I so enjoy discussing this topic with other gamers like myself, I wanted to discuss it with all you geniuses here at SHQ. Which motion controller gets it exactly right? I've played Wii and Kinect, but I haven't done the Move. But my opinion so far is, in simple words, Kinect > Wii > Move. I know that it's slightly uninformed based on me never having picked up a Move controller, but there are some things about it that you already kinda know about it- I'll go into this a little bit more once I establish my reasoning for this judgement.

Kinect's pros are that it's an add-on to a widely owned system, so the people who dont wanna shell out 200 dollars for a Wii, and want motion controlls, can just get Kinect, which is 50 dollars cheaper. Although in contrast, those people have probably already bought a Wii anyway. But it's also extremely spot on with its motion tracking. The interfaces and menus can at sometimes be slightly difficult to navigate, but no more so then the Wii. I've played a few Kinect games and my movements translate perfectly into the games. The only exception was Sonic Free Riders, but that's not a fault with the Kinect, it was a problem with the game.

Kinect's cons are that, first of all, you need alot of living room space to play the games. I had to bring my couch back about two feet away from the screen to play Kinect, and if you play traditional Xbox games with wired controllers, this can be a problem if you like to sit on the couch during your play sessions. It also has SOME minor issues, while very rarely, with miscalculation in that sometimes it thinks I'm kneeling, when really I'm not. This only happens maybe 1 in 5 times, and still has never really been a big deal. Only other cons are that it wont have a very different library of games from the Wii and Move, and that it's always going to be strictly for casual gamers, but this is the exact same case with both Wii and Move- the exception being that while Kinect is simply an addon to an existing system, almost 90% of any games on the Wii are going to be motion controlled.

Almost all of the pros of Wii dont seem like pros compare to that of the Kinect. Like, it has accurate motion controlls, but Kinect's are even MORE accurate. Wii has pretty good graphics, but Kinect has even BETTER graphics. With all of this, and the Move, Wii is not going to stand a chance. Nintendo is going to be releasing a new generation of consoles very soon, I'm willing to bet. They've fallen so behind in the competition with the other systems, and they weren't even doing well to begin with. The hardcore gaming audience is alot wider than the casual audience, so both Kinect and Move have the advantages in that they are addons to regular systems that alot of people already have.

Then, there are definitely some cons of the Move that are kind of blatant- for example, it's basically a prettied up Wii with a different selection of games and different controllers- maybe HD graphics, too. It's doing the exact same thing that Wii did 4 years earlier, and according the reviews, the games havent been that great so far. Not any more impressive then the Wii's list, though, other than in numbers. Not to mention, Move is technically an old peice of hardware- other than the remotes, the Move is pretty much the exact same thing as the EyeToy that came out for PS2- and that's literally. Move uses the EXACT same camera as the EyeToy, which means alot of technical improvements could've been made that werent.

It's kinda hard to tell which is higher up, Move or Wii, but I have to say Wii because of the state that Move's game selection is in. The only reason anybody would have to get a Move is if they were gamers whose kids wanted motion controls- and even if that was the case, they probably already picked up a Wii for their kids. So I came to the point of putting it at Kinect > Wii > Move, because I'm willing to bet that Sony will take a loss on the peripherals- there's only a handful of people who are going to end up buying it.

this is an intersting topic, i wanted to get kinect for the xbox but the guy at the store said its for pal only and i have an ntsc so i didnt buy it (or did he mean the game that came with it is pal only but the kinect works for both pal and ntsc).

anyway since i couldnt get that for my birthday i found a wii there with almost the same price as the kinect he was selling just 50 dollars more, so yeah i bought a wii.
the wii system is now cheaper almost the same price as a kinect, and i think the wii is better cause it has lots of fun remotes and games for its controllers more than the xbox does. i love my xbox but its gonna stick with regular games with me.
