Finished Persona 3 like five minutes ago, and put in the FES disc to watch the new intro.
My big question is, should I replay the new version of "The Journey" or should I dive right into "The Answer"? Those who know about such things (PSX! I'm looking at you) make the decision for me.
Will obtain Continuum Shift tonight and will continue to stay up til sunrise Saturday morning. So.Pumped. ^_^

"The Answer" is a 40+ hour grind-a-thon, on Hard difficulty, with no Persona Compedium to fall back on and very little story to make up for it. Most people would recommend you skip playing it and just watch all the cutscenes on Youtube. But I wouldn't. Despite all that, the final few hours of gameplay (without spoiling anything) is so very worth it. But you might come out of it not thinking too highly of certain S.E.E.S. members.
But hey, any excuse to replay "The Journey" is good. If the new Aeon social link and the Elizabeth dates aren't enough of a motivation...
I never found that extra incentive to play through the Journey all over again. There's not that much different from the original P3 (which I had alrady played through multiple times before I got FES). Like Psx said though The Answer is worth it (the reason I still have FES in my collection). Story moments are very sparse, but man is that gameplay intense!
Anyways, I just picked up Phantasy Star Zero. I'm having quite a blast. Reminds me of the good ol' days with PSO. Is it just me though or are the bosses in this game TOUGH? I consider myself a PSO vet, but I got creamed several times battling some of those bigger foes!
10 hours into The Answer so far, and I'm almost at the point of which I wish to stand atop a mountain and scream IS THAT ALL YOU'VE GOT!!! YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO KILL ME!!!! at Atlus. Despite the slightly inconvinient additions to the hard mode, The Answer has yet to give me anything more difficult than Sleeping Table.
I know the pain is coming, but so far... I'm easy.
Finished Miles Edgeworth yesterday. Definitely enjoy the courtroom battles better.
Still working through Red Dead Redemption, only a few story missions to go. I tried multi with a buddy of mine, but the people there are annoying. Defintitely need a big group of friends to ride around with to counter all the asshats.
I also started PoP:TFS yesterday. Paid ~$20 for it, and if I can beat it in a week, I'll get $19 trade in for it. Can't be too bad for a $1 game
I'm also working my way through Dragon Quest IX. Just got to the Tower of Trades
Still just getting lil trophies here and there for God of War III, also some LittleBigPlanet and will be replaying Mass Effect 2/Dragon Age again when I get my 360 back from my friend.
I just completed Again, and what do you know, it ends on a cliffhanger. With CiNG dead, that's never gonna happen, too. =
Just finished Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands. Wow, people weren't kidding about the damned 15 minute credits. Didn't care about who did the voices for the Vietnamese version. Game play was alright. I liked that there were more enemies than POP 08. Hell, the only things I liked in 08 were the graphics and the interaction between the Prince and Elika. This game was way too short, but I paid $21 and will now get $19 on trade in. Good enough for a $2 game.
Now I've got Red Dead to finish up, SMG2 and NMH2 to do the same. Oh and Okami as well.

If this was facebook, i'd "like" this. But oh my stars!!! Goodness gracious! Blazblue: Continuum Shift...is a godsend. It feels the way I hoped it would. So very fluid and so very combo-able. Street Fighter has officially been replaced. KoFXIII has a super steep mountain to climb. But oh sweet lord. Continuum Shift...how you make my heart pitter patter.
Still Persona 3 FES. Level 65 on The Answer, still no probs. Two more doors to go. I think I'm on the final stretch now. Also Tricia's play through of The Journey has gotten through to July after the full moon event.
Picked up Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days yetserday and I gotta say...it's been pretty boring so far. I'm sure it heat up as I keep going, but at four hours in I am still waiting for something to wake me up!
Catching Pokemon with the Pokewalker is kinda a pain but I'm surprised at how easy it is to wrack up a bunch of watts. A simple walk around the block with my dog nets me around 25 watts or so. If I could only take this to work...50K steps a shift is sooo possible.
Just finished the main story in Red Dead Redemption. =| @ the ending. Great game though. Haven't liked their GTA games, but this one was fun. The save system was a little annoying, but other than that everything was fine.
