Just being nosy but post what consoles you own or owned in order and what year you got them.
Me:
SNES (1994)
Commodore 64 (1995)
Atari 2600 (1995)
Playstation (1997)
Gameboy Color (2000)
Xbox (2002)
Gamecube (2003)
DS (2005)
Nintendo 64 (2006) (Don't Ask)
Wii (2006)

Don't have a clue what year, but I could probably pin down the order in general.

Mega Drive
Playstation
Gameboy Colour (A battery leaked in it so it doesn't work now!)
N64
GBA (2 of these, one was my sis' but she never used it)
PS2 (Has had to be replaced once due to apparently laser failure)
Gamecube
Xbox
DS

In related topic, 360 is most likely to be my next console purchase, within the next 8 months, likely followed by Wii.

  • NES (1989, presumably; at least, it was supposed to be my first birthday present; since long lost)
  • Game Gear (I forget when, but I think it was a birthday)
  • Genesis (Christmas 1994 I think; at least, Sonic 3 was out by then, because I got the first three main games and Spinball with it, as well as the majority of my Genesis collection)
  • Sega Saturn (Birthday 1997/1998, I think - definitely on its tail end; got a lot of my collection with it, but I think that by now, most of my collection came from eBay post-2004)
  • Game Boy Color (Christmas 1998, Pretty positive; Zelda DX came out in Europe the first year I got it, which I know to be true because that's the version I own - and it was my first Zelda game, to boot)
  • Sega Dreamcast (Christmas 1999)
  • Game Boy Advance (Boxing Day 2001)
  • Nintendo GameCube (2002)
  • NES (around 2003 or so; eBay replacement of the lost one mentioned above)
  • Nintendo GameCube again (2004 I guess; used, and replaced my old one since it was giving me a lot of DREs)
  • Nintendo DS (Bday 2006)
  • Nintendo Wii (Launch day)
  • And those are just the consoles I, myself, own. Counting others in my family:

  • Game Boy (mother's, who knows when she got it...)
  • Game Boy Color (sister's, she lost it - and our copy of Pokmon Yellow - after not too long)
  • Microsoft Xbox (father's, launch day)
  • Sony PlayStation (sister/brother's, don't remember the year, but I used it to play Final Fantasy VII, Symphony of the Night and some Mega Man games on)
  • Game Boy Advance (brother's, just kinda arbitrarily won it at a grocery store)
  • Microsoft Xbox 360 (father's, launch day)
  • Nintendo DS (brother's, Christmas 2005)
  • Microsoft Xbox (sometime during 2006, replacement for our old one which was riddled with DREs)
  • Nintendo DS (sister's, her 2006 b-day)
  • Microsoft Xbox 360 (family's, Christmas 2006 - yes, two 360s...)
  • Many many many many many many computers. I've lost count. My current one I built during Summer 2006, though, and it's the most gaming-able computer of the lot, by a long shot.

Well, we've had an NES since before I was born. Other than that, I only remember a few years:

    Sega Genesis (Christmas 1995)
    Sega Genesis/32X/CD combo
    Sega Game Gear
    Game Boy
Game Boy Color (my siblings and I all had one eventually)
    Game Boy Advance (brother)
    Game Boy SP (brother)
    Nintendo 64 (1998)
    Nintendo Gamecube (2002)
    Nintendo DS/DS Lite (me, 2005/brother, 2007 respectively)
    Playstation 2 (2003)

We had to replace our Gamecube, N64, and PS2 in November 2004 when some idiots broke into our house and stole the money-making systems and a good chunk of our games. Thankfully, that's all they went after and not more valuable things. But anyway, there you have it.

Can't remember the years so I'll just list the order I got them.

Master System II (several times due to my brother breaking them.)
Mega Drive (Both original and 2, though the former was more recent.)
Gameboy (original brick one, twice due to losing the first somehow.)
    Nintendo 64
    Playstation
    Gameboy Colour
    Dreamcast
    Gameboy Advance
    SNES
Gamecube (both purple and black, the latter I got with MK: DD and the Zelda collector's disc, said console has since been sold to a friend.)
    Playstation 2
    X-Box
    Gameboy Advance SP
    Sega Saturn
    Nintendo DS (original)
    X-Box 360
    Wii

Still plan on getting a PSP, PS3, DS Lite, and Neo Geo Pocket Colour, someday at least.

