Two countdowns. Thoughts? Theories?
First link mentions Takao Miyoshi and Sega. Takao is a member of Sonic Team and one of the main minds behind Phantasy Star Universe. The pixelated mushroom is obviously lifted from the NES classic Super Mario Bros. except for the altered palette. When you click the mushroom, it plays a jingle I can't identify but sounds very similar to the SMB 1-UP jingle. There's also the issue of the "pole" in the URL.
Second link is a floating, archaic-looking clock with Triforce-like symbols instead of numbers. As the clock ticks all the way around, it stops just before the 12:00 position, then begins to wind back one full rotation before continuing normally again. Also, it should be noted that Marvelous Entertainment is best known as the developers of the Harvest Moon titles.
Does the link to
mean anything? You get it when you click on the U in Produce on the first link. All very mysterious. I'm sure that whenever it's all announced, there will be a whirlwind of announcements and then be forgotten just a quickly (Unless, you know, they are something MAJOR).
What Gyser said. These games will not get the attention it probably deserves.
Of course, it would be funny if ME was making a Zelda title. lol
But all we know right now from Gyser's link is that it's a game DS.
Hmmm this is interesting. As for Marvelous Entertainment though...they also published NMH!! Wooo hoo!! Not that, that is significant at all. =P
Just going to say, in the first URL (pole.sega.jp) the T in Takao is clickable, p in produce, the c in coming soon and the Sega logo.
I could click that Sega logo all day. =)
Viral marketing is really popular these hey? I would have thought after Kojima's metal gear joke we'd all be over stuff like this by now.
As for speculation, it is obviously not Shenmue 3 so i dont care.
Didn't Famitsu spoil Let's Tap also?
Seems sort of interesting, but nothing to get worked up about.
I thought the mushroom jingle sounded like an 8-bit version of the Chaos Emerald jingle.
Yeah, this'll be forgotten about pretty quickly. Darn you pessimism.
Huh...well...maybe worth checking out if it's good, but otherwise it seems like a lot of fuss over nothing.
Also, why do companies still do these countdowns in Japan when Famitsu always seems to spoil it a day or two before it ends? I mean, why not make a countdown to coincide with the Famitsu release?
And the sound of the Nintendo 'hardcore' (when in actuality they only pay attention to Mario or Zelda games) whimpers in unison