Hopefully I'll be playing through the 3rd Borderlands DLC here soon. I convinced my buddy to pick it up so it should be fun. I'll also have to beat the 2nd one, as I didn't finish before the 1.30 patch hit... meaning good bye to my unlimated bullets weapons =|.
How's the gunplay controls in Red Dead, Hiro? I played GTA4 and needless to say they were utterly terrible and therefore one of the few reasons why I still haven't picked up Red Dead yet amongst waiting for it to be a bit cheaper.
As for what I'm playing, I'm playing a little bit more of FF9 after a lull of playing absolutely nothing. I hate the summer months, why can't game developers actually release some stuff during this time? =| I've ordered Broken Sword for the DS so I guess I'll play that and I'm waiting on the Lara Croft and Dead Rising 2: Case Zero xbla games to hit.

It's very simplistic, even having normal (locking on every time you hit L2 to aim) or expert (the old fashioned 'you're on your own' way). You get achievements for headshots tho. Whoot. (And I know I'm not Hiro)...
Haven't been playing too much. Just got all the Achievements for Sonic 1, 2, and 3. Now I'm wanting to buy Limbo BADLY. And waiting for Scott Pilgrim vs The World to come out on XBLA (the 25th).
I completely agree with Beardo. My only complaint with the normal is it sometimes aims at the damn rock the bad guy is hiding behind, not his stupid face as he is popping out to try and shoot me.
Oh, and I am also waiting for the Scott Pilgrim game for XBLA. Hopefully Ubi repeats its little preorder deal for the Xbox version.
I take anything bad I said about Whitney's Miltank. It's nothing compared to Clair's stupid Kingdra and it's only weakness being to Dragon attacks and the only worthwhile Dragon attacks I have are Dragon Rage and Twister (Which is super weak).
Starcraft II. Maybe I'm just nostalgic.
Giving up on Dragon Quest IX... It is meant to be played as a multiplayer game, just like Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates. I'm going to try DQ IV and V instead.
I also remembered why I stopped trying to beat Borderlands' 2nd DLC... Although looking online, it looks like if I use a lvl 1 character and come in as player 2 with my level 61, I can easily beat the 100 waves and get all of my achievements.
Finished The Answer last night, the final boss gave me some mild trouble, but then I got Yukari up to 74 and with Mediahran she was able to make me unstoppable. She was still a crab infested douche, though.
Ending didn't do much for me. Tricia's mid-October in her game. Will wait for her to finish before starting my FES Journey run.
Just got Limbo last night, about an hour into it. Now I'm going back and getting my lost achievements in Sonic Unleashed and Skate 2.
Actually got Soul Silver last weekend but have already beat 15 gym leaders and am currently holding off on facing Gary and am having a little fun crushing the entire Elite Four with ease and having to use maybe 5 healing items at most because once I beat Gary, their levels will jump big time and...yea.
And the music for the Champion battle is so awesome.
EDIT: And as I say that, Lance's stupid Aerodactyl became a huge pain, taking out Gyrados (7 levels higher) and Typhlosion (Nearly 20 levels higher!) in one shot with Rock Slide. I still won easily but now I'm annoyed and want payback.
Worst Champion fight still has to be Cynthia and her too strong for its own good Garchomp.
FINALLY FINISHED MY PORTABLE CASTLEVANIA-A-THON (barring extra modes and some hidden dungeons, but that's gravy). I shall go in the order I played:
Dawn of Sorrow (DS): Knew of the 'twist', so to speak, from Internet spoilers. Was still a very entertaining title, with just the right balance (somewhat merciful early on, Nintendo Hard at the end. As it should be!). Music was cool, and the extra Julius Mode was a pleasure to play (though the anime art style was sort of 'blah'). The final boss was so flippin' IRRITATING however.
