LOOK WHAT THEY DID TO BOMBERMAN!!!
I am SO sick of the market being injected with darkness and "mature" to boost sales and appeal.
Seeing Bomberman like that has killed everything I ever cared about in the gaming world. I'm taking my cute and cuddly Kingdom Hearts 2 and maybe Sonic 15th Anniversary and I'm LEAVING!
O_O
That's not Bomberman. They must've stole the name. There is no way they can change it that much and it still be Bomberman.
Augh...I've never really enjoyed Bomberman to a high degree anyway, but I still don't see why they took an innocent, fun game and layered this on it. Surely if they were so desperate to have something like this they could've made it a different franchise? cc That said it seems to be a chip in for sales - something non-Bomberman would likely not sell so well. Hm.
I'm looking forward to playing We <3 Katamari even moreso now, retaining the cuteness of days past and supposedly a great deal of fun.
I was seriously hoping that this topic would be about some kind of new, portable, flame-retardant X-Box. I'm sure many people would love to take their X-Box with them to the afterlife.
And what is that thing? It doesn't even remotely resemble Bomberman.
!!
*Snuggles a Bomberman plushie*
O, what have they done to you, Bomberman? ;.;
So...who's developing the game though? Blame them, not Xbox.
But stil...it's like Vectorman all over again...
Hudson, I imagine (unless they sold the rights or something). I've known about this since that X05 video montage thing, and while I don't like the change in character, I don't really feel that annoyed by it.
There hasn't really been a stand-out great Bomberman game since Saturn Bomberman if you ask me, and while it's a shame Bomberman has been retired/removed/whatever, it's not like the little guy ever had much of a following. He hasn't been the same since they forgot the multiplayer was the most fun thing about the game and kept on trying to innovate the living daylights out of him. Ever play those N64 games they made? Not pretty.
Best just to remember him as he was at his prime, eh? Endless samey GBA/PS2 party games aren't really what he was about either, before all the darkness and such.
The only Bomberman game I ever played was Wario Blast.
Exchanging it for Tetris and Final Fantasy Legend was a horrible mistake. ;_;
No....NO....NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
~Neo
Bomberman games needed a revamp, but THIS IS NOT WHAT I IMAGINED!
NO! NO! NO!
WHAT HAVE THEY DONE? That is not bomberman! This does not sit well with me. Me no like one bitty bit. It was bad enough that Spartan was in Dead Or Alive 4 (though the rest of the game rocked! Especially Kasumi) but changing bomberman is just not right! It's not the thing to do.
If it's not broke, don't fix it. Have they not heard of that? I'm gonna have to play Bomberman DS to feel better. Seriously, that doesn't look right. Try making Doom look more cartoony, like the Mario Bros games.
Each game has it's look and this doesn't work. Me no like.
Sweet Jesus. This is what my childhood has become.

what in the hell did Hudson Soft do!!!?!?!?!?
Nuuuuuu! Not BOMBERMAN!!! God I loved that game back during the NES. Talk about a meltdown! WTF? Im goin back to my Dreamcast version and enjoying that.
Craig, why are you blaming the Xbox for this atrocity? This is Hudson's doing.
And yes, Cyber-Bondageman sucks!
Oh yeah and this BS trend of Extremifing video game franchises(see Jak sequels, Shadow the Hedgehog, Prince of Persia:Warrior of Within, etc.) needs to stop.
err...
this is what they originally looked like, thus back to the roots i guess. nb- couldn't find nes cover
OW MY CHILDHOOD
Christ.
Next time on Video Game Mascot XTREME Makeovers, we pay a visit to Lolo and Lala of Adventure of Lolo fame and introduce them to the dark, foreboding recesses of the goth subculture...

Pssh. That's the American cover. You know that most American covers to Japanese games from the 8-bit and 16-bit era hardly represent the original character designs in Japan. Also see the U.S. Mega Man 1-2 covers.

Yeah...
...I'm crying. I'm bloody crying.
Hudson, go and give the rights to Nintendo. I'd prefer them to do something stupidly kiddy with the Bomberman franchise, than what you've done.
HEAR THIS! ANGST DOES NOT EQUAL GOOD GAMEPLAY!!
Hiro; I'm getting an 'image hosted by Tripod'...uh, image, where yours should be. >> Can't seem to get at it - tried copying the URL into the address bar 'n' everything. 😡
I LOLed at Rico's image, tho. <3
*jaw also drops at that awful megaman cover someone linked to in the comments under that article* they really drew megaman like that, with a gun in his hand? oo; urgh!
as for this, i never got to play the origional bomberman, but i much prefer his cuter origional self. it makes the game seem more 'fun'.
I swear someone has it out for me this week...This is the second time I've mess up on a pic...AAARRRGGGGHH!
=O!!!!
OMG OMG OMG!! I WANT A MEGAMAN PLUSHIE JUST LIKE THAT
Well.... it's a shame a distinctive character design has become generic-xbox-crap-graphic-no. 83
Not a lot more to say, really.
First they gave Shadow a gun and now they turn Bomberman into Iron Man EEEXXXTTRREME clone. Is nothing sacred anymore? Is only a matter of time before they do Grand Theft Auto: Pacman Land.
:.twitch.:
And I don't mean that like, "wow, this really ticks me off and I need an emote to express how I feel. My left eye actually twitched upon seeing that picture...
Sweet lord - it's the Guyver!!
I must admit that Bomberman must've had issues if he turned into that - That aside, i think he looks rather cool, but it shouldn't have been Bomberman.

