I'm playing Worms World Party on my PC at the moment, because it's the only game that runs on my PC without it becoming a LAGHOUSE.

Also playing Final Fantasy X on the PS2, I've had to restart this a third time now (Damn lost memory cards. c.C) and Blitzball is rather addicting. oh, and a bit of MGS2 as well.

On my other consoles...

DS - Need for Speed underground 2
GBA - Fire Emblem 7
GC - Soul Calibur II/ Tales of Symphonia
Xbox - Halo 2

Tales of Symphonia, Joint Operations, and Battlefield Vietnam. ToS is the best damned rpg I played in a while.
Joint Ops is better than battlefield in all respects.
And Vietnam is helping me cope with my flash backs

..oh god... they got charlie...

Recently, after watching Batman Begins yesterday (which was awesome by the way, though this isn't the topic for that) I went straight to GameStop and was able to eye a copy of MGS: TTS, a game I've been planning to purchase, but didn't exactly do that until now.

To be honest, I'm no good at stealth. 😛 However, I hope to improve and get used to this formula.

I'VE DISCOVERED GOOD SATURN EMULATION.

...so, it should come as no surprise, then, that that's what I've been toying around with (the "that" in question being SSF 007 alpha R8). Also pirated (arr) a copy of Nocturne in the Moonlight (Saturn version, obviously) to toy around with, since now that I've beaten Symphony of the Night I can appreciate the new things a bit more. It's fun; Maria's actually kinda cool to play as, and I really should've known ahead of time that Trevor Belmont was "Ralph C Belmont" in Japan. Never mind that, though... I was more surprised that the intro text was still in English, and very similar to what was in the PS1 version to boot.

Oh, and the sound test is wonderful, too. That helps a good deal, seeing as the PS1 version had NOTHING of the sort.

The downside to this emulation wonder is that, while my computer's gotten better in the past few months, what with the new Radeon and all, let's face it - it's still behind the times. This time I think it's a processor problem; I doubt all the graphics power in the world could stop the emulator from being so choppy (or slow, depends on what the setting is I've set it to), given that even a good graphics card can get its power choked by a poor bus or a lousy processor (and, admit it, Saturn graphics are hardly Half-Life 2; heck, they're hardly even Half-Life!); but, I'm pretty certain a better processor could (and probably WOULD) make it move faster. After all, I've heard people on SFGHQ's forum laud just how well the thing moves (emulates Sonic Jam near perfectly at full speed!), so it should be doable.

(And yes, while I can either NOT get full-speed and see all the frames or get full-speed and have somewhat choppy gameplay - as I said, you can toggle whichever one you prefer pretty quickly - the emulation IS a lot more incredible than I ever got out of Cassinni. I mean, they even put in the pixelated transparencies where they were in the actual games! Cassinni never did that, it just drew the polygon...)

I'll update with some screens in a bit; I've already grabbed a few shots of me playing as Maria in Symphony/Nocturne, though I've still got to resize them, convert them to PNG or something, and upload them. Plus, I'd like to grab a few other games in my collection, like BUG!, Clockwork Knight 2 (which, sadly, kinda hangs at the opening video now, though I'm certain level select still works), the Saturn version of Sonic 3D Blast (prolly the special stage, given it's the thing that makes the version stand out so much), and maybe a few other things I can't think of right now.

Oh, and other than that, replaying Aria on New Game + Hard. It's more New Game + than Hard, though, given that I start off with Balore's soul, the Headhunter soul pretty high up, and the Claimh Solas. Though, I'm probably rushing too fast, since I'm up to Chaos again and I'm severely under-levelled. Figures. At least I have 100% on the map, if not the souls...

EDIT: Some pics, as promised:

Oooh, linky!

My ISP's employees are on strike, so I'm on a downloading rampage right now. I mean, they already didn't bother me when I downloaded 38 gigs last month, but now there's no chance of it whatsoever. Any excuse, right? Therefore, this month I'm going for a hundred gigs, and as such I've hardly had time for games. Today I threw together an AMD K6-2 1.0GHz machine devoted solely to Bittorrent, namely downloading about five games, eight DVD movies, the collected works of the Doors, the Barenaked Ladies, and the Guess Who, and all seven seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in sequence; and started watching all of Neon Genesis Evangelion which I downloaded yesterday.

I also whipped up The PAX Countdown, at the request of some Penny Arcade forum goons. That took a couple hours, but in the process I learned how to make a preloader in Flash. Also, apparently I'm going to bestown with Pocky, and that's always a plus.

The PS1 Symphony does have a sound test. If I remember rightly, when you beat the game, go and see the old man librarian. I swear its there.

And I guess I wasn't unaware of that, though, admittedly, I haven't touched SotN since I kicked Dracula's heiny; despite the fact I've yet to get 200% (just HOW do you get those blank squares at the top of the reverse castle?... jumping up into the water isn't helping), I don't think I'd like to steal my siblings' PlayStation for longer than I needed to.

Go outside.

From Exdeath's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night FAQ:

Question: What is the highest possible percent to get with Alucard?
Answer: The highest I've gotten and seen is 200.6%. For this 200.6%, I have 1890 rooms uncovered and I've seen every enemy in the entire game. I've never seen evidence of someone getting over 200.6% with more than 1890 rooms visited.

*Note: Using a glitch, I have managed to get 210.1%! To do this glitch, you must first go to the normal castle's confessional, at the bottom of the bell tower. Here, turn your Sword Familiar card on and get ready to do the Bat transformation. Stand over to the left enterance, and do the "Sword Brothers" spell with the Sword Familiar. When the sword is spinning around, use the Bat form and go outside of the enterance. The screen will not change as normal, and you can fly around outside of the castle! You can also do this in the Inverted Castle as well.

