Welcome to the production blog for the upcoming animated movie based on the classic Konami video game, Castlevania III: Draculas Curse. In the coming weeks and months this will be your source for exclusive behind-the-scenes news and information on the production. We have a great creative team in place with award winning writer Warren Ellis working on the script and Eisner Award winning artist James Jean set to art direct and begin visual development in February. Check back here often for posts from Warren, James, and other members of the production team.
So apparently it does exist (I only knew of the Paul Anderson live-action movie), it's based on what arguably is the best non-Castleroid entry in the franchise, and the writer has started a blog on the production for the films. Though, it seems the the 'hardcore' Castlevania fans are already giving him a hard time about certain changes he wants to make (for one: a serious lack of DaNasty pirate action, though he makes a good point as to why).
I can see he's serious about doing this his way. I can also see that the 'real' Castlevania fans are going to drive him to the brink. Also... he's a bit of a pompous @#%$, isn't he?
*shrugs* Maybe you have to be.

Rondo of Blood? 😛
Castleroid? How presumptuous.
It's Metroidvania. METROID-VANIA. Got it memorized?
First goes first.
Semantic nonsense.

Oh no you don't, I slipped in arguably for that very reason!
CV fans call them Castleroids... or IGAvanias...
Warren is a great writer and he'll do justice to my fav franchise.
Never played Castlevania, any of them, but this piques my interest. Would the movie be a good way to get intro'd into the series?
Probably not.
Movie adaptations of video games are infamous for being wildly counter to most, if not all, established canon.
Warren has gone out of his way to make this As close to canon as possible. It's not like the actual game had much story anyway So as long as it's Trvor, Syphia, Alucard, and eventually Grant going in and fighting Dracula you've got the gist.