Portrait of Ruin (DS): An intriguing take on the Metroidvania gameplay, though I didn't quite take advantage of the possibilities of the 'two-at-once' gameplay mechanic. As a whole, it was more fun to play than DoS (despite the repeated use of stages up to palette-swap), and various musical choices were more ear-catching than DoS's (Crucifix Held Close, heck yeah!). The actual story bit had an interesting take on it as well (Brauner calls out Drac on being a LOSER! Also, "A PAINTING OF THE SOUL!!!" Gotta love LARGE HAMS). The true final boss was also cool (Death and Dracula at once! Tonight on SMACKDOWN.)
Circle of the Moon (GBA): Gosh, Nathan's default walk is slooow. But it picked up once he learned how to run; the gameplay is simpler, but also rather enjoyable (the difficulty jumped up and down depending on the DSS cards I got, and the bosses, for the most part, were challenging). And OH MY GOSH I LOVE THE MUSIC. Easily the catchiest tunes of the handheld titles thus far. It may be a function of the fact that I didn't get a lot of the DSS cards (subweapons), but the last part of the game really dragged on (due to the need to level up, the general Nintendo Hard-ness of the enemies, and how far apart the teleporter rooms are). Also, Dracula's final form? The most difficult final boss of the handheld titles, in my personal opinion.
Harmony of Dissonance (GBA): SOOOOOO LOOOOOOOST. Yeah, the amount of backtracking in this game was crazy. Didn't help that the general design of the backgrounds seemed to mesh together with the foreground a lot. Also, the enemies still provided difficulty, but not up to par with previous titles...and the bosses were too easy. ESPECIALLY THE TRUE FINAL BOSS. I just got behind him and mashed away, his sprite couldn't even reach me. It wasn't even programmed to turn around! Also, despite the use of the weaker sound channels for the system, it held a nostalgic appeal for me that seemed to fit the game as a whole.
Aria of Sorrow (GBA): Now we're getting somewhere. I actually enjoyed this one more than DoS, since the two titles are very similar. The music's a bit catchier (HEART OF FIRE), and the art design is YES. There were some places where the difficulty really spiked near the end (when searching for bosses and extra souls needed to access the true ending), and the progression of events could have been elaborated on more (in particular, the clues as to how you access the true ending are somewhat obscure). However, the best part of this title is JULIUS BELMONT. Yes. He is a beast compared to his DoS counterpart. True, Julius Mode in DoS was put together in a cohesive and logical manner, but playing Julius Mode in AoS shows how much his powers had to be curtailed for DoS.
Order of Ecclesia (DS): The last one, featuring gameplay that's a fusion of the level-based NES Castlevanias and the Metroidvania style made popular by Symphony of the Night. And HOLY CRAP THIS GAME IS HARD. Probably the most difficult of the handheld Castlevanias, save for possibly Circle of the Moon, and that's only because I didn't get all the best subweapons in CoTM (or even the moderately good ones; enemies were reluctant to drop them). The art style is delicious (away with thee, anime trappings!), and the soundtrack is well-made as usual. But seriously, this game is HAAAARD. Even with good equipment and high levels, it doesn't take bosses but a few hits to kill you. Also notable for having a Dracula whose 'One Winged Angel' form simply consists of him pimp-walking. Whilst killing you. Did I mention it was hard?
So yeah.
Also got Team Fortress 2. After playing it for a few hours, my thoughts were 'WHY HAVE I WAITED SO LONG TO PLAY THEE?!'
Also got Team Fortress 2. After playing it for a few hours, my thoughts were 'WHY HAVE I WAITED SO LONG TO PLAY THEE?!'
Damn straight. That's what I thought when I sampled the free weekend back in June. 200+ hours and close to 200 achievements later, I haven't looked back.
Anyway, still slogging through Chrono Trigger DS. I think I've just awakened Lavos after beating Wizard McMoron in the Fiendlord's Tower. Much as I enjoy this game, I can't help but feel I've really lost the plot. There was something about a pendant opening a time portal, and a queen impostor, and then there was a dragon wagon trying to eat me after I had a brief moment of playing Phoenix Wright, but then I wound up in Metallic Madness Bad Future with thieving rats, and then Gamma Robo starts following me around and I end up at the end of time with magic powers so I have to go find a stone in the past to forge a weapon in the later past to give to a frog...?