This is an approximate order, but it should be pretty accurate. I have no idea what year some of these were purchased in, but I put down the ones I do know.

All of these systems are still currently working.

    Atari 2600
    NES
    SNES
    GameBoy
    GameGear x2
    Nintendo 64 x2
(one purchased used with a few games in 1998 or 1999 from someone we knew, the other received by my brother on Christmas 1997, and later given to me a few years ago)
PlayStation (Christmas 1997, has some trouble now, but still works if you stand it on it's side)
GameBoy Color (around 1999, I think)
PlayStation 2 (2002, starting having trouble reading discs in late 2005, repaired it sometime in 2006 out of bore

    PS2 Slim (2004)
    GameCube (April 2005)
    Xbox 360 Premium (June 2006)

    Consoles I own:
    *The original Game Boy (1989)
*Super Nintendo (1990/1991-one of those years)
*Sega Genesis (About 1993-given to me and my sis by our older cousin)
    *Nintendo 64 (1998
    *Playstation 1 (1998
    *Playstation 2 (2001)
*Gamecube (2005--yes, I got it rather late)

Consoles I don't own, but have played:
    *NES (1989-1990)
    *Game Gear (Mid-90's)
    *Dreamcast (1999)
    *XBox (2005-2006)
*Game Boy Color/Pocket (Around the late 90's)
    *Game Boy Advance (2005)
    *Nintendo DS (2006-ish)
    *XBox 360 (2007)

I'm trying to get both a DS and Wii now. Naturally, I am not happy I have yet to get a chance to play with the Wii. :(

Systems I have owned (those no longer are in red)

-NES (I'll throw a rough guess and say 89... It was my uncle's, but since Grandma babysat me, I got to play it)

-SNES (I remember my uncle sent in to get the free copy of All Stars... So 1992/93 maybe? I borrowed it a couple times, then it was lost... I got it before Xmas 96, since I got DKC3...Gave it to my cousins when I got a N64)

-GameBoy (Christmas 96... Joint effort between aunts and uncles) Clear ftw m/... Joshua and the Battle of Jericho and SML2 were my first games)

    - GameBoy Color (August 15th, 1999) B-day present to myself. This was the first console I bought by myself. Also grabbed SMDX

-N64 (Black Friday 99) My uncle (same who owned the NES and SNES) helped me buy the DK64 Bundle. I only ever owned DK64 and Pokemon Stadium for the system :crazy

-GBA (June 11, 2001) Picked up mine on launch day along with my SMA:SMB

-GameCube (November 18, 2001) Got Rogue Squadron II along with it too...

-GBA SP (Fall 2003) - Traded in the GBA and tons of games for this...

-DS (November 21, 2004) Got it along with SM64DS

-NES (Fall 2005) Bought one off of eBay

-DS Lite (June 11, 2006) Traded in my old DS and my GC for it

-Wii (November 19, 2006) Stood in line for a whole 30 minutes. Picked up Zelda <3

    Super NES (in my closet)
Genesis (the last version it came out, in my closet)
NES (somewhere in my grandma's house in Peru)

Consoles I played (not counting displays in stores) but that I don't own:

    Atari (don't remember what version)
    N64

Gameboy Colour - Some year I dunno it came with Pokemon Yellow. 2000?
    GameCube - 2004
    DS Lite - 2007

The GBC is yellow but the GC and DS are black

lol I'm some kind of Ninty fangirl :x

My sister has a PS2 though. The slimline version. She only uses it to play DVDs!