So, right, how exactly am I supposed to get 200.6% WITHOUT walking outside of the game's boundaries? And while I'm at it, there are some areas that have me puzzled...

  • ...near the entrance to Olrox's Quarters (or, in the Reverse Castle, the final battle), there's one pathway that I've yet to see open - in the Normal castle, it's the rightmost.
  • ...in the Clock Tower, there's a path that seems to be blocked by a gate, and I can't say as hitting the switches is working. I should toy with that more, though.
  • ...in the Abandoned Mine (or maybe it was Catacombs... wherever you fight Cerebrus and/or Death, at any rate), there's a big chunk of rock with some symbol put in it. Obviously this is a clue, but I can't say as I understand to what it pertains.
  • ...said rooms at the top of the upside-down lakes in the Reverse Castle.
  • It's all pretty odd, really... Methinks I should bust Alucard out again and take some looking around.

In other news, the underground garden was weird. Trees with creepy grins that chuck disembodied head things at you. Guys somewhat reminiscent of a more realistic Luigi (sans cap or mustache or indeeed any hair whatsoever, IIRC) that toss hedge clippers at you. Another warp point, which seems to have a lion head (I thought only the warp point near the throne room had a lion head!...). "Vampire Killer" remixed (although, seeing as I'm playing with Maria, the normal, catchy theme in Dracula's Castle has been replaced with a different, catchy remix of "Vampire Killer", so it's a little redundant), complete with a boss that VERY nearly killed me (I was low on health when I walked in, sue me) who was accompanied with an unmistakable remix of "Bloody Tears". VERY weird, but at least Konami thought up a way to make heading back to the gate from which you leap in, an otherwise fairly uninteresting task (leap up, level the hell up, fall back down and never think twice about it in the PlayStation version, unless you're nearby and want that cross weapon), well, a fairly interesting task.

In short, playing the Saturn version on this newfound emulator is proving to be fun, regardless of how many pixelated transparencies, slow and/or choppy framerates, or Japanese characters you toss at me.

Getting absorbed into GTA San Andreas at the moment. I haven't played any of the other games in the series to much extent, so this is a fairly new experience. And its helluva fun. I keep trying to get into Battlefield 2, which is sitting on my shelf, but San Andreas keeps eyeing me, begging for more carjacking fun every time I try and get used to the game.

Oh, and my Saturn doesn't want to work. If anyone wants to drop me a line about the wonderful world of actual working emulation, please do:

I have absolutely NO idea what it is about Contra that makes it so hard for me.
It's like my Red Kryptonite or something, especially since I PWN at most if not all other games.
Anyway, I finally did it, on Hard no less.
Right now, I'm playing RE4 (and loving it), and MGS3 (and hating it).

Oh, and also still Ikaruga... and I still PWN at it.

No offense Koolkaz, but there are much better brawlers than Spike Out. Maybe you should try an older Devil May Cry since I think the new one is still $50. I just love the tutorial in Spikeout.

Hey Falcon umm...i really don't care about your DMC game because i don't have a PS2. Even though i heard of better ones, The reason i got this was because the arcade up here that i got to, used to have a Arcade edition of Spikeout a while back. I fell inlove with this game and dropped so many quarters.

If you want a really good (and true)Brawler you need to go old school... with Double Dragon Series, and of course the cult smash hit that started it all (that even I love) River City Ransom. Oh! Dont forget Battletoads, Streets of Rage series and Gunstar Heros... (that one had guns but still close to a brawler)

Anyways, Im playin some of my old games from Xbox, and Air Force Delta Storm is still fun to play. I finnally unlocked the F-14 Tomcat! Played some levels out in the Ocean with the Top gun OST in the background... so much fun.

Currently playing Banjo-Tooie, Soul Calibur II, Wind Waker and OoT Master Quest. I gave up on Animal Crossing shortly after I gave up on my last serious relationship, considering that the only reason I used to play after a while was to have something to talk about with my girlfriend's dad.

Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones. I'm trying to get Lyon, but not for the reason of using him. You see, I've exploited a glitch which lets me control the enemies and take their weapons. By doing this, I gave one of my Bishops (Moulder) the ability to use dark magic (and eventually get an S rank in it). Once I get Lyon, I get the most powerful spell in the game (Naglfar). Combined with the Bishop's slayer ability, it will be pure ownage (25 Naglfar Weapon Might * 3 from slayer bonus + 25 from Bishop's Mag cap + support bonuses = At least 100 against monsters o.o)

And when I get bored with that, I turn to Project Gotham Racing 2.

Perhaps a bit late in this, or reminding you of something you already knew, but Nega, make sure to register your CD Key for Half-Life on Steam. You get Opposing Force, Counterstrike, Deathmatch Classic, Team Fortress Classic, and, as of about two-three days ago, Blue Shift, all free of charge. Talk about a bargain.

Besides, being in possession of Half-Life: Source (and eagerly awaiting Black Mesa: Source), it's all those extra games that make owning the first game worth it. And boxes that don't randomly start rotating on me (I still have no idea why that was occurring in HL:S...). 😉

No, you weren't too late. I didn't even realize that I could register them into Stream. Didn't think that "Register Products You Already Own" included the old stuff. First, the FFVII patch, now this. Thanks!

Well, I guess this means I'll be playing more Half-Life, then.