A classic in videogame storytelling, ladies and gentlemen.
Been kinda broke lately so just replaying hella games. Playing God of War 3 on my ps3. Playing Nazi Zombies and Mass Effect 2 on my 360.
For awhile, I was torn between playing MegaMan Network Transmission (MegaMan Battle Network game for the GCN) and my second playthrough of ME2 with my female, renegade Shepard import from ME1. On Sunday, I decided I wanted to play ME2, after playing some of NT, and I'm just now about ready to go recruit Mordin.
Madeen '10 on Wii. First game of the season...Bengals beat me 6-3. Argh! On a 6-0 run now though. Also playing some SSFIV, Blazblue: Continuum Shift and Armored Core for Answer.
Literally have every achievement in Sonic Unleashed except for the Hot Dog missions. So I definitely did some Gamerscore grinding last night. Went from like, 200 in Unleashed to 820. Whoo. I feel bad tho, as I bought Limbo and have only spent about 20 minutes on it.
I picked up God of War Collection a few days ago on the cheap, been playing GoW1 whenever I have the time. Currently up to the Cliffs section of the Pandora dungeon, which is the farthest I've ever gone back when I rented the game for PS2 years back. I recall getting my ass handed to me by the zombie Egyptians and quitting in frustration. Let's see how I fare this time.
While I've finished Persona 3 Portable over a week ago on the FemC route, I've continued to grind my team to Level 99 and am currently in the process of gathering together everyone's ultimate equipment. I've considered finally taking on the game's secret uber boss (could never come close to beating it in the previous versions) as well as the new Vision Quest optional "dungeon". Thanks to the new addition of collectible skill cards, I easily crafted a primo Orpheus Telos to use against the ultimate opponent.
Still playing Pokemon Heart Gold. I FINALLY got around to beating all 16 gyms, so now I'm catching more Pokemon and doing some level grinding before I take on Red. I will bring the pain!
Beat GOW3 again, done with that for now. Played Mass Effect 2 a bit, got kinda bored with it. So I started a new game on a different profile for GTAIV and have been playing that. Makes me want to get the other two expansions cuz they look pretty good. But alas still broke.
Finishing off the treasure hunter achievements in Final Fantasy XIII. Just basically grinding gil for hours upon hours. Alongside that, a spot of pokémon HeartGold, which I need to get around to beating Red on. Finally, doing my Mass Effect 2 playthrough on insanity, which is well named. Seriously even the Varren have armour, and it takes a good chunk of your ammo to take down a single enemy.
Playing through Megaman Zero Collection, a little bit of Final Fantasy 9 here and there, and started playing Shadow Complex.
Just beat Prince Of Persia: Forgotten Sands. Played thru most of the game in the Ezio costume. Thank you, uPlay. Anyways, the whole thing was a bit underwhelming. The platforming was solid fun, tho.
The hardest thing about the God of War 1 optional Challenge of the Gods mode?
Is it the cheapness?
Is it that you can't save your progress between rooms?
Is it how half of them require unflinching perfection and nerves of steel?
No.
Playing through it without yelling expletives at your TV... that is the hardest thing about trying to complete Challenge of the Gods. u.u;
And forget God Mode, I'll just watch the secret movies on Youtube! Moving on... GoW2: Electric Boogaloo!
Recently completed Jeanne D'arc to my satisfaction.
Now started on Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness. Having trouble against Mid-Boss and grinding is taking forever.
Oh lol @ Disgaea. Either give up where you are now like I did or say goodbye to the rest of your life.
I've been doing quite a bit of gaming lately. I happened to have received a PS3 for my birthday a few months ago. I bought Valkyria Chronicles and Resistance. VC is a really great game, but sadly I can't say the same for Resistance. I think it is okay; the thing with an FPS is after a few years of aging they lose what's good about em (the graphics). It also has some pretty boring music.
I just finished Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast. Now that is one heck of a game. Too many random encounters though. I had some trouble fighting the last few bosses; mostly just time consuming. It took me at least two hours to beat the last three bosses.