I'm editing to tell you that my parents wouldn't let me buy a console to the turn of the millenium, which combined with my lack of job accounts for my console shortage

    - Master System (2 of them, since one apparently broke and then my grandma gave me a new one, but just one piece was actually broken)
Both thrown away long ago by my parents as soon as they discovered I could emulate all games I owned.
    - Game Boy Color
Bought just for Pokmon. I only owned Pokmon games for it.
    - Game Boy Advance
Again, bought for Pokmon and possibly Sonic. Ended up rarely using it, since I started emulating and all that.
    - XBOX
We got it last September as a gift from our cousins from Brazil; they had bought an european XBOX and upon realizing it didn't work over there, they gave it to us.
    - Nintendo DS
Got it this year, absolutely love it and play every day (else my flowers die and my neighbours move).

    Future:
    - Nintendo Wii
As soon as school is over I'll buy this along with Twilight Princess and Secret Rings. :)

Commodore 64: (1988) Go go Chucky Egg, Jet Set Willy and New Zealand Story! At my mom's house and I've not seen her in many years.

Mega Drive: (1991) The divorce Christmas present is always the best, both parents buy their child's affections, dad won with Sonic. Still works, but no controllers which do.

NES (1993): With Mario 3! We didn't bother buying any other games for it, it was like 20 at a boot sale. Heaven knows where it went.

Mega CD (1994) Sonic CD for the win! Currently the only one of my 3 Mega CD's which still works, but the save feature doesn't work. Second one when my brother moved out.

Amiga (1994): For Flashback and Monkey Island, baby. Disappeared ages ago.

Mega CD 2 (1995/6): It was cheap and I was pissed with the save function failing. My sorta-sister broke the CD tray.

Amiga CD32 (1996): Useless waste of space, I dunno where it is and not upset in the slightest.

Playstation 1 (1997): With Tomb Raider. Still works to this day and my prefered console for MGS and Resident Evil 2/3.

Gameboy Pocket (1998) : Specifically bought for Pockeymans. Lost it when my dad broke up with step-mom 2.

Dreamcast (2000): Sonic Adventuuuure! It still works.

Playstation 2 (2002): Metal Gear 2, here we... what?! What was that!? REFUND! RE---ooo Kingdom Hearts? Half-broken at the moment, still runs... barely.

Gamecube (2003): Bought for Sonic Adventure 2. Currently with our queen.

Gameboy Advance SP (2003): Bought to put Chao from Sonic Adventure 2 onto. Also with our queen.

Sega Saturn (2004): Part of my search for NiGHTS. I found it, then gave it to the Kitmyth.

Nintendo DS (2005): Sonic RUUUUSH. I use this one for platformer games or multiplayer.

Nintendo DSLite (2006): It's better! :D Obviously still works.

Nintendo Wii (2006): New, exciting and still working.

Dreamcast...a time bomb! How dare you, HSW. That piece of hardware is heavenly. As for me I can't remember the years but I do believe I have the order remembered correctly.

    SNES('94ish)
    Playstation('96ish)
    Atari 2600
    Game Boy Color
    N64
    Genesis
    Dreamcast
    GBA
    PS2
    GBA SP
    GC
    DS
    Sega Saturn
    Wii

I'm almost positive that is the order except for that bit dealing with the PS-Genesis area. That part is fuzzy. Still I guess thats about the correct order. *shrugs*

Consoles in the household as of this time (chronological order of coming in):
    Game Boy Pocket
    Game Boy Color
    Game Boy Advance SP
    Nintendo DS Lite
    Wii

Consoles I had at one point (not in chronological order that I got them):
Sony PlayStation (I don't remember if that ever went out the front door. It goes in here anyway.)
Game & Watch (a broken, hand-me-down that played Super Mario Bros.)
Game Boy (I think I gave it to my cousin.)

    Sega Genesis
    Nintendo 64
    Playstation
    Playstation 2
    GBA SP
    DS Lite
    Playstation 3

Also, my dad lives about a block away from me, and he owns a 360 which I play a lot.

