Well I expected it to come late 2012 or early 2013 so this E3 is probably when to announce. If they release it earlier they are being too quick IMO.

Wii 2 is codenamed "Project Cafe" and that the controller will have dual analouge sticks, games can be transfered to the touch screen, etc.

How can they do any of that and not make it $400 or more? They better not try to become the Sony of the next console series.

How would you expect any console for the next generation to NOT be expensive? Unless the Wii's successor power output was only comparable to the 360 and PS3 then fine, but if that was the case why would you want to buy one of them when, well, there's the PS3 and 360 which would be cheaper.

Better technology is bound to cost more. And imho Nintendo really needs to pull out the big guns here and get with some properly comparable nextgen tech. The Wii in comparison to the 360 and PS3 is abysmal.

Nintendo just made a ridiculous amount of money and won a generation by NOT getting into a spec contest. In fact historically most generation winners are the least powerful consoles.

Also because what you said has nothing to do with the costs of putting a TV into a controller, or competing with 360/PS3 because they are launching it to compete with the next series, which would not cost a lot now anyway.

And honestly I can't see any reason in particular why it wouldn't. Question would be more if GC games would since all of nintendo's last consoles and handhelds had backwards compatibility for one previous generation, but considering how there's like, lol little difference between Wii and GC I can't see why not.

According to the specifications listed at IGN it will be about twice as powerful as a PS3, which sounds about how they are likely to do it. Similar to the sort of card you can get at $120-$200 for PC.

However the rumor about a HD screen is crazy. The controllers would be in the neighborhood of $100 each if sold at cost. If they do add a screen to the controllers, it will probably not be HD standard. Maybe a premium model could offer a HD screen.

An R700 is considerably more powerful than a PS3 and is what a medium or upper medium gaming PC has. However I am not so sure it is strong enough to be a next gen (2012-2018) system as it was released 2008.