Oh my god! Now that you mention it, video games ARE being made to a more 'extreme' style!
What of Mario then? Stomping goombas is now gonna have full blood effect? Innocent creatures of the mushroom kingdom suffer horrendous torture and brutal mutilation?
I agree, in some cases, that it must stop.
As for the covers, Bomberman has always looked the same in the game. Same goes for Megaman really. Only the pictures of them on the covers were different. But, of course, you already knew that.

I don't know, in the case of Mario, to me, he's probably going to be the ONLY one I know of for sure in the cute and cuddly genre that won't be reduced to "extreme" measures. It's just not the Nintendo way.

*looks at Link*...yeah..definietly not the 'tendo way...
I do agree though...Mario will always be Mario

Well, in the case of Zelda, the series have always been more serious then most Nintendo franchise. Besides, they're not gonna suddenly make Link turn into a gun totin' badass extreme angst person.
ah, these days you never know... if they can do it to bomberman, who's to say they cant to mario?
NO! NO! NO! I REFUSE TO BELIEVE IT! *covers ears* I'M NOT LISTENING!
~Neo
Don't worry Craig, while some games get uglier (sorry, darker, angstier and more "mature") some characters just get cuter ^^.
Still, I don't really care, Bomberman hasn't really been a big figure since the SNES days, to my knolege of course. Still, most redesigns tend to have some kind of recollection to the original, much like Goeman's and Megaman's have through their histories, but this one is by far the most different I've seen. Who knows, next they'll have Alex Kidd as some sort of Power Ranger (god forbid).
Edit: I have to say, looking through the pics once more I really don't like the designs, and that's without putting the Bomberman name on them, they're too ugly and too unbalanced, like a mecha-version of that ResE monster who's name I can't quite remember.
Well, it's actually arguable Zelda becoming more serious. As far as I'm aware, Twilight Princess is just as dark as OOT and MM. In fact, if anything, the series had becoming surprisingly lighter in the Wind Waker.
Shame some graphic whores hated it and returned Zelda to what it once was.

heh. just because someone may not like a particular graphical style as much as another doesn't automatically make them "graphic whores".
anyway, I can't remember where I read this now, but I thought Nintendo has said they intend to make another Zelda game using the Wind Waker style some time in the future (for the Revolution I assume).

Yeah, it makes them people who have a generic taste in 'proper' graphics. =P
I KEED I KEED.
However I do have a feeling that generally TP won't age as well visually as WW in 5 years or so. I mean OOT and MM already looks outdated.
They should attempt at least cel-shading for the upcoming DS Zelda because in general 3D on the DS comes out looking pretty sub-par.

It's already happened. It's called Super Mario Brothers: The Movie.
Dear Craig,
Stop making and taking any excuses to bash the X-Box. It is quite annoying and makes you look like a fanboy when you take any excuse to jab at the X-Box.
Let it be said that X-Box is NOT ruining your precious Bomberman. Hudson is making this game of their own accord and coincidentally producing it for the XBox. Blame them if you think they are "ruining" it.
TIB, stop being a raving fanboy.
Actually, come to think of it, that goes for you too, Craig.
Now the two of you stop or you'll get no dessert tonight.
And I thought that Shadow the Hedgehog was a little extreme. Yeah, there has been a nasty trend of "revamping" older games for an older audiance. I would call this proof that it's going WAAAY too far. =/
Wait. What did I do? *blink*
Don't worry about it, Craig. Tib's rabid Xbox fan-izm makes him jump to conclusions whenever an anti-Xbox comment pierces his heart and Wonderbat is Wonderbat.
(Laughs)
"I'm gonna fufill my destiny, doing that thing to that guy
It's a joke, right. Pee-Pee in your coke! Old Chinese joke."
(Qoute from Perfect Hair Foever c2005 Cartoon Network used without premission)
Like that really is Microsoft trademark. HA!HA!HA!HA!HA!AHHHHHA!HA!HA!HA!
FWI, Bomberman is Husdon Soft trademark, which BTW is owned by Nintendo. This has nothing to do with Bomberman.
Where did you get the idea Hudson is owned by Nintendo?
Now you're just making s**t up.
Ahh, I remember back the days playing Mega Bomberman on my Megadrive, then Bomberman World on my Playstation, anticipating the never released in Europe Bomberman Online on Dreamcast, and hoping that Bomberman Party 2 (or whatever it was called) was released outside of Japan for the PS2....all such great Nintendo consoles.
....<.<.....