My brothers co own a few of the consoles listed. I think this is the correct order and date.
snes-1995 or 1996 not too sure.
    genesis- christmas 1996
playstation- not sure. Wish I got a saturn instead, but brothers insisted on the ps.
N64- not sure either but a little after the ps for christmas
    dreamcast- 2000 for birthday
    gameboy advance- 2001?
    gamegear- 2002
    xbox- 2003 for birthday
    gamecube- christmas 2004
    psp- christmas 2005
    xbox 360- july of 2006
saturn- around nov. or dec. of 2006
white psp- bought it with christmas money in 2007
ds lite- got this puppy about two months ago. bought it from brother for $20! it also came with diddy kong racing!
dreamcast #2- bought this a couple of weeks ago for modding reasons. If I can mod it the way I want to I'll post some pictures here. I'm putting lights inside the dreamcast so when you turn the power on it shoots out some cool looking lights.
I keep thinking I'm forgetting something here but it's most likely not important since I can't remember it.

    Probably in chronological order:

-Mega Drive (brought with about 30 games for 50 in something like 1994)

    -Game Boy (Christmas...1995?)

    -Nintendo 64 (1998 I think)

-Game Boy Pocket (techincally my brothers, but I now claim ownership)

-Game Boy Colour (2 of them, one is my brothers)

-Playstation 1 (Dead. Still lying about somewhere though)

-Dreamcast (one brought for about 60 with 3 games from my mate which is 90% dead now, second dreamcast brought in 2006 works reasonably well)

-Gamecube (I think it was 2003 when it came out?)

-Xbox (christmas 2003, my brother sold it in '05, I brought a new one)

    -Playstation 2 (Summer of 2004?)

-Nintendo DS - (brought at the midnight opening on the release day)

    -xbox 360 (October 2006)

-Wii (Also brought at midnight opening)

Ok...so, um...am I the only person here who isn't a millionare? Seriously, how do people afford all this hardware?

    I have:

A busted up Sega Saturn that occasionally plays games when it feels like it.
A PSX who's case is beaten but is still faithful and plays fine.
A PS2 that I had to have replaced recently as it was dying (but I got a darn lot of use out of it!)
And a PC that was top spec a few years ago, now looks like something from the stoneage.

I did have a Sega Megadrive at one point too, that was already second hand when I got it. That's gone to my bro now.

But that's all I can afford! Not to mention all I have time to actually use as well...if I got other systems they'd just sit gathering dust, since I'd have no time to play them.

But really, how can anyone afford these rafts of systems mentioned in other posts?

    In chronological order:
Sega Genesis: 1991. Got it with Sonic 1. Currently have about 30 or so games with it.
Game Boy Color: 1996. Dead. A friend of my sister's found it and destroyed it intentionally. Needless to say, I was grounded after my mom learned of my retaliation. >_>
    Sega Dreamcast: 1999. Still works. I only have about 10 or so games for it. I need Shenmue. ;_;
Sony Playstation: 1999. Still works too. Have most of the FF series except for 7. And some racing/sports games too.
Game Boy Advance: 2002. This still works. Don't play it anymore though.
Sony Playstation 2: 2006. I know, got it late. I still play it some though I need some new games for it.

Birthdays and Christmas for a lot of the early ones. I had to buy my own GBA and GC, and I was going to buy my own Wii until it became a Christmas present (albeit one I had to camp out in front of a Target for). Allowance and a part-time job helped.

Cyc, wouldn't having a job imply that they don't have so much time as to play their consoles so much as to want more systems to the very extent shown by some of the lists in this thread?

    Anyway, as for me:

NES (not sure when; I remember someone on my street gave it to me and my sister when they were done with it, I think when I was a little kid... it didn't work well last time I tried it but I haven't played it in a while)

Sega Genesis (not quite sure when, but I think I was either 6 or 7 when I got it one Christmas which would imply 1995 or 1996... if the latter, N64 was already out at the time, but I don't think I heard of it until I was 8 or so)

Game Boy Advance (I think I was in grade 7 when I got it for Christmas, so that would be 2001)

Gamecube (I recall buying it a few days after Christmas in grade 9, so that would be 2003)

