy as I should be. :

lulz @ 'source'. Might want to fix that.

HA! One of my all-time favorites. Not sure why they chose to do new graphics...or make it an XB exclusive. That deserves a pistol whip. Who ever had that idea. This is a Konami game, correct? They have no exclusive rights with M$ do they? But wow...this is very good news. The turtles...my beloved turtles...making their way out of the sewers.

*passes out*

Edit: Give me admin rights damn it! 😛 Here's a link.

So is this the same as the TMNT Arcade game I already have on XBLA or was there differences between that and Turtles in Time?

If Rocksteady and Bebop aren't in the game, then that means this is actually a remake of the arcade game, so aside from redone graphics, I don't think there'll be a difference.

I already have the SNES title, myself, so I won't be looking much more into this.

Turtles in Time is a direct sequel to Konami's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game. Came out in the arcades first as TMNT 2: Turtles in Time, and was later ported to the SNES (with added/remixed stages/bosses/content) as TMNT 4: Turtles in Time due to it being Konami's fourth Turtle game on a Nintendo console. I believe about a year later they ported the basic engine to the Genesis but made up an all-new plot and new levels as TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist.

It sounds exciting that they are remaking this game, which is arguably the most fun, interesting and attractive of its genre, but the graphics are such a huge part of its charm that this sounds like it may not be as good as the original.

Also, if Tokka and Rahzar are at the pirate ship, who's the mini-boss of the technodrome? And will the prehistoric boss be Slash (who was cool) or that pile of mud (which is not)?

Ahh, right, may pick this up then. I remember loving Hyperstone Heist, but only ever rented it.

Who's the classy broad? She looks kinda like Jessica Simpson. Anyway, nice game remake and all that. I remember playing Turtles In Time back in the day, man. Good s**t!

Everything seems to suggest a direct remake of the Arcade version, so there won't be a Technodrome level like in the SNES version. Also no Slash, enjoy your Cement Man.

Finally, I can play this 4-player style at home. I wish the classic, unaltered version would be available too, and that they'd do the same for Sunset Riders, but this will do.

Unnecessary remake is unnecessary also it's unlikely to ever hold the charm of being able to throw a pixelated foot clan soldier into the screen.

XDXD! Yea really though...throwing the Foot at Shredder was so cool way back then. Wow...but hey...a port of the SNES would ne what you're looking for then, Vec. And yea...Slash was awesome. I never made it too far in the arcade version so this'll be good for me I think.

Slash was indeed awesome.

Kinda iffy on this. The graphics were fine as is. Well, cool for those who haven't had the chance to play such a classic brawler.

I'm curious who's making it. Konami made the original, but I thought they lost the TMNT license a couple years ago.

Yea it is Konami. Didn't realize they lost the TMNT rights, though. That's no good. >_< Honestly...I jsut want a SNES port...they better as hell do it too. Oh and Rishi...the classy broad...it's not Jessica Simpson...obviously it's April O'Neill. The real one. Because she[i/] does exists!

*fantasizes about the April O'Neill from TMNT II and III*

Well, sure Konami lost the license years ago when Turtlemania fell to the wayside. But they've since got the rights back thanks to the popularity of the newer animated series, and had already pumped out some games (two of them, Battle Nexus and Mutant Nightmare, had unlockable versions of the two arcade games built into them).
But Ubisoft also has rights to produce games based on TMNT (the newer CGI movie version) so I'm not exactly sure what's going on there.

But I'm going to have to assume that one way or the other, Konami is involved in the remake, in some capacity.

Yea Konami's gotta be involved atleast for the port of the original if anything. And I remember Battle Nexus and Mutant Nightmare. I was so gonna get one of them, just to unlock the arcade games. 😛 While on the subject of these games...are they good? They look pretty fun, and I do remember lots of talk about them.

HOLD THE PHONE.

Looks like I was a bit hasty in my presumptions. Seems even the remake devs think Slash was superior to Cement Man.

Still missing the Technodrome level though, going by the list in that video.

XD! *is holding the phone* Now what? lol But wow...that is like Ana Beatrix Barros as a video game. Thanks for that link, dude.

P.S. Poor Cement Man...this is how super villains are born...being ignored throughtout their lives...they just want a little love.

P.P.S. Slash rocks so hardcore!
