FF7 news?!

Meh, so it's just a rumor so I'm taking this with a HUGE grain of salt but supposedly Square may have a big announcement in store for FF7 at their private party thingy in August.

If this rumor is true (Screw FF7 and give me FF13 info), FF7 remake on the PS3. I bet on it.

I thought they said they were too busy with FFXIII and other projects, so if there was any chance for Nomura to do it, it would be after those ones were done. I wouldn't expect it and would be shocked it was true.

Considering how good Crisis Core is, I wouldn't call it milking, a high budget title on an unpopular handheld system is quite a risk, but they made it more popular because of that.

(Seriously though, is it really milking the cash cow if it costs a lot to make?)

I'll wait and see what it is, I don't see them remaking FFVII any time soon, but then, I though SFIV wasn't gonna happen too.

Oh I never hated on Crisis Core, I've heard it to be quite the decent game but FF7 is still the holy cow of Square and they're willing to risk money on the franchise because in many people's minds, it's still one of the top 5 greatest games of all time.

They already admitted long ago that the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII would be a project that would continue for a few years... so yes, always expect something FF7 related from Square-Enix. Furthermore, Dirge of Cerberus left a pretty big matza ball hanging out there regarding the future of the franchise, don't think they're not interested in continuing that plot thread to its end.

oO...I need to play the rest of the FFVII Compilation, since they're insistent on evolving this story to some weird random end. I've only played Dirge and watched ADVENT, so yes, Crisis seems fun, but I'm not even sure what its about....

I haven't play Dirge yet due to lack of interest, however Crisis Core is about Zack before the events of FFVII, and shows his relationship with Aeris/Aerith as well as his mentor.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who didn't play or like FFVII, but to anyone who did like it then it's worth trying.

I only need to play Crisis Core. Whenever I get a PSP, that will be the first game I get.

Then that means you're recommending it to quite a bit of people...=p

Hehe, true, I'm sure most people who did like it have probably picked it up, or plan to.

It's better than Advent Children at least.

::Smack:: Don't talk bad about Advent Children; Robobotnik. David Bowie will eat your dreams if you do >>

No chance, David Bowie has no power over me! >=O

Well...except in Pretty Things...and Life on Mars...and Under Pressure....but that's besides the point! >=O

And Advent Children isn't bad, it's just not a good story, with no real character development, just a stylish action flick with stunning CG, which isn't exactly what I wanted. 😛

Jeez, if they ever remake FF7, I would be satisfied if they just updated the graphics, arrange the music, release a better translation, give the characters more unique parameters so they won't feel like clones(other than their limit breaks), and avoid referencing anything FF7 related that was released after 1997.

A better translation and graphics would be all that I'd care for. Honestly, I must have tried playing FF7 about 3 times in the last four years or so and have given up halfway through Disc 2, because I haven't got a sodding clue what is going on in the story.

Square makes no sense. If they would just go ahead and get an FF7 remake made, they would make tons of money, no matter what system it was on...

I just want a new, good console FF game. u_u

I'd like to see what they could make FF7 into on the PS360. o.o

It would make even less sense for them to develop a FF7 remake on consoles before completing FF13. Which leads to my next comment...

Judging the renewed success the PSP is doing in Japan and how dead the PS360 is there, I could see them putting a FF7 remake on that handheld before the PS360. Bet on it!

Considering that a single UMD might be enough to hold the entirety of the original Playstation version of Final Fantasy 7, I doubt a graphical upgrade would require 3 UMDs, much less 20. To be completely honest, I would rather see a PSP remake over a Playstation 3 remake as I prefer my gaming portable, even if the game remained multi-disk.

The joke wouldn't have worked anyway since PSP games that look nicer than FFVII and some contained several FMVs even in early days of the PSP.