Nintendo 64 (2006 for me as well; IIRC, when I first saw it I guess I thought it would've been asking too much, to ask for it, as I was reasonably satisfied with my NES and Genesis, then for a few years I'd play it when people I knew who had N64s brought theirs over or I went over to their house, then later on I had N64 roms on my computer, then later on I rented N64 in 2004 and more clearly noticed significant differences between the roms and the games they were of, then later on I eventually made up my mind and bought one from an IRL buddy of mine who tended to bring his N64 over a fair bit anyway)

Combine those with how I use my PC for gaming... and that's it for what I own, otherwise I borrow or rent other consoles, though I don't do either very much, especially recently...

You might've noticed my recent leniancy towards Nintendo; It's a combination of factors, such as how the Nintendo consoles I bought were relatively cheap, then that combined with what I heard about Nintendo such as their supposedly focusing on quality rather than quantity of games, then that combined with how Nintendo was the only company of the main 3 whose consoles I've been playing since I was a little kid, giving me somewhat of sense of a nostalgia towards that company's games... I know, that's not good, I should be trying different brands... maybe this summer I'll try some more Sony and Microsoft consoles' games since I'll be doing more exploring both within and outside of video games by then anyway... but for now I might as well focus on my studies until I get grade 12 out of the way...

That reminds me, I should be getting back to my Math homework soon. o.o

EDIT: Fixed wording just a couple minutes after adding the post...

Super Nintendo w/ Super Mario Bros. and Mario Paint bundle (1994) -I was probably 6 when I got it. Sold it a while ago for I didn't use it anymore.
Genesis (1996) -Got it used with Sonic 1. It's just lying around somewhere.
Game Gear (1999) -Got it on Amazon at great condition. :D

My drunk older cousin spilled beer on it about 5 years ago. >_< It dosen't work.
N64 (2001) Use it on occasion for games that I still haven't bought.
Gamecube (2003) -Got the black one. Received as a Middle School Graduation present.
Advance SP (2003) -Got the red one. Played it almost to death.
Nintendo DS (2004) -Birthday present. During the holiday rush, and the fact that it just appeared a month ago, it took forever to find one.

    Consoles:
Sega Genesis (It still works and I played it last night XD. Sonic 2, I got to Metropolis and called it a night. I have, like, 30 games for it that I slowly collected during the 90's)
Sega Dreamcast(It's cooling system is messed up, but it works perfectly under a fan)
Nintendo Gamecube (Borrowed from a friend of mine. I still had it when he eloped with his girlfriend to Colorado so I just kept it.)

    Handhelds:
GameBoy Color (Lime Green, I still play Pokemon on it)
    GameBoy Advance ("Platinum", AKA grey)
GameBoy Advance SP (Black, was stolen last year)
GameBoy Advance Micro (Red w/Super Famicom faceplate)

I don't know exact years, but I think I can remember the order fairly well.

-NES (various one and various years, I think the first one was a gift from my maternal grandparents; and got new ones when the previous ones died)
-Sega Genesis 2 (Christmas present 96? came with Sonic and Knuckles)
-Sega CD (came attached with a Genesis 1 and Sonic CD, the only game I have for it, was a Christmas present year unknown)
-32X (used, bought myself?, froze both Genesises and never found Chaotix which is what I bought it for)
-GBA (indigo, Christmas present the year it came out, I think)
-GCN (before Easter of 2004, bought myself along with Sonic Heroes, Indigo first major system I bought with my own money)
-DS "Phat" (Electric Blue, July or August of 04/05 came with SM64DS bought myself)
-Xbox 360 (put in Wal-Mart layaway in October of last year got outta layaway on the 4 of December, Sonic 06 first game mostly bought it but mom put 100 dollars on it for Chirstmas present)
-Wii! (March 4 this year, SatSR first game)

The reason why I never had a N64, DC, etc. is because my parents had a policy that as long as my game systems were working they wouldn't get me a new one. If not for working, I would still probably be stuck on the Genesis. BTW, my cousin started living with us in May/June and he has a PS2 and about ready to get a PS3.
