This is from Gamespot:
At a pre-Tokyo Game Show press event, Capcom has taken the wraps off a new game set in the Mega Man X universe. Mega Man X Command Mission, in development for the PlayStation 2 and GameCube, takes characters found in Mega Man X7 and tosses them into an RPG setting.
The game will let you construct a three-member team using Mega Man, Zero, Axl, or a new female character. The game will be broken up into battle stages, and after each one you'll return to the Hunter Base to regroup. The game's overall mission has your team sneaking onto Gigantis Island, where you'll be tasked with stopping General Upsilon and his evil Liberion army.
The game will feature RPG-style combat, complete with a Final Fantasy-like battle order list, which will change as the battle plays out. The game will also have a few action-like elements to its combat, so to execute special attacks, you'll have to do things like stop a golf swing-like meter or enter a series of button commands to maximize your damage.
Command Mission uses a cel-shaded style similar to the graphics found in Mega Man X7. When not in combat, you'll move through the game from a third-person behind-the-back perspective. Mega Man X Command Mission is currently scheduled to be released in Japan in 2004, with a North American version to follow.
This leads me to believe that MMX7 will also hit the Gamecube.
And for the record: game out in Japan... Thursday, was it? I believe that's right. (The 29th...)
in june.
Wrong. July. As in, today.
Or, at the very least, it's out now in Hong Kong.
I've ordered the Japanese version of the game and I'd like to know if its texts can be read in English ( like most of the SONIC games!!... )since I've seen a screenshot with English subtitles!!...
Some menu choices, maybe. But the meat of the game text is going to be in Japanese, guaranteed. RPGs tend to have too much text to translate into English straightaway... SEGA and Sonic Team have been recent exceptions to the rule, even Sonic Battle with its huge load of text was translated completely into english for the Japanese version.
English subtitles? Goes to show how fast Capcom USA is working on getting this game localized.
for those who don't know the release date is schedueld
for sept.20
US? Sweet.
Ugh, hyperknux88's custom title blew up. And the guy posts EVERYWHERE here... can anything be done?
EDIT: Or, at least I thought he did...
What? you're not making any sense.
i know he didn't mean me. i'm just saying i didn't understand what he meant.
and i noticed hyperknux's title stretched the board and stuff. (it bothered me while i was reading.)
will bass be in this game.
Why the heck would Bass be in an X game? Common sense, people.

DUH!!!
OOC: Riiight. Like that's much of a reason.
Anyway, IGN has new videos, showing off the translation (and dub). And guess what? The voices work this time. Their acting skills aren't the world's greatest, but it's not going to cause you any headaches. (If you want to see what I mean, view the second movie added - it may or may not be spoilerish, but it's got great examples of the voices in action.)
OMG X SOUNDS LIKE A MAN. O.O
Actually, I've forgotten what he sounded like in X7. But I'm glad he didn't regress into "baby X" mode. And Zero sounds pretty good, not too deep like in X7 (the one voice I DO remember).
NOT spoilerish? I beg to differ. Now we know there's betrayal involved... 🙂
i'll admit that in X4 X sounded like a little schoolgirl.
Can't wait for this thing to come out.... Other than this one guy by the name of "General Epsilon", which new mavericks will be coming out?

Both the PS2 and GC versions of Command Mission are nearing stateside release. Has there been any official statements from Capcom about differences between versions? Any feedback from those whom imported the Japanese versions concerning the aforementioned differences?
Well, it's been confirmed that the PS2 version is still bundled with the X8 demo and that the GC version still links up with the GBA, has shorter load times and is a bit cleaner-looking, but otherwise they're pretty much equal.
EDIT: This now confirmed: the GC version is harder.
No, seriously. There's this cut-off point which, if the number of turns exceeds it, will proceed to downgrade the EXP earned. For the PS2, this point is 28 turns. For the GC, 21. And let's face it, sometimes 7 turns can really matter.
Still, I've noticed a lot more people saying that the extra difficulty makes them want the GC version more (or at least, is one of the reasons they want it more).