I'm happy to see so much talk about Persona 3! I've been trying to finish it up. I'm on the 1 month countdown; just grinding away right now.
Just wondering, but how does Persona 4 compare to the third?
Just been playing Nazi Zombies on World at War with my friends. Might buy Red Dead Redemption soon. Got a lot of bills to play this month so we will see.
In my opinion Abac, I find Persona 4 to be a slight step above P3. The basic gameplay pretty much remains the same, but with some touch up. I especially like the fact that you can directly control all of your party members in battle, which was obviously absent in the PS2 versions of P3 and annoyed me to no end! However in P4 you can only enter the game's dungeons right after after school instead of at night which makes proper time management all the more important. In terms of story, well that's all up to your tastes. I personally found P4's story more entertaining than P3's, but I liked P3's characters better. Oh and P4's opening is extremely long and talky (longer than P3's anyway).
Anywyas, currently playing Xenosaga Episode II. Not as exciting as the first game, but still enjoyable. I do hate the neutured battle system though. I have no idea why they went and changed it. There was nothing wrong with the battle system in the first game! Oh, well!
Played Resident Evil 5 with my nephew who is learning how to play so I have someone to play with thats not online again. Also, purchased Red Dead Redemption online earlier, so gonna wait a few days to get that in the mail and play it.
Seeing as Final Fantasy 5 difficulty hasn't been broken by me yet, I decided to give it a go. So far I have crushed pretty much any boss that ever caused me trouble in this game. Galura? Dies before it can get in a hit. Soul Cannon? Again, dies before it gets a hit. Arcaheovis? Dies with little trouble...oh hullo monster-in-a-box...Red Dragon?! Okay, well he's super weak to ice so...roasts my entire party twice in a row for 1500 damage...jerk. Guess that Blood Sword gets blown up with the Barrier Tower then! I thought about fighting the Crystal Segments with a legitimate strategy...I'm not in a patient mood so I throw up Golem and use GP toss and call it a day. Though to be honest, the first and second worlds are pretty easy compared to what the 3rd world can do.
Now playing Quake II.
It is surprisingly addicting. I have never been much of a PC gamer but I am getting into this one. I just need build up my coordination with a mouse though. I haven't used a mouse in a FPS since High School when we were playing Counter Strike in Networking.
The music on this game is awesome! Not as good the music from Decent II, but good. I have burnt the music to my iTunes and have been listening some.
Cool stuff.
Aww man, I haven't played Quake II since way back in the day. Such a good one too.
Welp, if someone can tell me an optional boss in the Final Fantasy series harder than Omega or Shinryu from FF5, let me know because I'm not seeing it.
I got tired of trying to beat the one guy in Dragon's Age that I can't seem to get past, so I picked another game out of my pile-o-games that I hadn't had time to play yet.
Crackdown. I beat the first gang on my first play through. I have a few complaints, but nothing that breaks the game for me just yet.
For starters, the aiming sucks ass. I try to lock on to something that I'm aiming at, my reticule is directly over it and I hit lock. And it locks onto something entirely different. Frustrating....
The second complaint is that I have no idea what I'm doing and the game makes no effort to tell me. There's nothing like trying to find the reload button only to throw a grenade at civilians. No manual and no prompts to even tell me what buttons do what...
Finished God of War II. During the final battle I do believe that was a pretty big plothole there:
ANYHOO, I might or might not do the Challenge mode. Meanwhile, P3P's Vision Quest is kicking my ass, so I decided to go back to the port of the very first Persona. I left off just before going into the "dark" side of alternate Mikage-cho months ago but stopped playing. Now that I've reacquainted myself with my party and their abilities I did some leveling/grinding for Spell cards inside the Harem Queen's dungeon before finishing it proper. Now the game is asking me to backtrack to the "light" side of town in order to obtain the mirror I need to progress the story.
Need to wrap these games up. Birth By Sleep comes out in less than two weeks! 😮
I've been playing Crackdown 2. Completely agree with NotU about the stupid aiming. Half the time you end up shooting a car instead of the guy hiding behind the door of the car.
