:S
Still, there have been worse redesigns, Goeman's for example, or Bomberman's...however they need to stop doing this kind of thing with designs that work.
And, last I checked, they're still polling people about whether the change is necessary or not. Apparently, the overwhelming response is "no". Well, actually, it's more "for the love of God do not change Klonoa's design or it will be coward-killing time".
I think it looks pretty cute, actually... but preferably for a new game, not for this one.
While it's not terrible, it comes off as a) a bit stiff and b) trying too hard. He looks like a character from a Sonic-themed Kingdom Hearts.
I think what's bugging me about this picture in particular are the boots. They look too small and kinda unbalanced for this kind of character.
He's lacking something. I don't know, it's-it's....
Oh right, WIN!
I wonder why would they consider a DRASTIC change to Klonoa. Sure, the few games that Bandai-Namco actually decided to bring over were more of a cult following, but the original model worked for it's gameplay.
Besides I though the Vector-Man remake model was terrible!
EDIT: Pac Man Hat is a MUST! >:(
Someone, someplace...Sora is naked or down to his underpants.
Aww, Klonoa has one of my favorite video game character designs. This new design is decent but seems a bit too... Gremlinny. I'd even say it's generic and forgettable. The new one is like "hell yeah I'm gonna save the * out of some *, and look mad wiked edgy while doing it, wiggidy wiggidy wa" and the design on the right is like "there are things that need saving, I'd better get on that."
It's just strange they would even consider such a drastic redesign so late into the series. I mean it's not like this would be Klonoa's first time leaving Japan - he's an established character all around.
(and I know Bomberman Act Zero exists; but I don't think that was meant to be a permanent redesign)
Well, guess no more midnight snacks for Klo.

I kinda like the design, but yeah, it's totally uneeded and they would be much better just sticking off with him as is, and use this for the inevitable day when kingdom hearts spreads it's oily tentacles into every other franchise on earth...
The design isn't too bad. If anything, he still looks like Klonoa, only with a fresh change of clothes and different ear shape and not at all drastically different from his previous appearance. Is it needed? Possibly not. But I'm more worried on the contents of the game he'll appear in, whether it'd be the same or reflect the changes of his looks; my opinion can go either way at this point.
I still say he looks like Sonic the Werebat.

Klonoa World Adventure, anyone?
